INTRODUCTION EDUCATION CONSULTANTS:

Education Consultants, provide Expert & Professional services to all the potential students

desirous of seeking quality education abroad. Education Consultants always maintain strong

working relationship with Embassies & Consulates. Students are always provided with latest &

up to date information about student visa requirements, immigration procedures, and

regulations.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

The problem lies in the fact that there are many education consultants in Pakistan but the record

indicates that only 20% education Consultants are genuine and most of them are just making

money out of it and misguiding students. Those who are genuine are doing good work and that¶s

the reason our student ratio is increasing on yearly basis. Among the genuine ones are HR

Consultant, Success Factor, Sun Immigration, Auspak International, Times Consultant etc. Our

student¶s ratio can rise more but because of the fake education consultants people are afraid of

going to them and due to lack of knowledge regarding the procedure and rule of applying for

student visa they change their minds and plans to study in Pakistan Only. A documentary was

shown by Geo T.V two months back that 1 Education Consultant made a fraud of 10 Million and

ran away. The case was forwarded to F.I.A for investigation and later it was found out that the

consultant has gone to Australia. Nothing has happened to that consultant yet and he is enjoying

his life in Australia and many of our students lost their money and now obviously they going to

study in Pakistan. Something must be done about this or students must be provided proper

guidance so that they know the rule to apply directly.

Literature Review:

People warned of fake education/visa consultants in Pakistan

Myra Imran Representatives of renowned educational institutions of Australia, United Kingdom and United

States have warned aspiring candidate against fake consultants that actually make big majority of the total

number of consultants working in the country.

They said that according to a rough estimate, there are more than 2,000 consultants in the country and among

them only 20 are reliable and affiliated with the international institutions. They were talking to µThe News¶ at a

two-day International Education Expo organised by HR Consultants on Sunday. ³There is severe lack of good

guidance in this regard and it is largely up to the student to judge the consultant¶s reliability,´ said Adeel Saeed

Mir, Navitas Country Manager for Pakistan. He deals with admissions in colleges and universities in Australia

and Canada.

Giving some hints about the identification of fake agencies, he said that they work on µdone basis.¶ ³This term

means that they ensure students about admission that is not possible. Many give false hopes to innocent

students just to extract money and often tell them that the agency will manage admission even with low grades

or false documents,´ he added. He said that all these offers clearly indicate that the consultant is fraud. ³A

genuine consultant just guides and facilitates the client and clearly tells them that the last decision is in the

hand of high commission or relevant authority,´ he said.

Adeel said that students, who succeed in going abroad through such elements are never able to settle there and

in majority of cases, they are caught and deported in the end. ³Such youngsters are also vulnerable to abuse

and often work in terrible conditions,´ he added. He said that there are many fake colleges and universities in

developed world and such consultants are usually attached with these institutions. ³Even if a student gets a

degree from such institution, it will be of no use,´ he pointed out. He said that recently, the UK government

has closed down around 300 such colleges and universities. ³Now, the degrees issued by those institutions

have become invalid worldwide.´

Rejecting the impression that the number of students applying for education abroad has decreased after change

in the international politics, he said that the situation on the ground is just the opposite. ³The number of

students seeking this opportunity has actually increased.´ He said that unstable political situation and

increasing inflation is making more and more youngsters to apply for foreign degrees.

Amer Malik, Manager International Office Holmes glen, Australia, said that all information regarding the

reliable consultants is usually available on the websites of relevant institutes. ³Every university has got its own

websites and students can double check whether the process they are following through consultants match the

process mentioned on the website,´ he said while giving another tip for checking the consultant.

Highlighting a changing trend, Malik said that more and more students are now applying for diploma courses

that extend from one to two year. ³There is increased realization among youth that diploma courses make them

more employable as market for such qualification is expanding,´ he said appreciating the fact that Pakistani

students are also keeping in mind the international market trends while applying for such courses.

Methodology

The research methodology chosen for this research is Descriptive method. We first collected the

facts and data on the topic of Education Consultants and people interested in studying abroad.

What are the reason behind people not applying for students Visa and what difficulties they are

facing in Applying.

Thus we gathered such related information by using the descriptive method. We collected

primary and secondary information through questionnaires, magazines and internet.

Data Collection Methods

Data collection and analysis was also another major part of our research. We gathered

information through primary and secondary data. For primary data, we collected information

through questionnaires. For secondary data, we collected information through the magazines,

newspapers and internet.

Using Secondary Data

To answer the research problem primary data was supported by secondary data. For secondary

data, we visited different website, articles, reports & magazines.

According to a survey (Secondary Data) we can easily find out that Pakistan falls in one of the

top ten Country in Asia whose Students are going to U.K for higher studies and is placed at Sixth

position. We can also find out that there is an increase of 3.2% in the students went U.K for

higher studies from 2008 to 2009. This fact is also shown in our primary research survey and it

clearly showing that people are interested in studying in U.K .

more preference is given to U.K but people don¶t know how to apply and are afraid of fake

Education Consultants. Many people don¶t like their procedure and most of them are not willing
