08:00 am–09:00 am Welcome & Breakfast09:00 am–09:15 am Introduction09:15 am–10:45 am Basics of safety loops in process automation
acc. to IEC 61508This presentation explains the basics of functional safety: Overview of related norms and guidelines; basic principle of calculation and layout of safety loops; description of basic parameters such as HFT, SFF and PFD. HAZOP and Risk assessment using the Risk Graf Method. Practical examples will be given.
10:45 am–11:15 am Break & Exhibition11:15 am–12:30 am Practical examples of safety loop design
Based on the previous presentation, six different examples from process automation, covering a wide range of applications, are presented. The design, calculation and the risk analysis of safety loops will be described in detail for each application.
12:30 am–01:30 pm Lunch break01:30 pm–03:00 pm SIL – Life Cycle Management acc. to IEC 61511
This presentation describes in detail all necessary steps for the Life Cycle management acc. To IEC 61511. This comprises planning, risk analysis, validation, documentation, optimization and the complete maintenance process. Practical examples are given to each of the steps, allowing to get full comprehension for the subject.
03:00 pm–03:20 pm Break & Exhibition03:20 pm–04:00 pm Usage of SIL certificates and generic data
Firstly, some of the pitfalls behind product “SIL certificates” will be uncovered. What information is needed and how to interpret it. Finally, the possibilities for using generic data is discribed and where to get it. A thorough analysis of existing data resources is given.

Agenda
Functional Safety (SIL) in the process industry
This seminar is for system integrators, consulting engineers and end users in process industry, including chemical, petro-chemical, energy as well as oil and gas branches. The focus of this seminar is to provide the attendee a thorough understanding of planning, documentation and operation of safety related systems. All presentations are absolutely non commercial. Many practical examples allow for a comprehensive build up of knowledge in functional safety. The last presentation will provide valuable information on how and where to obtain failure rates that are not provided on vendor certificates in terms of SIL . We will also review how the information is presented on the certificates produced by the most important global data providers.
