Before/After School Centers The Friedberg JCC operates off-site before and after-school programs in Baldwin, Bellmore & Island Park. Your child will enjoy structured play and enrichment classes such as art, computers, drama and sports. Snacks and homework supervision are also provided. If needed, your child will be transported by bus to the after-school site in your district.

Must be registered for a minimum of three days per week.

Bright BeginningsPreschool Related Services

through the JCCIf your child needs speech, occupational therapy, physical therapy or counseling

services, Bright Beginnings can help. This initiative of the JCC offers programs,

services and support for families with children with special needs. Our licensed

therapists are provided at no cost to children, ages 3 and above, approved

through their school district’s preschool special education program. We offer

services in our therapy gym, our Oceanside and Merrick sites,

your home or other school settings. You do not have to attend the JCC

preschool to receive services.

Camp AchieveServing children ages 5-13 on the autism spectrum as well as those with developmental disabilities,

Camp Achieve is designed to provide an intimate summer camp experience.

All camp activities are planned to foster socialization and skill building, and are led by experienced, professional staff,

with high staff-to-camper ratios.

SULAM-LIThe Religious School for Jewish

Children with Special Needs(school age and up)

This supplemental religious school program for Jewish students with special needs seeks to adapt the curriculum to the level of each student. It uses a variety of techniques, emphasizing experiential learning and including music, art, games and storytelling.

Fee: $500; Members, $425 for the school year payable directly to SULAM-LI. Scholarships available through SULAM-LI.

Community Connections (CC)An Ezra initiative designed for young adults with disabilities seeking a self-directed life in their community. The Friendship Connection forAdults with Disabilities

This group is for adults with disabilities to meet friends and have fun. Activities include games, swimming and arts & crafts. Trips to restaurants, the bowling alley and movies are planned as well.

1st & 3rd Wednesday of every monthFee: $10 at JCC, $5 plus cost of the activity in the community; Members, $5 at the JCC, free in the community (participant must pay cost of the activity).

Great Houses of Worship TourWednesday, July 13

Join us as we visit several houses of worship in the New York Metropolitan area. The experience is like traveling to other countries. Historian and Radio Personality Art Zuckerman will lead our group with possible stops at a prominent Hindu temple in Queens, a Chinese Temple in Chinatown, the Angel Orensanz Synagogue in the Lower East Side, St. John the Divine and an Islamic mosque uptown. Whenever possible we will meet with clergy to learn more about the cultures of the populations they serve. We will enjoy a three-course lunch along the way. This is sure to be an enjoyable and informative day out.

Core & More Fun cardio-based core-challenging class utilizies simple hand-held weights, twisting, bending, pushing, pulling, lunging and squatting in a refreshing and creative way.

Core BarreCombines the best of ballet training exercises, light weight lifting and Pilates to create a deep muscle toning and strengthening class. Targets abs, thighs, glutes and arms.

Core FusionThis heart-pumping, soul-seeking, energy-inducing fitness program focuses on core strength for the ultimate full body workout. Using weights, balls, bands, and your own body weight as resistance.

Core PilatesTake mat pilates to the next level. Transform your mind and body while improving your health. Based on the teachings of Joseph H Pilates, this technique is designed to increase strength, improve your posture and increase stamina.
