Upgrading Information: Repository

If you are upgrading from an Insight® version prior to v9.0.x, you will need to upgrade to the latest v8.1.11 upgrade build prior to upgrading to this current release. If you are upgrading from any version of Insight, please note that Insight may require a new license key. You will need to obtain a new License Key from Customer Services. Once this is received, please perform a replace in order to retain your License Assignments. For more information on upgrading, please refer to the v9 upgrade document or contact your Customer Support office. Prior to upgrading, please make sure your Insight Object Repository is backed up (using your current Administration Application). This backup is essential for all types of installs, whether you are installing this version in parallel with an existing previous version or, alternatively, as a new stand alone installation. Any upgrade to 2012.1 SP1 requires a new repository to be created. All previous repositories from V9.0.x and above used Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0. Insight 2012.1 SP1 now requires Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0. Therefore if upgrading from V9.0.x or higher you will need to backup your current production repository and then restore into a new repository created in 2012.1 SP1. This must be done in order to be able to login to the 2012.1 SP1 version.

Download Microsoft .NET 4.0 (Full Client): http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=17851

Customer Service Assistance

Upgrading Information: Database Script Update

If you are upgrading from an Insight version prior to 2012.1 SP1, you will need to follow a process by which a script is run over your Oracle Database. After running the script you will need to confirm all Profile Connections in Insight Administrator for 2012.1 SP1 are using the correct username and password. (The new database script allows a unique username to be used. Please check with your DBA to get the correct username credentials to use in the Data Connections). You will then have to run through the Profile so it can update with any new tables and views that 2012.1 SP1 uses. Please note: This should be done in conjunction with an InsightSoftware.com customer service representative who will provide you with the relevant script for your Oracle Database.

Recommendations for All Clients:

It is highly recommended that clients switch to using the Built In Data Provider for their Data Connections. Issues have been reported with the Oracle Client Data Provider and ODBC Data Provider.

For clients upgrading from v9.0.2 or v9.0.2 SP1:

Some profiles generated in v9.0.2 SP1, when upgraded to 2012.1 SP1

were losing the profile setting “GL Parent Segment Filter Support”. As

part of the upgrade process, the client must run through the Profile Wizard prior to Insight login. During this process, please re-enable this setting.

Customized captions created in v9.0.2 and v9.0.2 SP1 for totals and grand totals are lost upon upgrading. These can be re-entered and will be retained permanently when the inquiry is saved.

Customized titles created in v9.0.2 and v9.0.2 SP1 are lost on upgrade. These can be re-entered and will be retained permanently when the inquiry is saved.

Insight/DocuSphere Integration

The integration of the Insight Software Suite with DocuSphere® by Image Integration Systems allows users to get high level information as well as transactional details all the way down to the original source documents. With the combination of these two products, you have visibility into not just the actual source documents but the workflows that generated the summarized and detailed information in your ERP system. This way you can see where the document came from, who has accessed it, etc. The user security, as set up in DocuSphere, is adhered to when drilling down into source documents within DocuSphere. The link between your ERP system/Insight and the external object is done through a hyperlink. The external object that you are linking to can be a document stored in DocuSphere or it can be an external webpage. This integration works with customers using Oracle E-Business Suite, as well as those using JD Edwards World or EnterpriseOne.

New Module

Lease Management (LM)

This new module was introduced in Summer 2011 SP3. However, as a recap for customers we are providing this new module information here again for your convenience. The newest modules in the Oracle e-Business Suite is Oracle Lease Management. Its purpose is to allow users to manage the financial aspects of leases including contracts, lease schedules, payments, etc. Because standard reporting within Oracle for this module is extremely limited, Insight has developed this module to include a range of templates to support analysis and monitoring of leases. The new Lease Management module is only available to Oracle e-Business Suite 11i customers. The templates include Contracts, Amortization Schedule, Lease Payments, Operating and Finance Lease Trial Balance Templates in accordance with US and local GAAP requirements. For complete information on the new templates available with Lease Management, please refer to the Release Notes for Summer 2011 SP3:

These new General Enhancements were introduced in Summer 2011 SP3. However, as a recap for customers we are providing this new module information here again for your convenience.

Administration Enhancements

Primary key retrieval enhancement: if a primary key has not been defined for

a table, Insight uses the new XML import step in the Profile Wizard to define

what the primary keys are and then stores this information in the repository.

In Insight Administrator, a new function called "Propagate Template

Changes" is available for upgrading Insight Solution-generated Designer

templates and reports. With this feature, new template changes can be

propagated to related templates and child reports. Changes are detected by

the template’s unique ID and version number. Separate standard templates are now shipped with our software for

customers on Oracle EBS 11i and R12 versions which would now exclude

11i templates being shown for an Oracle EBS R12 customer and vice versa.

General Enhancements

Requirement of full install of Microsoft .NET 4.0

Languages added: We have now translated our software and is available in

the following new languages. The install shield will read the language

defined in the workstation’s regional settings and select that language to

install as a default. The language selected can be changed by the user at

the time of installation:

Spanish

German

French

Italian

Portuguese (Brazil)

Portuguese (Portugal)

Simplified Chinese language (left to right). Note that unless you

also have the Simplified and Traditional Chinese language packs

installed, some characters may not be displayed correctly. Also,

when in Chinese input mode, Chinese characters, commas and

colons are not recognized by filters.

Japanese language (left to right)

You can use the QBE line to filter over null values by keying in NULL (must

be in uppercase) in the QBE line for the specific column. (Note that when you

enter just a ‘=’ into the QBE for a numeric column, the system returns as a

‘=NULL’. This is because within a numeric column you can’t have spaces;

cells that appear empty must be NULL.)

There is new logic in linking that makes it completely configurable. When

defining the link and choose the pass values, you can map any source

column filter to a target filter.

Ability to sort within a column in the Define Link Inquiry Pass Values dialog.

Ability to stop a query while it is running by clicking the Stop button while

running the query.

Ability to link or drill down to a hyperlink.

Can use open-ended date range filters for either the from or to date. (This is

for date-specific filters, not period ranges.)

Within Calculations, the concatenate string function is available.

Console Users can use the Hide Details checkbox, which sets whether

headers and totals display without the detail lines.
