a. I don’t like the drab color. b. I think that each business name listed should also have a line indicating their

main services (i.e. “Retail” “Food and Drink” etc.) c. I don’t like the jagged lines, its looks amateurish. d. I’d like to add the municipal parking lots with # of spaces listed at each one. e. I’d prefer a north-south lay out because our City is laid out on that axis. f. It would be nice to extend from 18 mile down to 17 Mile, if possible.

Board discussed what priorities existed and what changes Board might like to make to budget due to COVID19 restrictions. Board consensus was not to make changes now and that many things could be held in budget for use before July 1, 2021. Board discussed Main St. garbage cans and wish to make those a priority, members asked to investigate individually and then potential for subcommittee at next meeting. City Manager remarked that he would like to see new garbage cans by fall. Ringler commented that the plastic bins being used by trash hauler projected cheap image on Main St.

Ringler asked if Wages, Equipment Rental and Material expenses in budget were related to snow removal, City Manager indicated that they were. Board discussed asphalt mural but felt it wasn’t priority right now. Board discussed graphic design for creation of downtown parking map and also replacement for the downtown shopping map. Ringler stated that he knew a graphic design person that he would contact. City Manager indicated that Laura Ensley also had a graphic design person that could be contacted. City Manager to look into whether REGIS system could be used for this purpose but commented that REGIS might lack the style that matched with downtown theming. 9. CORRESPONDENCE.

A. Marihuana Update

City Manager answered questions from Board Members about City’s recently adopted marihuana laws.

B. DDA ZOOM Public Notice 10. CITY MANAGER/DDA DIRECTOR’S REPORT. City Manager commented that COVID19 had really impacted DDA efforts to get some of its

goals accomplished this year.

11. TRUSTEE COMMENTS. Beier stated he was impressed at how adaptable businesses, the public and 2020 graduates

have been with COVID19. Hopkins stated that businesses have had to adapt to survive and worried that unlimited amount

of marijuana businesses may be bad for local established businesses by driving up real estate prices and buying up the buildings, only to be vacant in a couple years.

Howland stated that she was excited for all of the changes coming to downtown. Powell stated that Garden Club was working on potential project that included downtown

planter boxes, hoped that downtown planter boxes would be taken care of this year. Vriesenga stated that he was happy that is was summer but that he didn’t like COVID19. Ringler stated that everybody should be supporting local businesses and that everybody should

be on lookout for business owners who could join DDA to replace Gebhardt who was likely resigning from Board.

Hopkins motioned Powell seconded to adjourn.

No member of the public made a comment. The Board had informal discussions about

garbage cans and cigarette butt holders and the Chamber of Commerce grant opportunity. Board discussed various ideas of what the Chamber could do with the Chamber’s Grant Opportunity including dog park, benches, playground equipment. Sign committee to put together recommendation and work with Chamber on Garbage Bins/Butt holders. Chamber president to be invited to future DDA meetings.

Banner Cost Estimate The labor and equipment cost for 50 banners:

• $284.00 to put up or take down on Main St from Beech to Maple.

• $497.00 to put up or take down on Main St from Muskegon to Maple. Muskegon to Maple would include the black light poles on Muskegon East and West of Main.
