The h-index (short for highly cited index) was developed in 2005 by Professor Hirsch, a condensed-matter physicist at the University of California in San Diego, to qualify the impact and quantity of an individual’s research performance.

Professor Hirsch states in the introduction to his paper that most researchers seek to gain a better understanding of the impact of their work, “For the few scientists who earn a Nobel Prize, the impact and relevance of their research is unquestionable. How does one quantify

the cumulative impact and relevance of an individual’s scientific research output?”

The Scopus Affiliation Identifier is the world’s first online tool to automatically identify and match an organization with all of its research output. It turns an
