I am pleased to be the Patron of Tasmanian Fabians and look forward toencouraging Tasmanians to participate in the debate on progressive policies, MsCollins said.

With the current right-wing Federal Liberal Government Tasmanians are being

reminded every day why we must fight inequality and unfairness in our society.

Australian Fabians national deputy chair Tim Sonnreich said he was pleased that theTasmanian Fabians was being relaunched.

We must fight against what conservative governments are doing because inequalityreally matters, Mr Sonnreich said.

Just one example of that is we know that the richest 20 per cent of Australians canexpect to live an average of six years longer than the poorest 20 per cent. Thats a

    sign of an unfair society.

The current patron of the Australian Fabians is former Prime Minister GoughWhitlam.
