Order of Worship (cont.) Prayer of Adoration and Confession ..................................................... Ken Styles

Almighty God, we are unworthy to come into your presence, be-cause of our many sins. We do not deserve any grace or mercy from you, if you dealt with us as we deserve. We have sinned against you, O Lord, and we have offended you.

And yet, O Lord, as we acknowledge our sins and offenses, so also do we acknowledge you to be a merciful God, a loving and favorable Fa-ther, to all who turn to you. And so we humbly ask you, for the sake of Christ your son, to show mercy to us, and forgive us all our offenses. Forgive the sins of our youth, and the sins of our older age. By your Spir-it, O God, take possession of our hearts, so that, not only the actions of our life, but also the words of our mouths, and the smallest thought of our minds, may be guided and governed by you.

All this we pray through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit, be all honor and glory, now and forever. Amen.

Prayer of Thanksgiving and Intercession .......................................... Tom Ramsey Confession of Faith ............................................................... The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth;

and in Jesus Christ His only Son, our Lord, Who was conceived by the

Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was

crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He

rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right

hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge

the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion

of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and the life

everlasting. Amen. †

Preparation for Next Lord’s Day

SERMON SERIES: TIMELY COMFORTS IN TIMES OF CRISIS SERMON TITLE: “Firm with our Fortress” SERMON TEXT: Psalm 46 PREACHER: Pastor Fix MONDAY Psalm 46

How does this psalm offer comfort in times of uncertainty and crisis? TUESDAY 2 Timothy 1

Why do you think God has to regularly remind us not to fear? Why are we tempted to? Why shouldn’t we? Apply this.

WEDNESDAY Zechariah 2

What is it that gives us confidence and hope in the face of fear? Where and how is God present with his people today? Application?

THURSDAY Luke 10:1–24

How do we see Jesus understanding the danger and fears that face us in this life? How does he answer those?

FRIDAY Exodus 14

How does seeing God’s works (Ps 46:8–9) help fortify our confidence in God? What is the greatest work of God and how does that apply?

SATURDAY Joshua 1:1–9; Revelation 21:9–22:5

Why does Jesus’ weeping lead him to warn others? What does Jesus do to bring comfort, and what lesson is there in this for us?

(Note—over the coming weeks we’ll be considering some Scripture passages that speak specifically into our situation. A number of these will come from the Psalms, which are full of prayers and pleas for help in times of need as well as expression of deep emotions that arise in life’s difficulties. In prepara-tion for these sermons on the psalms, please consider watching this message from John Piper that is a rich meditation on how God cares about our emotions and how we feel about life and toward him. This post at Ligonier.org is also full of good reminders for our moment from Calvin.)
