A STRONG PLAN FOR REAL CHANGE 2

We’re ready.Over the last four years, we’ve been working hard

developing our vision for the future of South Australia.

Not just policies, but a series ofachievable milestones that have been

crafted for the long-term benefit of our state.

Our focus will be

MORE JOBS.LOWER COSTS.

BETTER SERVICES.We’ve got a strong plan for real change.

If elected in 2018 a Marshall Liberal Government will invest $20 million towards the redevelopment of the Glenelg Jetty to reinvigorate the precinct. This will enable a range of new tourism and retail offerings, while also strengthening those businesses already operating in the area.

Preliminary designs for the project include a major expansion and refit of the existing Glenelg jetty to support a range of commercial developments, including a hotel, restaurants and recreational facilities.

By investing in this important piece of tourism infrastructure, we will unlock the potential to attract hundreds of millions of dollars of private investment. This will in turn create hundreds of jobs for South Australians during the construction phase, as well as long-term tourism, hospitality and retail positions.

Our commitment is contingent on a detailed cost-benefit being undertaken, and contributions being made by the local and federal Government, as well as the private developers. This ensures South Australian taxpayers will be getting value-for-money for this investment-and jobs for the state.

WHAT WE’LL DOImportantly, the jetty and facilities will remain accessible to all South Australians and tourists. This development will add another function to the jetty; one that will create jobs and enhance the experience for all users.

We will work in partnership with local and federal governments and the private sector to realise the vision currently being developed by stakeholders. This will unlock a wave of investment by new and existing businesses to create new jobs, new opportunities and greater choice for locals and visitors alike.

This plan will breathe life into Glenelg.

A STRONG PLAN FOR REAL CHANGE 4

We are lucky enough to have some of the world’s most beautiful coastal locations here in South Australia, with some of the best beaches located centrally in metropolitan Adelaide. These beaches provide endless opportunity

for recreation and relaxation, but also support a significant amount of economic activity as tourism and hospitality attractions.

The Glenelg tourism precinct - comprising the Jetty, Mosely Square, the tram connecting

the Bay with the CBD, as well as dozens of hospitality and retail outlets - is one of the jewels in the state’s tourism crown. Visitors travelling from intrastate, interstate and internationally look to Glenelg as a unique tourism experience in metropolitan Adelaide.

Although Glenelg remains one of the most recognisable metropolitan beaches, the precinct has struggled to reach its full potential as a tourism and cultural asset in recent years, with the key infrastructure underpinning many of the attractions in dire need of redevelopment.

The current precinct is tired, out-dated, and in need of a significant redevelopment.

South Australia needs to put it’s best foot forward when it comes to our growing tourism market; we need to ensure that our prime tourist destinations are able to compete with our interstate rivals.

A centrally located beach precinct so close to the CBD is unique, and we need it to be world class.

WHY WE’RE DOING IT

MORE JOBS. LOWER COSTS. BETTER SERVICES.
