Reflexive Verbs–Command Forms

• Command forms for reflexive verbs are constructed the same way that we have learned before except that the reflexive pronoun is part of the sentence.

Reflexive Verbs–Command Forms

• Familiar Form• To form the command form, eliminate the

“en” from the infinitive and add an exclamation point. Remember the reflexive pronoun is part of the sentence.

• Beispiele:• Sich setzen -- Setz dich!• Sich beeilen – Beeil dich!

• Formal Command• The singular and the plural commands are

formed by inverting the subject and verb and adding an exclamation point. Remember the reflexive pronoun is part of the sentence.

• Beispiele:• Sich kaemmen – Kaemmen Sie

sich!(sing./formal)• Sich vorbereiten – Bereiten sie sich vor!

(plural/informal)

• The Wir-Command (Let’s)• The wir-command form is used when asking for

some action in the sense of Let’s (do something). It is formed by inverting the subject and verb and adding an exclamation point. Remember the reflexive pronoun is part of the sentence.
