The principle of sound neutralisation is well known. The number of people suffering from blad-der or bowel incontinence is large and con-stantly rising. Treatment through electrical stimulation is a tried and tested form of the-rapy. This treatment can improve pelvic and sphincter muscle tone and in some cases even eliminate incontinence. The electrical stimulation of the muscles and surrounding nerves is performed using a vaginal or anal electrode or through the external placement of surface electrodes. This form of therapy is practically free of side effects and has the added advantage of actively including the patient in the therapy, which they can perform in the privacy of their own home. The muscles can be strengthened without fatiguing through gradually increasing the impulses. Urge incontinence can be allevi-ated when stimulation frequencies prevent the bladder muscles from involuntarily contracting. With a choice of 2 different vaginal elec-trodes and a rectal electrode.
