The AFH was formed in 1983 by Mrs Induben Mehta, Gopalbhai Popat, Kapoorbhai Chanderia,B.M Patel and G.L. Patel. with the idea of helping the disadvantaged mainly the Blind. It wasofficially registered with the Charity Commission in 1984.

Over the last 25 years, as well as collecting 3 million pounds in donations, AFH has collected anddonated second hand clothing, food, spectacles and medicine to India, Bangladesh, Ghana, Kenya,Tanzania & Uganda. We have recently started doing water projects in Kenya in conjunction withNituben Shah.

In the early days, AFH had major dealings with Royal Commonwealth Society for the Blind forcarrying out eye-camps, eye-operations and various other eye treatments in the poor countries.

As AFH started to gain experience, it started to work directly with the various charities in India tohelp setup housing projects in Porbandar, Gujarat, Homes for elderly in Lonavala, Medical Hospi-tal in Lonavala, Gawshala in Mithapur and lots of other projects like cow protection, food for life,Samuh Lagnas, etc.

AFH has held religious Kathas every year to raise awareness and raise funds for the disabled andhandicapped people and education for the disadvantaged children. We have also worked withLions Club of Kingsbury to provide ambulances in India.

Within UK, we have given donations to St.Lukes Hospice, Mencap and other charities associatedwith the Mayors of Harrow and Brent.

Through one of our Trustees, Mr Vinubhai Kotecha, AFH has organised Samuh Lagnas wherearound 100 couples get married. Each couple is given bedding, household utensils and clothingto give them a helping hand towards their married life.

Each year AFH has also held a raffle to raise general funds for the various projects.
