STATE OF DELAWARE STATE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS, DATED AUGUST 2016 AND THE DELAWARE EROSION AND SEDIMENT
CONTROL HANDBOOK, DATED FEBRUARY 2019, AND ALL AMENDMENTS THERETO.
2. EXISTING UTILITIES, UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED ON THE PLANS, ARE SHOWN IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE BEST AVAILABLE INFORMATION. IT SHALL BE THE
CONTRACTORS RESPONSIBILITY TO CONTACT "MISS UTILITY" 1-800-282-8555 (3) THREE DAYS PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION IN ORDER TO VERIFY AND ALLOW FOR
THEIR LOCATION AND DEPTH IN THE FIELD.
3. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL TAKE ALL NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS TO PROTECT ALL EXISTING UTILITIES AND MAINTAIN UNINTERRUPTED SERVICE. ANY AND ALL
DAMAGES DONE TO EXISTING UTILITIES DUE TO HIS/HER NEGLIGENCE SHALL BE IMMEDIATELY AND COMPETENTLY REPAIRED AT HIS/HER EXPENSE.
4. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PRESERVE ALL TREES ON THE SITE EXCEPT WHERE NECESSARY TO CONSTRUCT PROPOSED BUILDINGS, UTILITIES, DRIVEWAYS, OR
PARKING AREAS.
5. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR OBTAINING ALL NECESSARY PERMITS, LICENSING AND INSURANCE REQUIRED FOR CONSTRUCTION.
6. IT SHALL BE THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO COMPLETELY AND ADEQUATELY CONTROL WATER PRESENT IN THE EXCAVATION. THE CONTRACTOR
SHALL PROVIDE FOR THE DISPOSAL OF WATER REMOVED FROM EXCAVATIONS, IN SUCH A MANNER AS SHALL NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO PUBLIC OR PRIVATE
PROPERTY OR TO ANY PORTION OF THE WORK COMPLETED OR IN PROGRESS OR CAUSE ANY IMPEDIMENT TO THE USE OF ANY AREA BY THE PUBLIC, IF
APPLICABLE. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE REQUIRED TO OBTAIN THE NECESSARY DEWATERING WELL PERMITS FROM THE STATE OF DELAWARE, DNREC

7. NO DEBRIS WILL BE BURIED ON THIS SITE.
8. PLAN LOCATION AND DIMENSIONS SHALL BE STRICTLY ADHERED TO UNLESS OTHERWISE DIRECTED BY THE ENGINEER.

STATE FIRE MARSHAL NOTES:

2. N.F.P.A. BUILDING TYPE: TYPE II-000 (NON-COMBUSTIBLE).
3. FIRE SUPPRESSION: AUTOMATIC SPRINKLERS ARE PROPOSED.
4. THE STATE FIRE MARSHAL MAY ACCEPT ALTERNATIVES TO SPECIFIC SYSTEMS, CONDITIONS, ARRANGEMENTS, MATERIALS, OR EQUIPMENT REQUIRED BY
THESE REGULATIONS. SUCH ALTERNATIVES SHALL AFFORD AN EQUIVALENT LEVEL OF FIRE SAFETY, IN THE OPINION OF THE STATE FIRE MARSHAL. AN

6. BUILDING ACCESS SHALL BE NO FURTHER THAN 50 FEET FROM A PRIMARY ENTRANCE. WHERE BUILDINGS ARE PROVIDED WITH AN AUTOMATIC SPRINKLER

9. PERIMETER ACCESS MINIMUM WIDTH SHALL BE 15FT MEASURED FROM THE FACE OF THE BUILDING AT GRADE WITH A MAXIMUM SLOPE OF 10%. PLANTINGS AND
UTILITY SERVICES SHALL BE PERMITTED WITHIN THE PERIMETER ACCESS AND SHALL NOT INTERFERE WITH EMERGENCY SERVICES FIRE GROUND
OPERATIONS.
10. ADDRESS NUMBERS OF AT LEAST 12 INCHES IN HEIGHT MUST BE PLACED ON THE STREET SIDE OF THE BUILDING VISIBLE FROM THE STREET. LABEL ALL SUITES
IF APPLICABLE.
11. ANY NATURAL OR LP GAS BOTTLES, METERS, VALUES, REGULATORS, ETC., MUST HAVE IMPACT PROTECTION PER CITY OF REHOBOTH BEACH CODE OF
ORDINANCES.
12. FULL BUILDING AND FIRE PLAN REVIEW IS REQUIRED.
13. BUILDING CANNOT BE OCCUPIED OR CONSTRUCTION OR RENOVATIONS STARTED UNTIL COMPLETION OF BUILDING AND FIRE PLAN REVIEW.
14. ALL REQUIRED MEANS OF EGRESS SHALL HAVE AN EXIT DISCHARGE CONSISTING OF A NON SLIP SURFACE, AND LEADING TO AND TERMINATING AT A PUBLIC
WAY.
15. FIRE ALARM SYSTEM MAY BE REQUIRED PER OCCUPANCY CODE REQUIREMENTS.
16. KNOX BOX REQUIRED AT ALL TENANT SPACES. A KNOX BOX CONTAINING KEYS FOR FIRE DEPARTMENT ACCESS SHALL BE PROVIDED IN THE BUILDING. THE
KNOX BOX SHALL BE LISTED OR APPROVED BY THE STATE FIRE MARSHAL FOR THE INTENDED USE AND INSTALLED IN SUCH A MANNER THAT THE FIRE
DEPARTMENT WILL HAVE ACCESS TO THE BOX. CONTACT THE LOCAL FIRE CHIEF FOR ORDERING INFORMATION AND LOCATION OF BOX ON BUILDING.
17. STANDPIPES MAY BE REQUIRED.
18. SMOKE CONTROL MAY BE REQUIRED.
19. ELEVATOR CARS TO MEET THE INTERIOR DIMENSIONS SET FORTH IN THE DELAWARE STATE FIRE PREVENTION CODE.

21. MULTIPLE ACCESS ROADS SHALL BE PROVIDED WHEN A FIRE DEPARTMENT ACCESS ROAD (FIRE LANE) IS DETERMINED BY THE FIRE MARSHAL TO BE IMPAIRED
BY VEHICLE CONGESTION, CONDITION OF TERRAIN, CLIMATIC CONDITIONS, OR OTHER FACTORS THAT COULD LIMIT ACCESS SUCH AS PLACEMENT OF FIRE

PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE CLEANOUT AND LATERAL.
4. THE MINIMUM SIZE OF ALL SANITARY SEWER LATERALS SHALL BE FOUR-INCH (4”).
5. SANITARY SEWER LATERALS SHALL BE CONNECTED DIRECTLY TO THE MAIN, NOT MANHOLES, UNLESS IMPRACTICABLE, AS DETERMINED BY THE DEPARTMENT
OF PUBLIC WORKS.
SANITARY SEWER LOCATION WITH RELATION TO THE WATER MAINS
1. SANITARY SEWER SHALL BE LAID AT LEAST 10 FEET HORIZONTALLY FROM ANY EXISTING OR PROPOSED WATER MAINS. THE DISTANCE SHALL BE MEASURED
OUTSIDE EDGE TO OUTSIDE EDGE.
2. SANITARY SEWER CROSSING WATER MAINS SHALL BE LAID TO PROVIDE A MINIMUM VERTICAL DISTANCE OF 18 INCHES BETWEEN THE OUTSIDE OF THE WATER
MAIN AND THE OUTSIDE OF THE SANITARY SEWER. THIS SHALL BE THE CASE WHERE THE WATER MAIN IS EITHER ABOVE OR BELOW THE SANITARY SEWER.
THE CROSSING SHALL BE ARRANGED SO THAT THE SANITARY SEWER JOINTS WILL BE EQUIDISTANT AND AS FAR AS POSSIBLE FROM THE WATER MAIN JOINTS.
IF SPACING IS LESS THAN 18" VERTICAL DISTANCE, THE TOWN OF MILLSBORO REQUIRES CASING AROUND THE SANITARY SEWER PIPE 10 FEET IN EITHER
DIRECTION FOR A TOTAL OF 20 FEET. THE END TREATMENTS FOR THE SLEEVE SHALL BE FERNCO COUPLERS/SEALS, MANUFACTURER PART NUMBER #1056-86
OR APPROVED EQUAL BY YHE TOWN OF MILLSBORO.
3. WHEN IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO OBTAIN PROPER HORIZONTAL AND VERTICAL SEPARATION AS STIPULATED ABOVE, CONCRETE ENCASEMENT SHALL BE REQUIRED
TO BE INSTALLED A MINIMUM OF 5 FEET EACH SIDE OF THE CROSSING POINT ON THE LOWEST UTILITY. (SEE CONCRETE ENCASEMENT DETAIL.)
4. NO WATER PIPE SHALL PASS THROUGH OR COME IN CONTACT WITH ANY PART OF A SEWER MANHOLE.

PROVIDE TAPERED CRICKETS (MINIMUM 1/2" PER FOOT SLOPE) AROUND ALL MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT CURBS.
6. THE ROOF DRAIN AND MECHANICAL UNIT LOCATIONS SHOWN ON THE ROOF PLAN ARE APPROXIMATE. COORDINATE WITH MECHANICAL AND PLUMBING DRAWINGS FOR EXACT LOCATIONS.
7. PRIOR TO FLASHING OVERFLOW ROOF SCUPPERS AND ROOF DRAIN, ROOFING CONTRACTOR SHALL BE REQUIRED TO CONFIRM MAXIMUM DRAIN PIPE HEIGHT OF 3" ABOVE ROOF IN ACCORDANCE WITH PLUMBING DRAWINGS.
