    THE REGULATIONSOF UNIVERSITY PROGRAMMES

    AT CRACOW UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS

    Article 1

    General

    1

    1. The Regulations of Cracow University of Economics specify the organization and courseof studies and related student rights and obligations.

    . The Regulations apply to full!time and part!time first cycle "#$% #&c' and second cycle"($% (&c' programmes as well as to students attending courses under e)changeprogrammes.

    *. +ees for tuition or educational services and related documents are specified in separateregulations and agreements in writing concluded between the student and the University.

    ,. The terms used below in the Regulations shall have the following meanings-

    1) University Cracow University of Economics%

    2) studies/programmes/courses university programmes% i.e. first and second cycleprogrammes%

    3) teaching organizational unit department% institute or inter!faculty unit "e.g.institute'% as specified by the University0s $rticles of $ssociation% conducting classesas part of the plan of studies and teaching programme%

    4) regulations used in a general sense the Regulations of Cracow University ofEconomics%

    5) $ct the $ct in force the igher Education 2aw "3ournal of 2aws of 41% point56% with later amendments'.

    1. &tudents are formally admitted to the University upon matriculation and ta7ing the

    student oath.. +ollowing the matriculation ceremony% students sign a tuition agreement and receive

    student boo7s and student 89s. &tudents should sign agreements and collect theirstudent boo7s and 89s within one month after admission.

    *. &tudents are entitled to 7eep their student 89s until the day of completing theirprogrammes% the day of being suspended as students% the day of being e)pelled fromthe University% and in the case of the graduates of first cycle programmes until *1:ctober of the year of completing their programme.

    ,. Upon completing their programmes and in the event of suspension or e)pulsion studentsare obliged to promptly return their student 89s "not applicable to the graduates of firstcycle programmes as specified under section *'. The student boo7 is a document whichrecords the course and results of studies and is owned by students.

    5. &hould a student 89 be destroyed or lost% students are obliged to promptly notify theUniversity of this fact.

    ;. 9ocumentation related to the course of studies is 7ept in the form of student personalfiles at 9ean0s offices in accordance with separate regulations.

    *1. The Rector is the students0 superior at the level of the University% and the 9ean at the

    . The plans of studies and teaching programmes are made available to the generalpublic through +aculty websites not later than ; months prior to the beginning of the firstyear of studies.

    *. &tudents attend particular courses in accordance with the plans of studies andteaching programmes which are valid in the academic year in which they begin theirstudies.

    ,. The provisions of section * are not applicable to students who repeat one term oftheir studies% students who continue their courses after ta7ing a leave% students whoresume attending their courses% students who attend some of the courses outside theUniversity% or those transferred from other universities.

    5. &pecial principles and terms of attending programmes held in foreign languages areset forth in $ppendi) Ao. 1 to the Regulations.

    ;. Classes and lectures can be conducted on the basis of distant learning methods andtechniolish $ccreditation Commission.

    ;1. The term is a period in which students should fulfill their

    obligations with regard to obtaining necessary credits.. Under specific circumstances "e.g. accidents resulting in the student0s long!term

    inability to fulfill his/her obligations% a chronic and lasting medical condition% the necessityto care for a sic7 relative'% at the student0s written =ustified and confirmed re

    ;. &tudents attending F8>F programmes should obtain all thereF programmes can obtain credits for selected parts of the teaching programme% if approved by relevant 9eans "selectedsub=ects or term programmes'% at a different University +aculty or a different >olish orforeign university which apply ECT& in compliance with the reF programmes are entitled to havetheir credits for additional sub=ects and completing specialty programmes recorded in therelevant documents and to have their additional specialties "if completed' recorded intheir diplomas. The respective data are confirmed by e)aminers or 9eans.

    B1. Gith the reservations of sections !;% students or

    graduates of the first ma=or full!time programme are entitled to attend another ma=or full!time programme without paying a fee for tuition.

    1) in the cases specified under section point 1 a disability certificate issued by anauthorised entity%

    2) in the cases specified under section point a relevant medical certificate%

    3) in the case specified under section point * a medical certificate confirming amedical condition and a student0s statement confirming the fact that he/she cares for

    a sic7 family member "degree of 7inship'%4) in the cases specified under section point , a relevant document issued by aUniversity entity%

    5) in the case specified under section point 5 a relevant document =ustifying astudent0s application for the F8THF programme.

    5. $ student0s application for D8THF for a given term/year should be submitted within wee7s after the beginning of this term/year. +ollowing the 9ean0s approval and within aperiod of two wee7s% a student is obliged to submit a schedule of obtaining credits%agreed on with the teacher conducting a given class% for the 9ean0s approval.     5' observe the principles of social life and respect University staff members%;' participate in classes/lectures and internships%6' obtain their credits in due time% sit reermission to resume studies is granted by the 9ean.

    *. &tudies can be resumed at the beginning of the term following the one that has beencompleted in accordance with the plan of studies and teaching programmes. 8n the eventof ma=or programme differences the 9ean may transfer a student who resumes studiesto a lower term or year of studies.

    ,. Resumption of studies related to repeating a term applies to students who were admittedto the term which is not completed@ it is confirmed in the records of the course of studies.

    5. &tudents removed from the official file of students as a result of their failure to completethe first term are not allowed to resume studies. 8nstead% they may apply for admissionagain% which is specified in separate regulations.

    ;. &tudents e)pelled from the University due to late payments may apply for re!admissionafter meeting their financial obligations toward the University.

    1;1. &tudents may apply for a short! or long term leave "one term or one

    year'@ applications must be well!grounded and accompanied by relevant documents. The9ean decides on the duration of leaves% depending on the circumstances.

    . $ student0s leave can be prolonged by another year in the event of a

    chronic medical condition "confirmed by a medical certificate% childbirth or the necessityto care for a child'.*. &tudents should apply for a leave immediately after the occurrence

    of the above circumstances. $ leave cannot be granted as a result of a student0s failureto ma7e satisfactory progress in his/her wor7. $ leave cannot be granted for the reasonswhich occurred in previous periods "terms'.

    ,. The granting of a leave is confirmed in writing by the 9ean andrecorded in the documentation related to the course of studies as well as in the studentboo7.

    5. &tudents retain their student rights during a leave. The rights relatedto material assistance during a leave are specified in separate regulations.

    ;. 9uring a leave students may% when approved by the 9ean% attend

    selected classes and obtain credits "classes and e)aminations'.6. &tudents attending two programmes may apply for one or two

    leaves.B. $t the end of a leave granted for medical reasons students are

    obliged to submit a medical certificate to the dean0s office confirming their ability toresume studies.

    161. &tudents% especially those with disabilities% can be transferred by the 9ean to another

    group of students% a lab class% a seminar% etc. for significant health!related ororganizational reasons.

    . 8n =ustified cases students with disabilities can apply for permission to be transferredto another classroom or lecture room. $pplications should be submitted early enough to

    ma7e necessary changes to class schedules.*. &tudents with disabilities% in =ustified cases and when approved by their teacher% have

    the right to 7eep records of classes with the use of such techniersons who assist students with disabilities may not be professionallyengaged in the sub=ect of the class. Their assistance offered to students with disabilitieswhile they ta7e tests or sit e)aminations should be approved by the 9ean.

    ;. &tudents with disabilities% in =ustified cases% and not later than 6 days prior to thebeginning of an e)amination session% can apply for permission to use non!standardprocedures for sitting e)aminations/obtaining credits.

    6. The solutions specified in sections !; apply to students who submit disabilitycertificates issued by authorised bodies.

    B. $ny further information on the manner of assisting students with disabilities isprovided in the Rector0s ordinance% which is available on the University0s website.

    11. &tudents who do not accept an e)amination grade and e)press

    =ustified reservations about the teacher0s ob=ectivity or the manner of conducting ane)amination may submit a written application% within 6 days after obtaining the grade% fora commission test/e)amination.

    . The commission is composed of the 9ean chairman of thecommission a commission e)aminer appointed by the 9ean% the e)aminer about whoa student e)presses his/her reservations and/or a person in charge of the sub=ect.

    1. +ollowing the 9ean0s approval% a dissertation can be written by a team of students.

    Contributions made by particular students are specified by the supervisor.. $ diploma dissertation is assessed% in the form of a written review% by a supervisor and a

    reviewer/second reader appointed by the 9ean.*. $ reviewer must hold the degree of doctor "or higher'% with the reservations of section ,.,. Ghen a supervisor holds the degree of doctor% a reviewer must hold the degree of Fdr

    habF "assistant professor'.5. $ reviewer may not be an employee of the same teaching organizational unit unless this

    unit is the only one which employs e)perts in a given area related to the dissertation.;. $ reviewer can be an employee of another university.6. $ supervisor and a reviewer should present their reviews within two wee7s after

    submitting a dissertation.B. $ dissertation is assessed by a supervisor and reviewer according to the scale specified

    under 1B section 1. The final grade is the arithmetic mean of grades proposed by asupervisor and reviewer% converted into the scale specified in 1B section 1 in thefollowing way-

    1' 5.5 and above e)cellent "5.5'%' ,.65 5., very good "5.4'%*' ,.5 ,.6, good plus ",.5'%,' *.65 ,., good ",.4'%5' *.5 *.6, satisfactory plus "*.5'%;' *.44 *., satisfactory "*.4'.

    . 8f a reviewer does not propose a passing grade% the 9ean appoints another reviewer. 8nthe event of another failing grade a student should submit a corrected version of thedissertation within a period of time specified by the 9ean.

    14. 8n the event of a well!founded suspicion that a student has unlawfully used a significantfragment or elements of another person0s wor7 in his/her dissertation% the Rectorrecommends the application of proceedings specified under 1 sections *!;.

    11. Under the circumstances specified under section 14% the Rector% along withrecommending investigation proceedings% may suspend a student0s rights until thedisciplinary commission passes its verdict% as specified under 1 section *.

    1. 8f investigation proceedings and collected evidence confirm the occurrence of actionsspecified in section 14% the Rector ceases the proceedings aimed to confer a degreeuntil the disciplinary commission passes its verdict% and notifies the relevant authoritiesof committing a criminal act.

    and reviewer ! members. 8n =ustified cases a reviewer may be replaced by another staffmember who holds the scientific degree of doctor "or higher'.

    5. The sub=ect of a diploma e)am is the defence of a dissertation as well as the issuesrelated to ma=or and specialty programmes.

    . $ student whose average grades for the study programme are below *.4% regardless ofgrades for a dissertation or a diploma e)amination% receives a satisfactory grade inhis/her diploma.

    Chapter Al&-ni

    *1. ?raduates receive a diploma of completing a higher education programme along with

    the title of (aster% #$ or Engineer% depending on the type of studies and a ma=orprogramme.

    . The University issues a diploma% two copies of a diploma and the so called supplement.&tudents should pay a fee for their diplomas and submit a recent photo.

    5. 8f a student is admitted to the University% he/she may apply for recognition of theobtained credit for a given sub=ect. 9ecisions in this matter are made by universityteachers and they are final.
