Smart Cities and IoT
According to Gartner1, a Smart City is
a city in which multiple sectors cooperate to achieve sustainable
outcomes through the analysis of contextual real-time information
shared among sector-specific information and operational technology
systems
According to IERC2, the IoT is
A dynamic global network infrastructure with self-configuring
capabilities based on standard and interoperable communication
protocols where physical and virtual “things” have identities, physical
attributes, and virtual personalities and use intelligent interfaces, and
are seamlessly integrated into the information network
