Dear Parents/Guardians
It was a delight to see many parents/guardians turning up for the Parent-Teacher Meeting
(PTM) for P1 and P2 on 25 Jan 2019. It was a good opportunity for us to know you and allow
us to share with you about matters pertaining to teaching and learning, and key programmes
that your child/ward is involved in.
For P3 to P6, the PTM will be held on Saturday, 23 Feb 2019 from 9am to 11am. We look
forward to partner you in the holistic development of your child/ward.
Parents Gateway
Parents Gateway is the digital service that connects parents and schools on key administrative
matters which was officially launched by Minister for Education, Mr Ong Ye Kung, on 2 Jan
2019.
We are pleased to inform you that our school is now onboard Parents Gateway, a new MOE
initiative. This is a mobile app specially designed for parents. Developed by MOE and GovTech,
the app allows parents to engage with schools, receive information and perform a range of
administrative functions such as giving consent for school trips. Through the Parents Gateway,
parents and legal guardians (not caregivers) will be able to receive information and perform
administrative functions for their children, even if the children are in different classes, or from
different schools.
We would like to invite you to download the Parents Gateway mobile app on your mobile phone
(available on iOS and Android platforms only) and perform a simple one-time onboarding
process. Please refer to Annex A for a step-by-step guide.
From March 2019, parents who are onboard Parents Gateway will receive information via the
mobile app. The school will continue to issue hardcopy letters to parents who are unable to
come onboard Parents Gateway.
On behalf of all school staff, we wish you and your family a Happy Lunar New Year.
Mdm Cassie Fan

A. KEY ANNOUNCEMENTS
1. School Smart Card Photo-Taking (For P1 AND P6 Only)
The Ministry of Education (MOE) will be conducting the yearly photo-taking exercise for
all students in P1 and P6 for the issue of the School Smart Card (SSC). The vendor
engaged by MOE, Transit Link Pte Ltd, will be conducting the exercise for our students
on Thursday, 14 February 2019. Students must be in school uniform for the photo-shoot.
P1 students will get their SSCs by end March 2019. The photo-images captured for P6
students will be used for the printing of Secondary SSCs when they are promoted to
Secondary One in 2020.
B. KEY PROGRAMMES
1. Total Defence Day
Total Defence Day falls every year on 15 February. The theme for 2019 is “Together We
Keep Singapore Strong”. Commemorative activities will be held from 14 to 20 February
2019 to educate our students on the five pillars of Total Defence. Working with the
Singapore Civil Defence Force and Singapore Police Force, we hope our students will
learn how they can contribute to building a strong, safe and cohesive nation.
C. SUPPORT FOR PARENTS 1. Workshops for P5 and P6 Parents
The workshops serve as key platforms for parents/guardians to understand the requirements of the curriculum, get to know the teachers and fellow parents/guardians, leveraging on the collective strength of all stakeholders to enhance a child’s learning. Please note that parents/guardians will not be able to meet teachers individually to discuss their child/ward’s progress due to time constraint. There will be another opportunity later in the year for parents/guardians to meet teachers to discuss your child/ward’s performance. To facilitate the logistics arrangements for the session, please complete the Reply Slip which has been issued to your child/ward, or register via MC Online https://www.mconline.sg/LEAD/login/lms_login.aspx.
