    Get off on the right foot with Unity Pro Click & Start

    User guide1. 1. Tutorial presentation

    This tutorial is dedicated to people who want to program with Unity Pro workshop and who are notfamiliar with it. It gives a progressive approach of the elementary features of the software through anexample of machine.

    This tutorial is organized in 4 parts:

    1- Programming in ladder diagram with debug on the PLC simulator2- Programming in literal structured language, including the design of an operator screen to display

    and operate with the project.

    3- On-line modifications of the project to add new components on the machine. In this part, youmay execute the program on a real platform Modicon M340.

    4- Two additional presentations to go one step further than programming a PLC:- Management of a variable speed drive ATV31 through the PLC.- Display of information from the PLC on a terminal Magelis XBT GT.

    2. 2. Modes of use of the tutorial

    There are different ways to use this tutorial:

    1- The user wants to have a general overview without programming.

    In this case, you don't need any specific configuration. Please follow the guide along the pages.Videos illustrate the operating modes with Unity Pro.

    2- The user wants to program with Unity Pro while viewing the tutorial.

    In this case, we need to install Unity Pro version V3.0 minimum S, M, L or XL, or the trial version.

    3- In complement of one of the choices above, the user would like to run the program on the PLC.

    In this case, you need to get the corresponding configuration that is used inside the tutorial.

    A folder called "Application" includes the project when all the programming steps are done. Youcan use one of the two files while double clicking on the file.

    3. 3. Requirements for the PC configurationSystem: Pentium 1,2 GHz or higher, recommended: 2,4 GHz

    RAM Memory: 512 Mb / recommended: 1 Gb

    Operating System: Windows 2000 or Windows XP Professional Editions

    The animation of the machine described in the tutorial should need the setup of a plug-in on thecomputer if it is not installed already. When launching the presentation, you will be warned with a

    message that contain this kind of information: "some controls of this presentation cannot beactivated". To install the plug-in, please connect to Adobe Web site (www.adobe.com) and selectAdobe Flash Player download.

    4. 4. Launching the tutorial

    The tutorial can be launched from the original hardware support or be copied previously on thehard disk of the PC.

    To launch the tutorial, open the folder "V1_EN" and double click on the file "Click and Start M340EN_V1.pps".
