Arthroscopy of the Shoulder Diagnosis and Therapy

Translated from the German by Marie-Louise Antoft and Brigitte Marschall

1992. 125 figs. Approx. 200 pages Cloth DM 198,-, 6S 1386,-ISBN 3-211-82339-5

This book focuses on arthroscopy of the shoulder joint and the subacromial space. Diagnosis as well as the current therapeutic possibilities are described in explicit detail. The book begins with describing the anatomy of the shoulder joint from an arthroscopic viewpoint. The diagnostic part gives a description of the individual structures in the glenohumeral joint as well as the subacromial space with regard to their pathologic changes and special attention is focused on differentiating between healthy and pathologic structures. The therapeutic part gives a detailed description of the Bankart refixation methods successfully applied by the authors which include a suturing technique, a refixation technique using absorbable tacks and an extraarticular screw fixation technique; furthermore the techniques of subacromial decompression, removal of a calcium deposits and the resection of the lateral end of the clavicle are described in detail. Starting with the indication for arthroscopy and/or arthroscopic therapy, the book then conveys information on positioning, draping, necessary instruments and then goes on the technical realization of the arthroscopic intervention itself, thus it gives all necessary details which are required for arthroscopy of the shoulder.

Bone and Soft Tissue Tumors Co-authors of the Soft Tissue Section: Franco Bertoni and Patrizia Bacchini

Foreword: W. F. Enneking Translator: Sylvia Notini Translation from the Italien edition

This book systematically treats the tumors of bones and soft tissues. An expert in the fields of pathology and orthopedic surgery, Professor Campanacci describes these tumors in terms of the pathological, clinical, radiographic, and therapeutic points of view. The introductory chapter deals with the classification, frequency, diagnostic tools, biopsies, and therapeutic strategies for these tumors. Following the histological classification, the author describes the primary, secondary, and metastatic tumors, and pseudo tumoral lesions in detail. Bone and Soft Tissue Tumors stems from both Professor Campanacci's 30 years of experience and from the clinical records of 15.000 studied and verified cases of the Instituto Ortopedico Rizzoli, the largest orthopedic clinic in Italy. The book contains illustrations of all varieties of tumors, with special emphasis on those cases which exemplify the typical tumors encountered in daily clinical practice. For the English edition the book has been completely revised and updated. The bibliography has been trimmed down to include only the most significant and recent publications. The addition of uniform subtitles makes this edition more concise and comprehensible.
