rate of 1.79% annually, on the average from

2000 to 2010.

• Palawan registered the highest count in the

Region accounting for 36.23% of

MIMAROPA’s total population.

• In 2014, the region’s working age population grew ata rate of 2.5% from 2013

• Labor Force participation rate slightly increase by1.4% from 66.3% in 2013 to 67.2 % in 2014

AGRICULTURE

In 2014, agricultural production such as

palay, corn, cashew, and onion increased

by 4.64 percent, 2.91 percent, 17.96

percent, and 5.91 percent, respectively,

compared to 2013.

On the other hand, calamansi and

garlic production decreased by 5.64

percent and 10.73 percent,

respectively.

AGRICULTURE

Swine and cattle production slightly

increased to 74,222 metric tons and

11,647 metric tons in 2014 or an annual

growth of 1.53 percent and 4.47 percent,

respectively.

Production of carabao and goat

decreased by 1.73 percent and 2.47

percent, respectively in 2014.

Production of chicken registered a decline

of 0.56 percent. Despite the decline,

chicken egg production rose to 9.35

percent compared to the production in

2013.

Duck production increased by 4.97

percent. However, total duck egg

production decreased by 1.48 percent

Commercial fishery production yielded a

total of 44,615.99 metric tons in 2014

which was 1.68 percent higher than the

A total of 1,239,594 tourist arrivals recorded in MIMAROPA for

the year 2014.

Tourist receipts were up to P13.02 billion, higher by 12.12% than

a year ago.

The Cable News Network (CNNGo) listed Tubbataha Reef in

Palawan (8thplace) and The Canyons in Puerto Galera, Oriental

Mindoro (45th place) as two of the best diving sites in the world

in 2014

El Nido, Palawan was also dubbed as one of top spring tourist

destinations by the National Geographic Travel.

POVERTY

• Poverty incidence in MIMAROPA

went down to 23.6 percent in 2012

from 27.2 percent in 2009.

However, it is still higher than the

national poverty incidence of 19.7

decline in poverty incidence in 2012

except for Occidental Mindoro which

increased by 4.8 percentage points

compared to the 2009 level.
