DPSN……… the Place to Be!

Dear Parents,

Greetings of the season!

It is that time of the year when we sit back and reflect on our actions which could be improved,

improvised and bettered. There is always scope for improvement in all we do so with the an

eye for improvement we make new year resolutions but those resolutions take a back seat after

a few days. Let us make some practical, doable and achievable resolutions which bear fruits

of value addition for all stakeholders. I would like to make learning more practical, hands on,

collaborative and experiential project based. The purpose is to bring about a change subtly but

steadily and make the learners experiential learners instead of training them rote memorization.

Change is the only permanent thing and we need to go on and blend with the world where

humongous transition is on way to bring about a practical, vocational and concept learning on

the students platter. If we do not move with the change time will crush us. The need of

education is not to churn out literate individuals but individuals who can face the world in

adversity and come out victorious as they would have been trained to face failures and manage

success. A skill or hobby must be acquired by every student in the area of his/her interest and

encouraged to pursue it. The student must be encouraged to hold responsibility for his actions

and decisions. There is a paradigm shift in the way we practice education which should be a

learning process of acquiring values, discipline, skills and their own experiences. Learning by

self experiences is the biggest teacher. So let us allow our students to ponder, think, meditate,

initiate and question. Our endeavor must be to provide them a 360 degree learning environment

of self expression and evaluation. Every child must be encouraged to read, invest in books this

will take them a long way.

Wishing you all Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year.

Kalamkari Art

Kalamkari is an ancient style of hand painting done on cotton or silk fabric with a

tamarind pen, using natural dyes. The word Kalamkari is derived from a Persian word

where ‘kalam’ means pen and ‘kari’ refers to craftsmanship. Motifs drawn in Kalamkari

spans from flowers, peacock and paisleys to divine characters of Hindu epics like

Mahabharata and Ramayana. Nowadays, this art is primarily done to create Kalamkari

sarees. Students of the Heritage Club performed the Kalamkari art on cotton cloth.

Kalamkari, being an old age technique, gave the students an opportunity to relive their

cultural heritage

Wonders of Science

Science is the study of the way things work. People since ancient civilizations were

curious to know more about the workings of the planet and the human body.

They observed the various phenomena carefully and this led to the birth of science.

With modern technology, we have been able to know more about our planet and even the

world above us. Science have changed our lives.

Science has helped us invent many useful things. All electric and electronic machines

like fans, lights, desert coolers, air conditioners, television. Mixers, refrigerators, room

heaters and geysers are the inventions of science.

Science has helped us invent many medicines and drugs that have helped cure many

diseases and put an end to many.

The trains , cars, buses, trucks, aeroplanes, ships and spaceships help us travel on

earth and in space. They are all the wonders of science.

Science has also helped us to make bombs and weapons of mass destruction.

We use them during welfare. Wars kill people and destroy things. Weapons are the bane

of science. We should not use science for making wars. We should use science for good

purposes only.
