BOHOL ISLAND STATE UNIVERSITY

Legal Basis

Republic Act No. 8659 (June 22, 1998) established the Central Visayas State College ofAgriculture, Forestry and Technology through the integration of the Bohol Agricultural College inBilar, the Bohol School of Arts and Trades in Tagbilaran, the Bohol School of Fisheries inCandijay, the Clarin School of Fisheries in Clarin, and the Calape National School of Fisheriesin Calape, all in the province of Bohol.

Republic Act No. 9722 (October 14, 2009) converted the Central Visayas State College ofAgriculture, Forestry and Technology, its units and satellite campuses in the City of Tagbilaranand in the Municipalities of Bilar, Candijay, Clarin, Calape and Balilihan, all located in the Provinceof Bohol to be known as the Bohol Island State University (BISU) and appropriating fundstherefor.

Mandate

The Bohol Island State University (BISU) is mandated to primarily provide advanced education,engineering, agriculture, fisheries, environment, arts and sciences, accountancy, cooperative,business and entrepreneurship , technology and other relevant fields of study in the undergraduateand graduate levels; and to undertake research and extension services, and provide progressiveleadership in its areas of specialization to meet the needs of the Province of Bohol and Region VII.

Legal Basis

Republic Act No. 5128 (1967) converted the Cebu Normal School, founded in 1902, into acollege and renamed as Cebu Normal College.

Presidential Decree No. 944 (1976) converted the Cebu Normal College into a chartered statecollege, the Cebu State College.

Republic Act No. 8688 (July 27, 1997) converted the Cebu State College into a state university,the Cebu Normal University.

Mandate

The Cebu Normal University (CNU) primarily provides higher professional and special instructionfor special purposes and promotes research and extension services, advanced studies, andprogressive leadership in education and other fields as may be relevant; offers undergraduate,graduate and short-term courses within its area of specialization and, according to its capabilities asthe Board of Regents may deem necessary, to carry out its objectives particularly in meeting theneeds of the province and the country. The CNU is likewise mandated to adopt public elementaryand secondary schools in the city and in the province of Cebu to serve as pilot centers for teaching-learning strategies and approaches.

Batas Pambansa Blg 412 (June 10, 1983) created the Cebu State College of Science andTechnology.

Republic Act No. 9744 – An act converting the Cebu State College of Science and TechnologySystem in the City of Cebu and all its satellite campuses located in the province of Cebu intoState University to be known as the Cebu Technological University (CTU) and appropriatingfunds therefor.

Legal Basis

Batas Pambansa Blg. 401 (April 15, 1983) established the Central Visayas Polytechnic College(CVPC).

Republic Act No. 9299 (June 10, 2004) converted the Central Visayas Polytechnic College(CVPC) into the Negros Oriental State University, integrating therewith the Genaro Goñi MemorialCollege in Bais City, the Siaton Community College, and the Mabinay Institute of Technology.

Legal Basis

Republic Act No. 2423 (July 1, 1960) converted the Larena Sub-Provincial High School,established in 1920 as a general high school, into the Larena National Vocational School (LNVS).

Batas Pambansa Blg. 387 (April 14, 1983) converted the Larena National Vocational School(LNVS) into the Larena National Vocational College (LNVC).

Republic Act No. 7947 (March 3, 1995) converted the Larena National Vocational College(LNVC) into a chartered state college, the Siquijor State College.

Mandate

The Siquijor State College (SSC) provides effective and excellent higher and technical-vocationaleducation through instruction, research, extension and production services. It serves as catalystand partner for local, regional and national growth and development.
