MESSAGE FROM THE HEAD OF SCHOOL
This is the final newsletter of the year. Thank you to all parents, carers, children and staff who have supported the school and worked so hard this year. It has been an incredibly busy and enjoyable week with camp and activities week. The children have been fantastic in terms of enthusiasm in taking part in activities, some of which they may never have tried before. There are a few photos in this newsletter to give you a little snippet of what went on; full reports will be featured in our first newsletter of next term. Today the staff were treated to a cream tea made and served by the school Governors. It was a lovely afternoon and an opportunity to say goodbye to some of our members of staff. Farewell and good luck to: Miss Stevens, Mr Palmer, Mr Orsini, Mrs Higgins, Mrs Twiggs, Miss Marvin, Miss Maloney, Miss Jefferies, Mr Page and Miss Hussey.
We wish you all a safe and happy summer break. Mr Alexander

NEWS AND EVENTS
PRINCE’S TRUST ACHIEVE GROUP LAUNCH Reigate School’s new Prince’s Trust Achieve club started this week, with a team-building trip to Tulleys Farm’s escape rooms. Tijan, Emma, Kiaya, Elliot, Archie and Azaan all worked together brilliantly to solve a series of tricky puzzles and managed to escape with minutes to spare!! The children will be undertaking a wide range of activities next year and working towards a Personal Development and Employability qualification, which they can use for future college and job applications. Mrs Constable and I are really looking forward to working with the children and trying many new experiences over the next couple of years. Reported by Mr Hamilton

TOP READERS IN YEAR 7 AND YEAR 8 Throughout the last year, the children have been enjoying books from the school library and working hard to become fluent readers. They are assisted by participation in our Accelerated Reader program. Each time a book is finished, the children take a quiz to test their understanding and, over time, their ‘word count’ builds up. In Year 7, six children, headed by top readers Luke and Madeleine, have achieved the amazing total of over two million words! The following children have all been awarded certificates and prizes in the end of year assembly. Also up for awards were the following outstanding Year 8 readers, led by the phenomenal Yasmin, with over six million words, and Jasmine, who achieved a 100% success rate in her 72 book quizzes. A separate acknowledgement has been made to enthusiastic Year 7 school library users Nandini and Lissy, who have each borrowed 35 books this academic year! Reported by Ms Williams and Ms Knights

SAFEGUARDING
Thinkuknow is an education programme from the National Crime Agency’s CEOP Command. Since 2006, Thinkuknow has been keeping children and young people safe by providing education about sexual abuse and sexual exploitation. Thinkuknow is unique. It is underpinned by the latest intelligence about child sex offending from CEOP Command. Thinkuknow aims to ensure that everyone has access to this practical information – children, young people, their parents and carers and the professionals who work with them. Alongside the Thinkuknow website the programme provides educational resources, including films, cartoons and lesson plans, to help parent/carers and professionals raise young people’s awareness. https://www.thinkuknow.co.uk
CAREERS
CAREERS GUIDANCE We have a careers section on the school website which contains useful information regarding college open events, up and coming careers events at Reigate School, details regarding apprenticeships and how to search and apply for them along with links to useful websites. There is also a link to a quiz which is fun to take and will give children an idea of what kind of careers will suit their personalities. Go to Academic-Careers or Academic-Option at post 16 for details of local college open events. Below are some other very useful websites which have plenty of information regarding further education, apprenticeships and careers choices plus interview techniques and many other tips.
