Georgina, a highly successful team leader, she is a thirty-four-year-old. She would like to take the next step in her career, but is afraid to approach the subject with colleagues because she fears they will think of her negatively and probably ridicule her for her lack of experience. Georgina feels in a real bind because she dreads the thought of not fulfilling her potential. She says, "Nothing could be more awful!" except perhaps being ridiculed "because of my stupid behavior” thinking that she could actually progress. Also, she feels self-conscious because she sees herself as not having the right outward image. She believes that work places are unfair to expect so much; therefore, she often feels angry toward them Georgina attributes her reticence in coming forward to the fact that kids poked fun at her in school and called her ”bossy" and then excluded her, she says. "Once an outcast , always an outcast”. Georgina is considering attending a fitness boot camp and image consultant so that “I’ll” look the part” Georgina is also considering resigning from her job because she has daily contact with colleagues and she is sure "they’re talking behind my back about me and my ineptness.” She says that seeing her colleagues makes her feel worse because they remind her of what she hasn’t yet achieved. Georgina wants help in deciding how to solve her ”career" problem.

Sparkling Moment Part 1 - In pairs, decide who is A and B A to ask B: Think of a personal ‘Sparkling moment’ at work since we last met – a time when you felt very good about being there. Listen carefully to and note what your partner says – you’ll need that in a moment. Get as much detail as possible! Observable, positive, concrete details. Prompts for you How come? What was it about those moments that made them sparkle for you? What are you most pleased to remember about yourself at that moment? What might others have made of you at that moment had they noticed? Who would notice the changes? What would they see? Who else? What else? What else?

Part 2 - Giving Affirms Based on what your partner has just said... Reflect on what you now know about their excellent qualities, skills and resources as a person – think for a moment. Then tell them and wait for them to say ‘Thank You’
