She was a Punta Gorda, Florida native, daughter of the late Horace Hodges and Maxine Dicken who survives. He was a Butler County native, son of the late Harvey and Edith Elaine Coats Woodcock. He was a retired carpenter. Mr. Woodcock is preceded in death by twin boys, Christopher and Jeffrey Woodcock; two brothers, Philmon and Donnie Woodcock. She was a Henderson Co., KY native, daughter of the late William A. Ashley and Marjorie L. Ashley who survives. She is preceded in death by one brother, William L. Ashley. Wanda Aleen Bratcher left this present world and went peacefully on to Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on the 7th day of May, 2011. She was born on April 24, 1920 in Elfie, KY. Wanda met and then married Everett Thomas Bratcher on January 18, 1941 in Springfield, Tennessee. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Sister Wanda and her husband Everett Bratcher were faithful members of Christ Apostolic Church in Louisville, KY for many years before moving to Houston in 1984 and becoming faithful members at Christ Church. She was a strong woman and faith who stayed true to her convictions and to God. She is preceded in death by her husband, Everette Thomas Bratcher; her siblings, Lawrence Smith, Royce Smith, Deward Smith, Virgie Steff, and Nanbelle Dewitt. He was born in Nashville, TN the son of Clyde and Willie Mae Richardson. Mr. Hensley was a self employed oil well driller and was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. Elwood Lockhart, 70, Glasgow died Thursday, May 19, 2011 at the NHC Healthcare Facility in Glasgow. He was born at Bonayr, the son of the late Homer and Kathryn Louise Patterson Lockhart. Elwood was a professional truck driver and was retired from Dart Container. He served with Headquarters Battery, 1 st Battalion, 623 rd Field Arty. KY Natl. Guard during the Viet Nam War. Elwood enjoyed bowling, travel and RV Camping. He was a founding member of the New Beginnings Baptist Church. Harlan LeRoy Landrum, 87,Glasgow died Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at the Barren County Health Care Facility. Born in Barren County he was the son of the late Harlan “H.Y.” and Jewell Bishop Landrum. LeRoy was a farmer and a member of the Old Zion United Methodist Church. He was a former member of the Barren County School Board and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII. He is survived by his wife of 67 years Mary Martin Landrum; a son Barry Landrum (Faye) of Glasgow, a daughter Rosemary Sturdivant (Charlie) of Glasgow; 3 grandchildren Chris Landrum, Beth Cunningham (Todd) and Amy Buss (Tim); 3 great-grandchildren Matthew Poore, Trace and Tripp Cunningham; a step great- grandchild Ty Cunningham; 2 sisters Dorothy Waller of Bowling Green and Waldeen Settle of Glasgow and several nieces and other family and friends. James Allen Chaney, 87, died May 9, 2011 at Highlands Rehab and Healthcare Center in Bella Vista, Arkansas. The Hart County native was a son of the late Walter and Alice Slaughter Chaney. He served four years in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Machinist Mate Second Class. He graduated from Western Kentucky University Teachers College with a degree in electrical engineering. He worked at what is now known as Oak Ridge National Lab and taught at Memorial High School and high schools in Cairo and Lebanon, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his wives, Hart County native, Margie Wade; Susan LaRoche, and Mildred Parish, one brother and eight sisters. A memorial service will be held Sunday, May 29, 2011 at 5:00 p.m. in the columbarium at Highlands Methodist Church in Bella Vista. Survivors include several nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends Mary Carraway Mitchell, 91, died peacefully May 16, 2011 in Jackson, MS. Meme, as she was known to her children’s friends and family, was born August 14, 1919 in Jackson, MS to Thomas Luther Carraway, Sr . and Marion McNair Carraway. She had two younger brothers, Thomas Luther Carraway, Jr (Pat) and William Cameron Carraway (Will) and enjoyed her status as the only girl within the family. Mary was reared and attended school in Jackson, MS. She graduated from Central High School on June 4, 1937. She attended Millsaps College, Jackson, MS, then transferred her Senior year to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville where she graduated June 2, 1941. Mary was an active member of Chi Omega sorority. Her academic success was recognized by being inducted into the Omicron Delta Kappa honor society . In 1948 she met and married John Terry Mitchell of Glasgow, KY. They lived happily in Glasgow for 50 years. Her volunteer work included working as an Aide in Education for the second grade at Liberty Street School; 1966-1974; Cub Scout Den Mother for 3 years, also participated and served as chairperson for events of the WOC of First Presbyterian Church. She was an active member of and hosted meetings for the DAR; Colonial Dames; and both local and state Garden Clubs. In Jackson, MS Mary was a charter member of the High Noon Luncheon Club. Throughout her life Mary enjoyed traveling throughout the world, working in her garden, playing in her weekly bridge clubs, entertaining her many friends and caring for her family. John and Mary treasured boating activities with family and friends on Old Hickory Lake. In addition to their lake house, they belonged to The Nashville Yacht Club and Cedar Creek Yacht Club. Meme’s family will always remember her for her zest for life, southern hospitality, wonderful meals as well as her loving presence. Mary was preceded in death by her husband John, parents, and brothers. She leaves behind her daughter, Mary Cecelia Mitchell Jones (Paul) of Nashville, TN and her son Geoffrey Carraway Mitchell (Christine) of Jackson, MS. She had three grandchildren, Mary McLaurin Fogel Porter (Waring), John Terry Mitchell, II and Hunter Lee Mitchell as well as three great grandchildren Eric Alexander Porter, Mary Grace Porter, and Andrew Clarke Porter and many beloved nieces and nephews. Harold Garnett Fisher 74 of the Etoile community of Barren County died Saturday, May 21, 2011 at the Barren County Health Care Facility. He was born at Etoile, KY the son of the late Ewell and Verda Lyons Fisher. Harold was a veteran, and served as a missile sight technician in the U.S. Army from 1956-59. He was a former employee of Sorensen Mfg., Belden Wire and Cable, ACK and AMAK. He attended the Caney Fork Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Vivian Murley Fisher; one brother Roy Fisher of Indianapolis; two nieces Carolyn Jefferies (Wayne) of Greenwood, IN and Lou Anne Fairchild (Charles) of Indianapolis; one nephew Robert Fisher (Casey) of Smiths Grove and several great nieces and nephews. Lillian Lucille Terry Shelton, 96, formerly of Linwood, passed from this life on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at the Kensington Manor Nursing Home in Elizabethtown where she had been a resident for the past seven years. She was preceded in death by her husband of almost seventy years, Hubert Ford Shelton; her parents, Samuel Conrad and Louella Hodges Terry; ten siblings, Leo Terry, Grace West, Russell Terry, Lela Shelton, Ora Crocker, Albert Terry, Ruby Plummer, Rudy Terry, Lee Terry, and an infant brother. Lucille was born November 7, 1914 in the Dividing Ridge area of Hart County near Bonnieville. She attended the old Isaacs School at Dividing Ridge, was orphaned at the age of ten, then was taken to live with her older brother, Leo, in Indianapolis, Indiana, where she attended Arsenal Tech High School. She returned to Hart County to marry her sweetheart after a year- long courtship mostly by mail, when she was only seventeen. They married on November 26, 1931 by her future brother-in-law, the Rev. Manley Towles beside the road near Sonora, Kentucky, after having missed their appointed meeting place in Elizabethtown. They made their home in Linwood, were lifelong dairy and tobacco farmers and were extremely community-minded. Lucille worked with the Red Cross during World War II selling war bonds, helped with the distribution of rationing stamps for gasoline, tires, shoes and food, sought donations to the Red Cross and even made bandages for use by the military. She was active in the Utopia Club, the 4-H Club, the Eastern Star, American Dairy Association, Farm Bureau at both county and state levels and was Editor of the Hart County Farm Bureau Newsletter for many years. Lucille was credited by former Congressman William H. Natcher as having penned the letter to him, which inspired him, as Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, to acquire funds with which to establish the Linwood Volunteer Fire Department and Community Center. For as long as she was physically able, she served as an officer on the Board of Directors taking meticulous notes in her position as Secretary. She became a Christian just after the demise of her parents in 1925 and 1926 and joined the Concord Baptist Church. After her marriage, she became a member of the Knoxes Creek Baptist Church in Linwood where she taught Sunday School and served as church treasurer. Later in life, she became a member of the Linwood Baptist Church. Her love of and faith in Jesus Christ has been a shining example to all her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and family. Lucille began her career testing cream for Cudahy Packing Company where she had her own cream station until she was recruited by, worked for and retired from Hart County Creameries in Horse Cave as a laboratory technician. After retirement, she joined her husband in their Safemark Tire and Battery Store in Linwood until both retired. Their next venture was in antiques, traveling to many states and even Canada on buying trips. This joy, they pursued until age and infirmities prevailed. Along with her husband, parents, and ten siblings, she was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Thomas Junior “T.J.” Morris. Left to mourn her loss and cherish her memory are two daughters, June Morris, Elizabethtown, and Delores “Dee” (Dr. Jim) Tapp, Linwood; five grandchildren, Phillip (Penny D.) Morris, Mansfield, Texas, Pamela Morris (David) Mize, Cadiz, Patrice Morris Lang, Louisville, Penny Morris Lucas, Dunbar, West Virginia, and Anya Maria Best (Michael) DeLaura, Chesapeake, Virginia; five great-grandchildren, Ashley Lang (Jeremy) Smith, Bowling Green, Cory Lang, Louisville, Will Hensley, Elizabethtown, Abi Hensley (Joe) Lyon, Bowling Green, and Nick Butler, Elizabethtown, and one brother, Randolph (Helen) Terry, Elizabethtown. Ricky Carver Fox TOMPKINSVILLE — Ricky Carver Fox, 51, died Saturday, May 21, 2011, at Monroe County Medical Center in Tompkinsville. He was the son of the late Oval J. Jerry Lee ‘Slick’ Gee TOMPKINSVILLE — Jerry Lee “Slick” Gee, 59, ofTompkinsville, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at The Medical Center at Bowling Green. He was born August 15, 1951, in Monroe County, KY to the late Allen Gee and Eva Hagan Gee. He served on the Fountain Run and Tompkinsville police departments and was the Assistant Chief of Police in Tompkinsville, Sheriff of Monroe County from 1999 through 2010 and he was the DARE?Officer for Monroe County. He was a member of Monroe Baptist Church, American Legion, VFW, and the National Sheriff’s Association. He served his country in the United States Navy. He was united in marriage to his wife, Paula Brown, on October 27, 1984. He is survived by his wife, Paula Brown Gee, and his daughter, Jerri Beth Gee, both of Tompkinsville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmy and Michael Wayne Gee, and two sisters, Brenda Gee Benberry and Janie Gee. He was a native of Brunswick, GA, but lived in Lucas since 1990. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, a U.S. Navy SP (F) 3/C fire fighter veteran of World War II, a life member and chaplain of Glasgow, Chapter 20 DAV, where he had participated in hundreds of military funeral services. His remains were donated to Louisville School of Medicine. He is survived by two sons, Curtis Burch Jr. and wife Ruth of Bowling Green, and Ricky Burch and wife Nancy of Glasgow; one special daughter, Mrs. Pat Johnson and husband James of Brunswick, GA; four grandchildren: Emily Richey and husband Rollin of Louisville, Ellie Burch of Glasgow, Pixie Jarvis and husband Dr. Jim Jarvis of Bowling Green, and Cynthia Burch of Bowling Green; one great-grandson, Jordan Burch; several nieces and nephews; and the Vaccaro Family of Massachusetts. Charles served as an officer in the U.S. Army Reserve. He was retired from the insurance business. Survivors include sons, Mark and Gary Duncan (Glenda); two grandsons, Austin and Logan; and one sister, Betty D. Powell, of Bardstown. He was a devoted and beloved husband, and a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was born October 6, 1924, and grew up in Socorro, N.M. Cornell graduated from the Kentucky Military Academy, The University of Kentucky, and Indiana University, where he received a doctorate degree. His professional career included teaching, administration and coaching, as well as clinical counseling. He was a member of the Rotary Club, president of the Sun City Center Community Association, president of the Men’s Club of Sun City Center, chairman of Operations and Security, and served on the Resident Advisory Committee. He was also active in St. John the Divine’s Episcopal Church and was an avid lawn bowler. Cornell is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marjorie Mitchell Clarke; children, Debbie Prada (Jesus) of Albuquerque, N.M., Charles Clarke (Linda), Cathy Clarke (Paula) of Seymour, Tenn., and J. Raven Hodges, 47, of Bowling Green, KY passed away on Friday, May 13, 2011 at the Hosparus Care Center in Bowling Green. She was a Punta Gorda, Florida native, daughter of the late Horace Hodges and Maxine Dicken who survives.

She is survived by two daughters, Renee Hill and husband Chris of Bowling Green and Kayla Bailey of South Dakota; two sons, Jessie Hodges and wife Jenny of Munfordville, KY and Samuel Hodges of South Dakota; five grandchildren; mother, Maxine Dicken of Burksville, KY; eight sisters, Paula Garcia and husband Juan of Georgia, Melissa Wright and husband Stevie of Burksville, Angela Day and husband Joe of Burksville, Christy Wilburn and husband Andre of Burksville, Dawn Marie Rodriguez and husband Mario of Cookville, KY, Kathy Moreland and husband Buck of Burksville, Brittany Day of Burksvilleand JoAnn Colvard of California; brother, Matthew Day

Joffrey Woodcock, 75, of Morgantown, KY passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2011 at his residence. He was a Butler County native, son of the late Harvey and Edith Elaine Coats Woodcock. He was a retired carpenter.

Mr. Woodcock is preceded in death by twin boys, Christopher and Jeffrey Woodcock; two brothers, Philmon and Donnie Woodcock.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Cockrell Woodcock of Morgantown; daughter, Ashley Dawn Sublettand husband John Patrick of Morgantown; grandson, Clay Austin Sublett of Morgantown; sister, Janice Muddand husband Larry of Leitchfield, KY; sister in law, Charlotte Woodcock Jackson of Morgantown; 15 nieces and nephews.

Elizabeth Claudine Embry, 54, of Morgantown, KY passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at her residence. She was a Henderson Co., KY native, daughter of the late William A. Ashley and Marjorie L. Ashley who survives. She is preceded in death by one brother, William L. Ashley.

Mrs. Embry is survived by her husband,John Ray Embry of Caneyville, KY; son, John D.

Embry of Leitchfield, KY; mother, Marjorie L. Ashley of Henderson; daughter, Sandra J. Townsell of Henderson; two sons,Kevin W. Mayer of Evansville, KY and Tyler R. Embry of Morgantown; two sisters, Rebecca J. Clark and Kara L. Ashley both of Henderson and eight grandchildren.

Cremation was chosen and funeral arrangements were under the direction of Jones Funeral Chapel.

Wanda Aleen Bratcher left this present world and went peacefully on to Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on the 7th day of May, 2011. She was born on April 24, 1920 in Elfie, KY.

Wanda met and then married Everett Thomas Bratcher on January 18, 1941 in Springfield, Tennessee.

She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Sister Wanda and her husband Everett Bratcher were faithful members of Christ Apostolic Church in Louisville, KY for many years before moving to Houston in 1984 and becoming faithful members at Christ Church. She was a strong woman and faith who stayed true to her convictions and to God.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Everette Thomas Bratcher; her siblings, Lawrence Smith, Royce Smith, Deward Smith, Virgie Steff, and Nanbelle Dewitt.

She is survived by her siblings, Georgia Geary of Caneyville, KY and Linden Smith and wife Kathleen of Morgantown; her

children,Buryl Geary of Houston Texas and Frank Bratcher and wife Charlene of Houston Texas; her grandchildren, Connie Williams and husband Vernon of Houston, Texas, Tim Geary and wife Sandy of Houston, Texas, Kim Ward and husband Randy of Nacogdoches, Texas, Annette Cook and husband Jerry of Joaquin, Texas, Crystal McDanielsand husband Jon of Houston, Texas and Kara Bratcher of Houston, Texas and many great grandchildren, several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Harlan LeRoy Landrum, 87,Glasgow died Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at the Barren County Health Care Facility. Born in Barren County he was the son of the late Harlan “H.Y.” and Jewell Bishop Landrum. LeRoy was a farmer and a member of the Old Zion United Methodist Church. He was a former member of the Barren County School Board and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years Mary Martin Landrum; a son Barry Landrum (Faye) of Glasgow, a daughter Rosemary Sturdivant (Charlie) of Glasgow; 3 grandchildren Chris Landrum, Beth Cunningham (Todd) and Amy Buss (Tim); 3 great-grandchildren Matthew Poore, Trace and Tripp Cunningham; a step great-grandchild Ty Cunningham; 2 sisters Dorothy Waller of Bowling Green and Waldeen Settle of

Glasgow and several nieces and other family and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Thursday, May 19, 2011 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Old Zion Cemetery.

James Allen Chaney, 87, died May 9, 2011 at Highlands Rehab and Healthcare Center in Bella Vista, Arkansas.

The Hart County native was a son of the late Walter and Alice Slaughter Chaney. He served four years in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Machinist Mate Second Class. He graduated from Western Kentucky University Teachers College with a degree in electrical engineering. He worked at what is now known as Oak Ridge National Lab and taught at Memorial High School and high schools in Cairo

and Lebanon, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his wives, Hart County native, Margie Wade; Susan LaRoche, and Mildred Parish, one brother and eight sisters.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, May 29, 2011 at 5:00 p.m. in the columbarium at Highlands Methodist Church in Bella Vista. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Horse Cave Cemetery Fund.

Mary Carraway Mitchell, 91, died peacefully May 16, 2011 in Jackson, MS. Meme, as she was known to her children’s friends and family, was born August 14, 1919 in Jackson, MS to Thomas Luther Carraway, Sr. and Marion McNair Carraway. She had two younger brothers, Thomas Luther Carraway, Jr (Pat) and William Cameron Carraway (Will) and enjoyed her status as the only girl within the family.

Mary was reared and attended school in Jackson, MS. She graduated from Central High School on June 4, 1937. She attended Millsaps College, Jackson, MS, then transferred her Senior year to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville where she graduated June 2, 1941. Mary was an active member of Chi Omega sorority. Her academic success was recognized by being inducted into the Omicron Delta Kappa honor society.

In 1948 she met and married John Terry Mitchell of Glasgow, KY. They lived happily in Glasgow for 50 years. Her volunteer work included working as an Aide in Education for the second grade at Liberty Street School; 1966-1974; Cub Scout Den Mother for 3 years, also participated and served as chairperson for events of the WOC of First Presbyterian Church. She was an active member of and hosted meetings for the DAR; Colonial Dames; and both local and state Garden Clubs. In Jackson, MS Mary was a charter member of the High Noon Luncheon Club. Throughout her life Mary enjoyed traveling throughout the world, working in her garden, playing in her weekly bridge clubs, entertaining her many friends and caring for her family. John and Mary treasured boating

activities with family and friends on Old Hickory Lake. In addition to their lake house, they belonged to The Nashville Yacht Club and Cedar Creek Yacht Club.

Meme’s family will always remember her for her zest for life, southern hospitality, wonderful meals as well as her loving presence.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband John, parents, and brothers. She leaves behind her daughter, Mary Cecelia Mitchell Jones (Paul) of Nashville, TN and her son Geoffrey Carraway Mitchell (Christine) of Jackson, MS. She had three grandchildren, Mary McLaurin Fogel Porter (Waring), John Terry Mitchell, II and Hunter Lee Mitchell as well as three great grandchildren Eric Alexander Porter, Mary Grace Porter, and Andrew Clarke Porter and many beloved nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the caring staff of The Orchard and Odyssey Healthcare for the wonderful attention they provided for Mary.

She was a housewife and a member of Concord Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Clara Dennis Hayes, a infant granddaughter, Lori Michelle Isaacs, a sister, Christine Merker, two brothers, the Rev. Clifton Hayes and Raymond Hayes.

Harold Garnett Fisher 74 of the Etoile community of Barren County died Saturday, May 21, 2011 at the Barren County Health Care Facility. He was born at Etoile, KY the son of the late Ewell and Verda Lyons Fisher. Harold was a veteran, and served as a missile sight technician in the U.S. Army from 1956-59. He was a former employee of Sorensen Mfg., Belden Wire and Cable, ACK and AMAK. He attended the Caney Fork Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by a brother Earl Lee Fisher and a sister Eloise Barlow.

Lillian Lucille Terry Shelton, 96, formerly of Linwood, passed from this life on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at the Kensington Manor Nursing Home in Elizabethtown where she had been a resident for the past seven years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of almost seventy years, Hubert Ford Shelton; her parents, Samuel Conrad and Louella Hodges Terry; ten siblings, Leo Terry, Grace West, Russell Terry, Lela Shelton, Ora Crocker, Albert Terry, Ruby Plummer, Rudy Terry, Lee Terry, and an

infant brother.Lucille was born November 7,

1914 in the Dividing Ridge area of Hart County near Bonnieville. She attended the old Isaacs School at Dividing Ridge, was orphaned at the age of ten, then was taken to live with her older brother, Leo, in Indianapolis, Indiana, where she attended Arsenal Tech High School. She returned to Hart County to marry her sweetheart after a year-long courtship mostly by mail, when she was only seventeen.

They married on November 26, 1931 by her future brother-in-law, the Rev. Manley Towles beside the road near Sonora, Kentucky, after having missed their appointed meeting place in Elizabethtown. They made their home in Linwood, were lifelong dairy and tobacco farmers and were extremely community-minded. Lucille worked with the Red Cross during World War II selling war bonds, helped with the distribution of rationing stamps for gasoline, tires, shoes and food, sought donations to the Red Cross and even made bandages for use by the military.

She was active in the Utopia Club, the 4-H Club, the Eastern Star, American Dairy Association, Farm Bureau at both county and state levels and was Editor of the Hart County Farm Bureau Newsletter for many years. Lucille was credited by former Congressman William H. Natcher as having penned the letter to him, which inspired him, as Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, to acquire funds with which to establish the Linwood Volunteer Fire Department and Community Center. For as long as she was physically able, she served as an officer on the Board of Directors taking meticulous notes in her position as Secretary.

She became a Christian just after the demise of her parents in 1925 and 1926 and joined the Concord Baptist Church. After her marriage, she became a member of the Knoxes Creek Baptist Church in Linwood where she taught Sunday School

and served as church treasurer. Later in life, she became a member of the Linwood Baptist Church. Her love of and faith in Jesus Christ has been a shining example to all her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and family.

Lucille began her career testing cream for Cudahy Packing Company where she had her own cream station until she was recruited by, worked for and retired from Hart County Creameries in Horse Cave as a laboratory technician. After retirement, she joined her husband in their Safemark Tire and Battery Store in Linwood until both retired. Their next venture was in antiques, traveling to many states and even Canada on buying trips. This joy, they pursued until age and infirmities prevailed. Along with her husband, parents, and ten siblings, she was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Thomas Junior “T.J.” Morris. Left to mourn her loss and cherish her memory are two daughters, June Morris, Elizabethtown, and Delores “Dee” (Dr. Jim) Tapp, Linwood; five grandchildren, Phillip (Penny D.) Morris, Mansfield, Texas, Pamela Morris (David) Mize, Cadiz, Patrice Morris Lang, Louisville, Penny Morris Lucas, Dunbar, West Virginia, and Anya Maria Best (Michael) DeLaura, Chesapeake, Virginia; five great-grandchildren, Ashley Lang (Jeremy) Smith, Bowling Green, Cory Lang, Louisville, Will Hensley, Elizabethtown, Abi Hensley (Joe) Lyon, Bowling Green, and Nick Butler, Elizabethtown, and one brother, Randolph (Helen) Terry, Elizabethtown.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm (EDT) Saturday, May 21, 2011 at the Linwood Baptist Church with the Rev. Terry Shelton officiating. Burial followed in the Linwood Memorial Gardens.

He was a member of Monroe Baptist Church, American Legion, VFW, and the National Sheriff’s Association. He served his country in the United States Navy. He was united in marriage to his wife, Paula Brown, on October 27, 1984.

Curtis E. Burch Sr.GLASGOW — Curtis E. Burch Sr., 85, died Tuesday,

May 17, 2011, at T. J. Samson Community Hospital. He was a native of Brunswick, GA, but lived in Lucas since 1990. He

was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, a U.S. Navy SP (F) 3/C fire fighter veteran of World War II, a life member and chaplain of Glasgow, Chapter 20 DAV, where he had participated in hundreds of military funeral services. His remains were donated to Louisville School of Medicine.

He is survived by two sons, Curtis Burch Jr. and wife Ruth of Bowling Green, and Ricky Burch and wife Nancy of Glasgow; one special daughter, Mrs. Pat Johnson and husband James of Brunswick, GA; four grandchildren: Emily Richey and husband Rollin of Louisville, Ellie Burch of Glasgow, Pixie Jarvis and husband Dr. Jim Jarvis of Bowling Green, and Cynthia Burch of Bowling Green; one great-grandson, Jordan Burch; several nieces and nephews; and the Vaccaro Family of Massachusetts.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Glen W. Lane; two sons, Ronald Wilson Lane and Mark Brown Lane; five brothers, James Buford McCandless, Stanley Ralph McCandless, Brown McCandless Jr., Bill Tom McCandless and Joe Ray McCandless; two sisters, Mary Eugenia McCandless and Ruie Evelyn McCandless. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She lived in Metcalfe County until 1975 when she moved to Campbellsville, Ky. In 2005, she moved to Danville, Ky., for the remainder of her life. She worked over 25 years at Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville.

Cornell Cedar ClarkeSun City Center, Fla. — Cornell Cedar Clarke, age 86, of Sun City Center,

Fla. and formerly of Glasgow, KY, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2011. He was a devoted and beloved husband, and a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was born October 6, 1924, and grew up in Socorro, N.M. Cornell graduated from the Kentucky Military Academy, The University of Kentucky, and Indiana University, where he received a doctorate degree. His professional career included teaching, administration and coaching, as well as clinical counseling. He was a member of the Rotary Club, president of the Sun City Center Community Association, president of the Men’s Club of Sun City Center, chairman of Operations and Security, and served on the Resident Advisory Committee. He was also active in St. John the Divine’s Episcopal Church and was an avid lawn bowler.

Cornell is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marjorie Mitchell Clarke; children, Debbie Prada (Jesus) of Albuquerque, N.M., Charles Clarke (Linda), Cathy Clarke (Paula) of Seymour, Tenn., and J. Mitchell Clarke (Lynne) of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, David, Javier, Sara, Candace, Meghan, Katharine, Mitchell, Christian and Nicholas; and great-grand-children, Gianna and Saffron. Louise Patterson Lockhart. Elwood was a professional truck driver and was retired from Dart Container. He served with Headquarters Battery, 1st Battalion, 623rd Field Arty. KY Natl. Guard during the Viet Nam War. Elwood enjoyed bowling, travel and RV Camping. He was a founding member of the New Beginnings Baptist Church.

Estes and a former employee of Topps Manufacturing. She was a member of Mt. Moriah Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by two sons; Teddy (Ann) Shive and Gary (Lou) Shive, both of Summer Shade; one daughter-in-law, Inez Shive of Glasgow; grandchildren, Ricky (Monye) Shive, Shannon (Sherry) Shive, Pam (Mark) Ford, David (Ashley) Shive, Erica (Moe) Hensley, Kimberly (Zack) Coleman and Mark (Lesley) Shive; great-grandchildren, Jared and Jannah Shive, Kaden Shive, Alex Shive, Tatum and Mark Hensley, Kelly and MacKenzie Coleman; step great-grandchildren, Kaleb and Will Broady Spillman.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Shive, one son, Don Roger Shive and two brothers, Herman and Robert Estes.

Funeral services were 1 p.m. Saturday at McMurtrey Funeral Home with burial in Summer Shade Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Summer Shade Fire Department or Summer Shade Cemetery.

Thursday May 19, 2011, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.She was the daughter of the late Clem and Glenzie Coomer

Hamilton. She was a former employee of Metcalfe Health Care in Edmonton and member of the Edmonton Worship Center.

She is survived by her husband, Lindy Romines, and one brother, Estill Hamilton, both of Edmonton. Two nephews Tracy and Troy Romines, of Edmonton, and two great nephews, Coby and Jackson Romines, both of Edmonton.

Funeral services were 2 p.m. Sunday at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in the Metcalfe County Memorial Gardens.

Kenneth (Kenny) TrentLEGRANDE — Kenneth (Kenny) Trent, 68, of Legrande, passed

away Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at Caverna Memorial Hospital ER.He was a Hart County native, a retired farmer and a member of the Immanuel

Ministry Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Reid Trent and Lucille Hensley Trent, and by two brothers, Donnie and Sammy Trent.

He is survived by: his wife, Carolyn Jewell Trent of Legrande; one daughter, Melissa Harp and husband Calvin of Munfordville; 3 sons: Kenneth Trent Jr. and wife Susan, of Winchester,KY, Kevin Trent and wife Neicy of Legrande, and Kris Trent and wife Becky of Munfordville; step-daughter, Amanda Steffey of Barren County; 2 step-sons, Randall Jeffries and wife Alicia of Center, and Justin Pearson and wife, Sammi Jo of Cave City; 19 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Dennis Trent and wife Sandra, and Pastor Phillip Trent and wife Linda, both of Horse Cave; sister-in-law, Linda Trent of Bowling Green; uncle, Everett Hensley of Monroe; aunts, Alice Perkins of Cecila and Dixie Norman of Horse Cave; also several nieces and nephews survive.

Funeral services were 2 p.m. Saturday May 21, 2011, at Immanuel Ministry Church at Legrande with burial to follow in the Cosby Cemetery. Funeral arrangements under direction of Winn Funeral Home, Horse Cave.

Clyde William HensleyEDMONTON – Clyde William Hensley, 89, of Edmonton,

died Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at the Medical Center at Bowling Green. He was born in Nashville, TN the son of Clyde and Willie Mae Richardson. Mr. Hensley was a self-employed oil well driller and was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. He was a member of the South Edmonton Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Nell; three daughters, Loretta (Steve) Glass of Knob Lick, Connie (Randy) Vernon of Maysville, and Karen (Marc) Garrison of Hilton Head, SC; one sister, Mary Evelyn Glass of Shepherdsville, KY; one sister-in-law, Ollie Mae Richardson of Edmonton; 12 grandchildren, Kevin, Wendi, Lindsay, Tammi, Wesley, Courtney, Jeremy, Jonathan, Stevie, Jeanna, Ray, and Ben; 10 great grandchildren, Tyler, Kyle, Jordan, Grant, Adam, Levi, Tyler, Maddox, Sheree and Madelyn; two step great grandchildren, Michael and Samantha; and four step great-great grandchildren, Addison, Jordan, Emma, and Naomi.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Donnie Carol Gardner; an infant sister; two brothers, Albert Lawrence Richardson and Paul Silas Richardson; a sister-in-law, Doloies Richardson; and a brother-in-law, Lynn Glass.

Funeral services were held May 21 at the A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home in Glasgow with burial in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by D.A.V. Chapter 20 of Glasgow.

died Thursday, May 19, 2011 at the Metcalfe Health Care Center. Funeral services were held Saturday at the McMurtrey Funeral Home in Summer Shade with burial in the Summer Shade Cemetery.

Trixie C. McCandless LaneDANVILLE - Trixie C. McCandless Lane, age 88, of Danville,

Kentucky died Saturday May 21 at Charleston Health Care Center in Danville. She was born December 13, 1922 in Metcalfe County.

She is survived by two sons, Gary (Doris) of Danville, KY and Teddy (Carolyn) Lane of Glasgow. One daughter, Charlotte (Jimmy) Turner of Russell Springs, Ky. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Glen W. Lane. Two sons, Ronald Wilson Lane and Mark Brown Lane. Five brothers, James Buford McCandless, Stanley Ralph McCandless, Brown McCandless Jr., Bill Tom McCandless and Joe Ray McCandless. Two sisters, Mary Eugenia McCandless and Ruie Evelyn McCandless.

She lived in Metcalfe County until 1975 when she moved to Campbellsville, Ky. In 2005 she moved to Danville, Ky for the remainder of her life. She worked over 25 years at Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton. Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and after 9:00 AM Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lane Cemetery in Green County.
