MR-Basic Course Description 2
Description:
MR1BASICS is a 10-day course covering the fundamentals of Magnetic Resonance. Lecture topics include MR
Safety, a historical review of MR, principals of MR imaging, and the typical hardware components of a MRsystem. Lab sessions are designed to complement the lecture. Lab activities include the handling and operation
of current MAGNETOM MR systems. Typical imaging protocols and preparation adjustments for a
measurement are discussed and demonstrated in the lab. An introduction to the service software and service
routines is given. Common preventative maintenance procedures are discussed.
This course is the prerequisite for the system training MR2AVANTO, MR2SYMHAR, MR2CONCERTO,
MR2VISION, MR2IMPEXP, MR2MAG035, MR2JAZZ and any other MR modality.
Prerequisites:
A working knowledge of digital and analog electronics, former experience with computer basedsystems and preferable service experience with electronic systems.
The former participation of the MR2SYNGO course and the MRBASICS prestudy CBT courseMR0BASICS with a final prestudy test grade of > 70%.
Who should attend?
Future CSEs for the MRI product service as a prerequisite for the classroom-based training course
MR1BASICS.
Objectives:
Understand the basic principles and physics of MRI Understand the general difference to other modalities
Understand the general Siemens safety guidelines and
special MR safety guidelines according to the hazards
of RF-, gradient and strong magnetic fields and the
filling of magnets with cryogenic gases
Understand Siemens customer service processes e.g.
HSC, PS, SD, TC and policies, procedures e.g. order
and return of spare parts, escalation procedures
Understand and describe the basic components of an
MRI system on a block diagram level Perform general quality assurance measurements
General knowledge of the Siemens family of MRI
scanners e.g. low field, high field and ultra high field
systems
Understand the service software and perform general
service diagnostics
Operate the MRI system and perform basic imaging Understand the general use of service tools and test
equipment
Understand the preparation adjustments for imaging Understand general preventive maintenance
procedures
