Overall, U-M’s 34 NCAA Tournament appearances are also a national record. Head coach Red Berenson has guided U-M to each of its 21 straight NCAA Tournaments. in that time Michigan has reached 10 Frozen Fours, win- ning national titles in 1996 and 1998. U-M’s 23 Frozen Fours and nine national titles rank first in the country. U-M’s last Frozen Four was in 2008, while its last NCAA title came in 1998. Michigan is 47-26 in the NCAA Tournament. Coach Berenson is 26-20, which puts him third all- time in wins behind Jerry York (33, Bowling Green and Boston College) and Jack Parker (30, Boston University). Senior left wing CARL HAGELiN leads U-M with three goals and two assists in six games. Senior cen- ter MATT RUST has a 1-3-4 scoring line in six NCAA Tournament matches. All-time U-M NCAA Tournament stats and results are on pages 12-13. NCAA WEST REGIONAL STORYLINES Head coach Red Berenson played for the St. Louis Blues from 1967-1971 and 1974-78. He also coached the Blues from 1979-82. On March 7, 2011, he took part in a Blues ceremony recognizing four renowned players who wore jersey No. 7. Berenson ranks 12th all-time in Blues history in games played (519) while slotting seventh in goals (172) and eighth in both points (412) and assists (240). Senior co-captain CARL HAGELiN paces U-M in every offensive category with an 18-30-48 line. The Swede was an All-CCHA first team selection and the league’s Best Defensive Forward. Michigan enters the NCAA Tournament having won nine of its last 10 games. During that time U-M has scored 3.9 goals per game and allowed 2.1 against. Sixteen players have a goal, led by CARL HAGELiN and CHRiS BROWN who have five each. The squads split a non-conference series at Yost ice Arena this past fall. Michigan lost the opener (4-2) and won the finale (6-1). UNO swept U-M in Omaha in February 2010.• Red Berenson is 2-5-1 all-time vs. UNO coach Dean Blais: 1-3-0 since Blais took over UNO in 2009-10 and 1-2-1 when Blais led North Dakota from 1994-2004. Minnesota had a streak of 20 straight end in the 1990s.• Michigan has accumulated seven come-from-behind wins this season. • The line of CARL HAGELiN, LOUiE CAPORUSSO and CHRiS BROWN has contrib-uted nine goals and 12 assists in the seven games that the trio has played together (Feb. 11-25 and March 18-19).• LOUiE CAPORUSSO notched his 10th multi-point game of the season with one goal and one assist vs. Notre Dame on March 19.• CHRiS BROWN achieved a career-best point streak of seven games (5-3-8) before being held off the scoresheet on March 12. Of his five goals during the spree, four were game-winners. He has five decisive tallies this season, second to Carl Hagelin.• MATT RUST ranks third on U-M in points (25) and is second in assists (20), though his highest value may come in the faceoff circle, where he’s won 56.4% of his team-high 669 draws.• JON MERRiLL was voted to the CCHA All-Rookie Team and to the All-CCHA second team. Furthermore, he was named a finalist for three major CCHA awards: Rookie of the Year, Best Offensive Defenseman and Best Defensive Defenseman. HeAD CoACH ReD BeRensonA 17-year veteran of the NHL, Red Berenson (U-M, 1962) is in his 27th season at the helm for the Wolverines, where he owns a 725-338-73 record. in 2007-08, he was honored with the Spencer Penrose Award as college hock-ey’s top coach. Berenson is in sixth place on college hockey’s coaching wins list and is one of six head coaches in college hockey history to accumulate 700 wins. A former Michigan captain and two-time All-American for

U-M from 1960-62, Berenson has averaged more than 26 wins per season in his collegiate coaching career. He has led Michigan to a pair of NCAA Championships (1996, 1998) and 20 consecutive appearances in the NCAA Tournament, the longest active streak of any school in college hockey. He spent three seasons (1980-82) as head coach of the NHL’s St. Louis Blues before coming back to Michigan, earning NHL Coach of the Year honors in 1981. For his “outstanding service to hockey in the United States” Berenson was given the NHL’s Lester Patrick Award on Nov. 6, 2006.

Hogan was injured for most of December and January.• BRYAN HOGAN earned the 50th win of his career vs. Notre Dame on Nov. 13. Hogan has eight career 30-plus save outings, including three this season. He is 6-2-0 in those games and 3-0-0 this season.• From March 13, 2009, through Feb. 25, 2010, Hogan made 41 straight starts. His streak was snapped when he suffered a groin

injury early on in the Feb. 25 contest.• HOGAN is chasing a number of U-M career goalie marks.
