Re: Tony Joseph

Tony Joseph joined pfp publishing ltd early in 2003 as a bookkeeper/accountant working closely with the managing director. His responsibilities rapidly grew over a period of great change which included the departure of the managing director and the ultimate sale of the company. Whilst working with the managing director I am aware, as one of the three then shareholder/directors, that Tony very quickly understood the company’s financial processes and implemented improvements to the systems in operation, assimilating information and cooperating with the finance director based in Preston. After the managing director left in September 2003, Tony was central to the closer involvement of the shareholder/directors providing them with much of the financial information they needed rapidly to come to terms with. He was also extremely helpful at all times and provided information and feedback willingly and swiftly, providing the shareholder/directors with a greater insight into the company’s finances than they had previously enjoyed. Tony was in the process of further streamlining the financial management of pfp publishing when the sale of the company became a probability and during the latter period of negotiating, Tony was instrumental in ensuring that the directors had available to them the up-to-date information essential for the sale to go through. He also worked very well with the auditors and was not afraid of addressing issues with, for example, the sub-contracted invoicing service providers in trying to get to the bottom of some of the more difficult aspects of the business. Had pfp publishing not been sold, I am confident that Tony would have continued to support and advise and indeed to grow even more within the scope of the role which he fulfilled.On a personal note, I found Tony a pleasure to work with. He was always more than willing to find the answer to any question and to ensure that essential duties were carried out thoroughly and swiftly. He was always pleasant, happy, approachable and hard-working. I believe that any future employer will find him a valuable asset to their organisation.
