1  DreamHack  Winter  2012  CS:  GO  regulations  –  All  rights  reserved

Chapter  1  –  Tournament  structure

Article  1.  Tournament  format  The  tournament  uses  the  following  format:

Step  1:  Group  stage  –  4  groups  of  4  participants,  two  first  from  each  group  are  qualified  for  the  next  step  Step  2:  Playoff  –  8  participants,  single  elimination  bracket.

Article  2.  Group  stage  For  step  1  the  structure  is  a  group  stage.  In  each  group,  participants  meet  each  other  in  a  single-‐game  match  (see  Article  4).  Each  match  result  awards  points  as  follows:  3  for  a  win,  1  for  a  draw,  0  for  a  defeat.  At  the  end  of  the  group,  the  following  criteria  apply  orderly  to  determine  the  distinct  position  of  each  participant:

1)  Highest  number  of  points  obtained  in  all  the  group  matches;  2)  Higher  number  of  points  obtained  in  the  group  matches  played  among  the  remaining  tie  participants;  3)  Higher  round  difference  obtained  in  the  match  played  among  the  remaining  tied  participants;  4)  Higher  round  difference  obtained  in  the  group  matches  played  among  the  remaining  tied  participants;  5)  Higher  round  difference  obtained  in  all  the  group  matches  played;  6)  Higher  number  of  points  obtained  in  tie-‐breaker  matches  played  among  the  remaining  tied  participants  (tie-‐breaker  matches  are  organized  specifically  for  this  occasion);  7)  Higher  score  difference  obtained  in  the  tie-‐breaker  matches;  8)  Step  3  and  4  are  applied  again  until  no  participants  are  tied  anymore.

The  first  two  participants  in  each  group  qualify  for  the  next  step  of  the  tournament.  Tie-‐breaker  matches  may  be  skipped  if  the  distinction  of  participants  does  not  imply  any  further  involvement  of  the  participants  in  the  competition  (i.e.  if  they  are  both  eliminated,  they  may  remain  tied  in  the  group  stage).

Article  3.  Playoff  For  step  2  the  structure  is  made  of  a  single  elimination  bracket  of  8  participants.  In  each  match,  participants  play  each  other’s  in  a  best-‐of-‐three  match  (see  Article  5).  The  winner  of  a  match  advances  to  the  next  round  of  the  bracket.  There  will  not  be  played  a  match  to  determine  the  3rd  and  4th  place.

Article  4.  Match  formats  This  chapter  describes  the  different  match  format  which  will  be  used  during  DreamHack  Winter  2012.  The  format  will  not  be  changed  during  the  tournament.

Single-‐game  match  A  single-‐game  match  is  played  in  a  single  game  and  opposes  two  teams  of  give  players.  A  game  is  played  on

Page 3: Regulations DreamHack Winter 2012-1 · 3(DreamHack)Winter)2012)CS:)GO)regulations)–)All)rights)reserved) The(following((graphical)(settings(are(allowed(to(be(adjusted(on(the(players(PC(or(monitor:

one  map  in  two  times  of  15  in-‐game  rounds.  For  each  half-‐time,  teams  play  alternatively  terrorist  and  counter-‐terrorist,  and  score  one  point  by  winning  one  in-‐game  round.  The  winner  of  a  game  is  the  first  team  which  scores  16  in-‐game  rounds.  The  winner  of  a  match  is  the  team  that  has  won  one  game.  In  a  single-‐game  match  a  tie,  both  teams  have  15  in-‐game  rounds,  is  possible.  If  one  team  scores  16  in-‐game  rounds  the  match  end  and  the  remaining  rounds  are  not  to  be  played.

Best-‐of-‐three  match  A  best-‐of-‐three  match  is  played  in  two  or  three  games  and  opposes  two  teams  of  five  players.  A  game  is  played  on  one  map  in  two  half-‐times  of  15  in-‐game  rounds.  For  each  half-‐time,  teams  play  alternatively  terrorist  and  counter-‐terrorist,  and  score  one  point  by  winning  one  in-‐game  round.  If  one  team  scores  16  in-‐game  rounds  the  match  ends  and  the  remaining  rounds  are  not  to  be  played.  The  winner  of  a  match  is  the  team  that  has  won  two  games.  If  both  teams  are  tied  at  the  end  of  a  game,  overtimes  are  played  until  a  winner  is  declared.  Such  overtimes  are  composed  of  2  half-‐times  of  3  in-‐game  rounds  and  use  particular  game  settings  (see  Article  7).  For  overtime  team  doesn’t  switch  sides  at  the  end  of  a  match.

Tie-‐breaker  match  A  tie-‐breaker  match  is  played  as  a  single-‐game  match.

Article  12.  Before  the  match  Before  the  start  of  a  match  each  team  must  introduce  his  team  captain  to  the  tournament  officials.  It  can  be  one  of  the  five  players  or  the  official  coach.  The  team  captain  must  remain  the  same  person  during  the  entire  tournament.  The  team  captain  is  the  person  in  charge  of  his  team  toward  the  tournament  officials.  He  has  to  do  the  map  choice  before  a  match,  official  complaints  or  any  other  problems  to  tournament  officials.

• If  a  problem  takes  place  before  the  first  kill  in  the  first  round,  the  whole  half-‐time  will  be  replayed.  • If  a  problem  takes  place  during  the  round  and  the  concerned  outcome  of  the  round  can’t  be

determined  or  guessed,  the  round  is  not  taken  into  account,  the  half-‐time  will  be  continued  with  the  numbers  of  remaining  rounds,  and  the  scores  of  the  interrupted  half-‐time  will  be  added  to  the  new  half-‐time.  Start  money  will  be  set  in  order  to  compensate  the  player(s).

• If  the  problem  took  place  after  the  end  of  the  first  round,  the  half-‐time  will  be  continued  with  the  number  of  remaining  rounds,  and  the  scores  of  the  interrupted  half-‐time  will  be  added  to  the  new  half-‐time.  Start  money  will  be  set  in  order  to  compensate  the  player(s).

Score  validation  For  a  match  both  team  captains  have  to  report  the  match  score  to  the  tournament  officials  and  sign  the  report  match  paper.  After  signing  the  report  match  paper  a  team  can’t  complain  about  the  score.
