REFLECTIONAs we all know, stage performance is also reflect the meaning of plays and drama itself. Stage performance is not only just performing the drama on the stage, it also includes on the selection of the story and the adaptation of the script. These aspects are the main element in conducting and performing a drama. For PISMP semester 5 students, one of the task that needed to complete for LGA 3104 Plays and Drama for Young Learner coursework was performing a drama. Performing a drama was not something that as easy as its sound actually. Many things or aspects that needed to consider on. As mentioned, in a group of twelve we needed to perform a drama. Right after we received the task, the first thing that we did was producing an organization for the drama crew. Before something big as drama to be done, producing an organization was an important things to do because it helped us to control our group development and also for work division among group member. For this drama crew, we decided to choose several pillar position in our drama production. We had decided Fazliana as our director and numerous other crew members such as scriptwriter, prop master, costume master, make-up artist, music director and also stage director. So, it was all up to director to manage the drama. According to Mary Jane (2002), teamwork in organizational settings is an important aspect of creating a well-oiled machine to get tasks and projects done. It is clearly seen that well organized production thus affects the outcome. From this, it also can be reflect on the teacher to be for the importance of an organization in a school soon.Since each of the group members had their role in the drama production, it was a time to do a discussion in regarding of selection of the story for the drama staging. Throughout our discussion among the group member, we had selected a story entitled Aladdin and the magic lamp for our drama staging. This story was actually been taken from one of our members story selection that she had done in her previous task. Then, we analyzed the story and together we needed to produce a script. It was up to scriptwriter in editing the script to suit with the character involved from the story. Each of our members had role for the character in this drama staging. As a crew, we did a splendid job in order to produce such a wonderful drama to watch. For the prop master, they did their job greatly in producing the prop and same goes to other crew members. From doing this, it can inculcate cooperation among others. Despite of that, it can also arouse responsibility in each of the group members in doing their parts. All through of this stage performance, there were some strength and weakness that we had identified. Regarding towards audience feedback, our strength was on our prop preparation. It was a credit to our prop master crew for doing such a great job. Many audience impressed on the detailed of props that we put on during our drama staging. For example, we put many household for the each scene. According to Jessica Thompson (2009), a prop needs an extensive research and creative designing to serve its purpose and to look convincing. A stage can also be used as a very convincing and effective prop to convey a message or to represent or recreate something, if designed and decorated properly. Even our drama staging was successfully done, there are some weakness that been spotted during the drama performance. After we done a group reflection soon after we finished our drama staging, we concluded that our music arrangement and sound was not been appropriately played. Music insertion had done their large role in order to make the drama livelier. Since, we failed the on that particular part, it made our drama performance a little bit chaotic due to unsynchronized music arrangements and that also effect on the momentum of delivering the x factor to the audience.Throughout this task focally on drama performance, personally I felt some growth in myself particularly. It came from the inside which was confidence level and also my self-esteem. As my character in this drama was Sultan. So I needed to act as a rich and arrogant man which I might have some difficulties in doing so. From the support from my group members, I truly satisfied with my achievement in carrying that role. Confidence was an essential part in order to progress to be an excellent teacher soon. Teacher was a focal point of the class. So as a teacher, we used to be confidence in speaking in front. With this stage performing, it was really helpful in maintaining my nervous level and also building my confidence level. By doing the drama performance, it indirectly involved towards my profession growth. A part from being confidence, this drama staging had helped me in increasing my voice projection. The good voice projection was really important for teacher especially in controlling the classroom. Furthermore, this drama performance task had taught me in mastery my knowledge in dealing the Language Arts class in school. As I will be attending a practicum soon, so this kind of knowledge might be helpful for me during conducting the class soon since one of the elements in Language Arts was plays and drama. The adapted the script, the stage position techniques, gesture and facial expression. Those things were useful knowledge to be gained throughout this task. As a conclusion, this coursework had given me a lot of experiences and useful knowledge. It also helped me in improving my set of thinking into more positively ways. Personally, I must say that I should be thankful to those who give their full cooperation and commitment especially my crew members. Thank to my lecturer Miss Nagamah for guiding us in completing this task. I do gained lots of new and useful knowledge in learning this subject and performing the task.
