REFRIGERATION ENGINEER JOB / ROLE DESCRIPTION A refrigeration engineer apprentice will learn how to install, repair and maintain refrigeration equipment and systems within a variety of commercial and industrial premises such as supermarkets or refrigeration warehouses. This is a very varied line of work, with no two days the same. The refrigeration engineer apprentice will travel around to client sites, being field-based, and learn a wide range of skills to keep customers’ equipment fully functional with minimum disruption to them. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS It is desirable to achieve this apprenticeship you will need English and Maths at level 2 or GCSE Grade C, and Information Communication Technology at Level 1 or GCSE Grade D. If you do not have these we can organise delivery prior to the apprenticeship commencing. WHAT WILL THE PROGRAMME ENTAIL?Apprentices will study towards the Level 2 and Level 3 Refrigeration Engineer qualification, which includes knowledge tests, practical assignments and production of a portfolio of evidence.

SUCCESSFUL COMPLETIONCongratulations on completing your apprenticeship. As a qualified Refrigeration Engineer you will be able to pursue your career in the Building Services industry.

WHAT IS AN APPRENTICESHIP?An apprenticeship is a real job with training, enabling you to earn whilst you learn. You will gain qualifications, which are recognised worldwide as well as a vast range of job-specific skills.

As an apprentice you will:

• work alongside experienced staff• gain skills specific to your job• earn a wage and receive holiday pay• study towards a qualification either at college or a training centre

for at least one day a week.

IS AN APPRENTICESHIP RIGHT FOR YOU?Apprenticeships in building services are for both women and men aged 16 or over.

To apply for an Apprenticeship you need to be:

• aged 16 and over• living in England, Scotland or Wales• not in full-time education - you can apply whilst you are still at school but you will need to

have left before starting your apprenticeship• you will need to have an employer before you start an apprenticeship. BESA Training will try

to help those of you who don’t have an employer placement.
