NCG CAM Solutions Ltd are pleased to release NCG CAM v10.0.04 Below are brief details of the enhancements we have made since v10.0.03. This point release contains bug fixes, minor enhancements along with some new features which are highlighted below. 96 : New for v10.0.04 Implementation of 3D Connexion Mouse (space ball) for 64bit compatibility. This will require the relevant drivers to be installed for the 3D Connexion Mouse if not already installed. The drivers can be downloaded from: http://www.3dconnexion.com/service/drivers.html 178 : When working in the Parameter space window, the mouse right context sensitive menu now has: Invert, Clear Selection and Edit trim surface options.

220 : If a non-zero tool axis tilt is requested in 3 to 5 conversion and neither gouge avoidance strategy is 'Tilt', then a warning message is now output in the database window to say that the requested tool axis tilt will not be applied. 230 : When a tool/cutter is chosen from a database for a five-axis conversion plan, the thickness values for the calculation tool are no longer updated by those from the tool database. 286 : Error messages are now output to the database window if a 3D boundary curve or multiple curve is input to any five-axis strategy.

NCG CAM v10.0.04 Date: 08/11/2010

387 : New for v10.0.04 It is now possible to create a prismatic stock model based on an input boundary and/or triangulated surface. This can then be used within the machines simulation process to see dynamic stock removal. The prismatic stock model can be created several ways: Select a suitable boundary that represents the outside of the stock material or a suitable triangulates surfaces folder. The from the mouse right context sensitive menu or the Geometry menu, pick: Prismatic Stock Model. That will display a dialogue as per the one below:

Where you need to enter the Z min and max for the stock material. If a boundary and a triangulated surfaces folder are selected before picking: Prismatic Stock Model, the Prismatic Stock Model dialog will get the Z min and max values from the selected triangulated surfaces. If only the triangulates surfaces are selected the X Y and Z sizes for the Prismatic Stock Model will be based on the X Y Z limits of the triangulated surfaces To use the Prismatic Stock Model as part of the Machine simulation: From the contents list select the surfaces that represent the part then the Prismatic Stock Model - the order in which these 2 are selected is important. Then select the toolpaths or tape file you wish to run on the machine simulation.

Then when machine simulation is run, you will also see dynamic stock removal:

408 : Five-axis parallel cuts and morph-between-surfaces dialogs now include Clockwise and Anti-clockwise options for the cutting direction. This is because with some side tilt angles relative to the part, climb or conventional is not as it may first appear.

468 : The risk of a tapefile being corrupted when a post-processor was run simultaneously with a simulation has been eliminated. 567 : It is now possible to select cutters of different flute length to the original cutter, when using the tool/cutter database in 3 to 5 axis conversions. 652 : A problem has been fixed where posted 3 to 5 axis conversions of 3+2 toolpaths could be incorrect. In particular, simulations of such a toolpath will now be correct. 671 : New for v10.0.04 Adaptive Clearance Toolpaths now support tool holders (as per all other toolpaths).

689 : A problem has been corrected where 3 to 5 axis conversions that specify a fixed side tilt angle could fail, particularly for 3+2 toolpaths. 691 : New for v10.0.04 It is now possible to use a triangulated surfaces folder to represent a stock model in simulations. This allows another 'model' to be inserted into the database and then used as the stock in the machine simulation. Ideal it machining a part machined item or a casting for example. When two triangulated surfaces folders are input to the Simulator, the first will be interpreted as the part, the second the stock model.

708 : We now have separate Portuguese and Brazilian translations. Portuguese users should use the PTG translation from now on. 751 : Adaptive Clearance Help: Corrected duplicated description. 752 : Restored fixed format cursor display in the status bar. When the viewing scale is less than 10 the task bar will show, 2 decimal places for mm and 3 decimal places for inches, as at version 10.0.01. For scales greater than 10, the number of decimal places will increase by 1, and then again at scales over 100. 755 : Linking: Fixed minor interface issues with horizontal lead arcs 756 : For profile ramping open passes we now measure the true diameter of the pass to ensure it is large enough to ramp down on.

Release notes for:

NCG CAM v10.0.04 Date: 08/11/2010

761 and 851 : New for v10.0.04 A new options "Bidirectional milling of open passes" and "Apply bidirectional to offsets only" have been added for Core Roughing and Rest Roughing toolpaths. The Link per cluster has been removed, but still used when needed in the background. When "Bidirectional milling of open passes" is enabled open non contact passes may be reverse milled to shorten the toolpath, this will save time for users cutting soft materials, by reducing the retract moves. It is possible to set the "Apply bidirectional to offsets only", then passes on the surface (passes that have not been offset) will respect the main milling direction.

765 : Simulations now require the model part to be input explicitly. The part on which the original toolpath is based is no longer passed to the Simulator. This is to avoid mismatches between the toolpath and part when the toolpath has been transformed. So you must select the triangulated surfaces and then the toolpath or tape file before picking Simulate. Optionally you may also pick the prismatic stock, after the triangulated surfaces. (see 387) 766 : Documentation update for linking option "Allow reverse milling of open passes". (see 761) 769 : Add Turkish translation. The old DEPOCAM Turkish translations have been restored where possible 773 : A problem has been fixed where simulations were enabled for not-yet-calculated toolpaths. 774 : Waterline Linking: Ramp extension now defaults to stepdown if Ramp Angle or Horizontal Lead In Radius are zero.

783 : New for v10.0.04 Added new general option "Drilling Data Depth Tolerance" (default 0.05), Tools > Options > General. All drilling data is treated as having the same depth if they are within this tolerance. Also any depth within tolerance of a whole number is rounded to that whole number (e.g. 4.99 becomes 5). Updated the documentation.

784 : The drilling depth is no longer lifted by 0.05 when the cutting parameters plan is set to have feedrate control on by default. 792 : The drilling 'Peck depth' now allows any strictly positive number when Drill to depth is selected. 795 : Edit > Folder Contents no longer selects surfaces more than once when selecting by layer and colour

806 : The toolpaths verification page in the post-processor dialog now displays the estimated machining time for each toolpath and also the total estimated machining time for all toolpaths.

813 : Updated online English reference file with changes for version 10.0.04. 816 : The menu for choosing new inputs from the plan inputs page, the list box is now 60 pixels wider than its parent column so that the plan names are not truncated.
