REACH-U Cooperation with Ericsson (1)
Global preferred 3PP partner with Ericsson – joint launch of first LBS (Emergency E112) already in 1999
Implementation of Spatial Triggers with MPS 7.0 in Q2 2006 Currently, highest amount of commercial LBS middleware references
globally with Ericsson Most successful Ericsson partner in terms of LBS usage from
commercial customers Cooperation with Ericsson also in HomeZone billing (Reach-U provides
Zone Provisioning Server part of the solution) ISO certification important
REACH-U Cooperation with Ericsson (2)
Ericsson, as a well established global company, provides: in depth knowledge of local markets
well known and accepted by the major telcos
• such customers would not normally come to a small company like Regio directly
1st and 2nd line support
• local frontline support is critical for providing telco grade services! local language
speed of response
relieving support burden on Regio
Currently 40% of total Regio revenues due to cooperation with Ericsson

Regio Support from EAS
Enterprise Estonia (EAS) has provided invaluable support in several areas:schooling, training
export activities• in 2002 this was 9% of Regio activity
• today it is 60% and growing
extensive R&D initiatives
Without EAS support, we would not be where we are today
THANK YOU to EAS
Regio participation in EU projects (1)
Regio is already a member of 4 FP6 IST projects
WISECOM• Wireless Infrastructure over Satellite for Emergency
Communications• Study, develop, and validate by live trials rapidly deployable
lightweight communication infrastructures for emergency conditions (e.g. natural disasters)
– “Base station in a suitcase”• integration of GSM, UMTS, WiFi with satellite backhaul• applying LBS technology for
– localization of victims – improving logistics of Search and Rescue operations (“fleet
management”)
MOTIVE• Mobile Terminal Value Added Functionality• Developing mobile terminals with enhanced functionality for
increased positioning accuracy and value added services
Regio participation in EU projects (2)
SECURE• Sensing and Crisis management Universal infrastructure• novel services for GMES end-users
– providing a universal flexible telecommunication infrastructure for sensor platforms interconnection and communications backhaul during crisis/emergency operations.
• Regio provides GIS (Geo-Informatic Systems) engine for SECURE risk management system
– combines GIS and GIS related data for visualizing in user-friendly environments
QVIZ• Query and Context Based Visualizations of time-spatial Cultural
Dynamics• Objective to increase the number of users and subscribers of
archival Cultural Heritage material• New tools and technologies to enable a more collaborative and
participatory use of CH material, including personal knowledge about archival objects by using social software tools
Regio and Space Projects So far, main focus for Location-Based Services (LBS) has been
on GSM networks and operators Regio vision includes being on the forefront of developing
applications and services around advanced positioning technologies, such as Galileo
Strong in-house expertise also in satellite communications area In-depth expertise in cartography and geoinformatic systems
has important synergies with requirements of remote sensing programmes
Regio is very interested in participating in ESA programmes, and will be able to make strong contributions in the areas of – navigation and location-based services and applications– satellite communications-based applications– remote sensing, mapping
Future Plans
continue to expand the network of world-wide customers together with Ericsson, but also through other avenues
further develop and refine the product portfolio
strengthen partnership and market presence in Europe by
participation in FP7 research projects• Galileo, GMES
participation in ESA projects
