NON-RESIDENT

Non-residents can register for most Easton Park & Rec programs/camps (except where noted) at an additional 10% fee, when space is available.

Easton employees residing out of town can register at the resident rate.

AGE REQUIREMENT Children must meet the age requirement before the session of the program/camp for which they

are registered, proof of age may be required.

CANCELLATION/REFUND POLICY If any program is cancelled by Park & Rec, you will receive an email ASAP from Eastonrec.com.

All fees would then be credited or refunded. If a withdrawal occurs before the start of a program, you will receive a full credit or refund. After the program starts, no refunds will be issued. A credit

may be issued depending on the reason for withdrawal. Requests for refund or credit due to medical reasons will be handled on an individual basis.

If Easton schools are cancelled, then all recreation programs held in the schools are also cancelled. This information will also be posted on our Facebook page and Twitter. *Please be aware that

some programs missed classes will be made up at the end of the session. *There are NO REFUNDS or CREDITS for Extended Day, Day Camp or Adventure Camp.

During the course of our programs we may be, at times, taking photos of the activities and its participants. By attending or participating in a program/camp, you are giving your permission to

take and publish photos of your children. If you do not wish for your child to be photographed, you must submit this request in writing to our office.

Pre-K Soccer Get a head start at becoming a great soccer star with this program from Youth Elite Soccer. Children ages 3 - 5 can enroll in the program in which they will learn the basics from skills such as dribbling, passing, trapping and heading the ball within an environment that encourages imagination. Get some fresh air, meet new friends and have fun in this 6 week program--which is FREE for Easton Residents. Pre-registration is required as this program does fill up. The Wizard’s School of Magic Students will learn four magic tricks from Tom O’Brien, a full-time professional magician. Tom is a master at his craft and is a wonderful and entertaining teacher as well. Chess is Math. Chess has been proven to develop memory, concentration, focus, logical thinking and the ability to calculate. Classes will involve playing and learning-based on an established curriculum. The goal is to enable all students to play a reasonable game of chess by the end of the session. Mr. Glenn Budzinski has been a chess teacher, expert-level player and sanctioned U.S. Chess Federation tournament director for 40 years. Two of his students are current scholastic state chess champions. MARTIAL ARTS This 5 & 6 week program will help your children develop many skills, such as discipline, focus and concentration. The program will include karate, tae kwon do, aikido, ju-jitsu, and other various systems of self-defense. The course will also include bully busting and stranger danger. Students will also have the opportunity to achieve certain belts throughout the program. Anatomy Academy by Mad Science Calling all future doctors and scientists! Step into our Anatomy Academy, with a Mad Science pedometer, and come on a journey with us inside the human body! Excavate a real dissection to learn about body systems and nutrition; create a slimy, blood clot to bring home; use glow in the dark technology to discover how to protect our skin and how skin protects; use microslide viewers and test tubes to view cells and DNA close up; and put your hands on more real life doctor tools and experiments that will blow your mind! STEAM Lab Masters by Mad Science Get ready to put your science googles on and dig deep into science! Let’s see what you can invent, build, zap, and what science experiments you can create! This program will cover all the ins and outs of science and turn you into a master scientist! Everything from gears to lasers to circuits to rockets to chemical reactions; this class has it all! See hands on, and bring home, things that are gooey, zoom, crank, pop, flash, boom, and spark! Be ready, this class will constantly surprise you with all our Mad Science Top Secrets! Field Hockey Clinic FREE 6-WEEK FIELD HOCKEY CLINIC FOR GIRLS. This is a great way to introduce girls to Field Hockey by learning the fundamentals and scrimmaging. This clinic will be coached by Easton resident and mom of two, Stefanie Fiondella whose background in field hockey includes, playing for Norwalk High School (varsity for 3 years, receiving Honorable Mention), co-founding and played on the Club Field Hockey Team at UConn and after graduating playing for the North East Field Hockey Association in New York and coaching the freshmen team at Norwalk High School. Beginner: Player has either never held a racquet or has played sparingly without having had formal instruction. Advanced Beginner: Player has had introduction to grips and strokes, starts to make contact with ball on regular basis. Low Intermediate: Player is starting to keep the ball in play, learning to serve, can volley, learning court positioning. Intermediate: Player can keep the ball in play consistently, can hit with some spin, can serve and rally consistently.

Youth indoor tennis lessons at Samuel Staples Elementary School late fall and winter. Classes will focus on teaching basic strokes along with playing lots of

games. This is for beginners/advanced beginners. Portable nets will be used and classes will be taught by certified instructors with a ratio of five students to one

WINTER PICK-UP BASKETBALL BY SKYHAWKS This fun, skill-intensive program uses our progressional curriculum and focuses on the whole

player. We teach your child the skills needed both on and off the court to be a better athlete. Our

basketball staff will focus on passing, shooting, dribbling, defense and rebounding as well as

respect, teamwork, and responsibility. Practice/games will be held Saturday mornings at Helen

Keller Middle School gym in 1-hour time blocks, 40 minutes for Kindergarten.

Kindergarten boys and girls (combined) will be running from 9:00 am – 9:40 am. 1st & 2nd grade boys and girls (combined) will be running from 9:45 am–10:45 am. 3, 4 & 5 grade boys and girls (combined) will be running from 10:50 am – 11:50 am. Due to lower enrollment, we will have pickup games and will not be assigning teams.

Teams will have 30 minutes of practice before the 30-minute game times.

Please note cancellations due to inclement weather will not be made up.

Dates: Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019 – Feb. 1, 2020, 6 weeks (No games 12/21, 12/28 & 1/18) Fee: $100

BASKETBALL BY RICK BARRY, FUTURE STARS “The Rick Barry Basketball School is a comprehensive program for boys and girls ages 5-12. The program, as developed by NBA Hall of Fame player, Rick Barry and USA TODAY’S Most Caring Coach, Jim Olayos is designed to teach the game of basketball by using proven methods and concepts. The program consists of instruction, contests and game play using age-appropriate equipment. The program also includes the award winning and nationally recognized “Lessons of Life” character development program. Mini Picasso – Drop off class Your Mini Picasso will learn the basics of art through interactivity and tactility while having fun painting, splattering, sculpting, mixing, building and creating. Fine Art Fundamentals & Painting/The Next Level Instructor: Robert Casilla Students will learn fundamental methods of drawing and painting from life using live models and still life. Students will work in a variety of mediums: charcoal, watercolors, colored pencils and pastels. In order for students to develop and advance as artists they must have the necessary skills in order to become fine artists. In this class, your child will apply their skills from Fine Art Fundamentals and bring them into “The Next Level”. Get ready to see your child’s work come to life as they build upon their foundation, learn from trial and error as Robert assists, and break out of their comfort zones as they try new techniques. Our Extended Day program is a recreationally based program offering participants the

opportunity to spend their before & after school time in a safe, structured environment. Snack

time, homework help will be offered as well as numerous other recreational activities such as arts

and crafts, sports, special guest entertainers, and much more! We run following the SSES

schedule, mornings from 7:00am until the start of school and afternoons from the end of school

until 6:00pm. EXTENDED DAY IS HELD IN ROOM #139 IN THE KINDERGARTEN

HALLWAY.

Registration for the program is ongoing and based on availability during the school year.

Registration information, the program manual and all forms can be found at the Park and

Recreation Office or on our website www.eastonrec.com.

Important Info!

Please be sure you have read the Extended Day Manual. Parents are accepting

responsibility for ALL information provided in the manual.

Returning families: Don't forget to review your online information! No new forms are

necessary.

New families: Please be sure to fill out the Emergency Contact Form, set up your account

online, pay the $25 registration fee and. All hard copy forms must be handed in before your child

can attend the program.

Sibling discounts only adhere if the same schedule applies and will be taken

automatically.

The online Extended Day calendar goes until June 21st; if school ends earlier you will

receive a credit on your account.

Drop off between 7:00AM & 8:30AM and pick up between 4:00PM & 6:00PM for

Extended Day is behind the school at the kindergarten hallway entrance.

Pick-up and drop-offs after 8:30AM or before 4:00PM MUST go through the front

entrance to the school because of the school bus line.

Classroom #139 is the last classroom on your right when you walk into the kindergarten

hallway at SSES from the rear entrance.

Extended Day closes at 5:00PM on the following days: 11/27, 12/20, 2/13, 4/9 & last

day of school (TBD)

There will be no credits or refunds given for missed days.
