WELCOMEThe United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) and Al Ain City Municipality (AAM), in partnership with the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), are proud to announce the fourth edition of the International Conference on Engineering Geophysics (ICEG), taking place on 9-12 October 2017 in Al Ain, UAE. The conference is officially part of the Initiatives and Activities Calendar for Abu Dhabi Emirate as per Decree 13/38/2015 of The Executive Council of Abu Dhabi Emirate.
One highlight of this year’s technical agenda will be the judging and awarding of the Innovation Award for Geophysics. This award is the first of its kind with both written and oral entries that will compete for several cash prizes, first prize being US $10,000. This competition is designed to both attract and recognize internationally renowned and respected researchers in near-surface geophysics, and provide a unique opportunity for all in the near-surface geophysical community to judge for themselves some of the most monumental contributions of our time to our science and society.
A popular session unveiled for the first time at ICEG 2015 that received high acclaim and requests for a return in 2017 was the Best of ICEEG 2016. The ICEEG has been one of the longest running and most highly attended near-surface geophysics conferences in China. As a long time organizer and presenter, Jianghai Xia is helping to bring back this special session to the ICEG for a second time in 2017. It provided a very revealing glimpse into the cutting edge of engineering and environmental geophysics currently active around China and the region. This session provided engaging conversation during ICEG 2015 and based on the lineup being assembled for 2017 it promises to provide even more thoughtful and enlightening discussions during this year’s conference.
The 2017 ICEG technical program will feature 118 presentations in 19 oral sessions and 2 poster sessions submitted by speakers unveiling their current and trending research, visiting from more than 24 countries. This conference promises to bring a diverse group of attendees, researchers, practitioners and geo-professionals in search of geophysical solutions for near-surface problems.
