ABOUT THE AREA
The Downs is a huge area of protected
downland, with spectacular views across the
Avon Gorge to the Clifton Suspension Bridge,
on the edge of the city. It is within easy
walking distance of some of Bristol’s major
attractions and is the perfect spot for all types
of leisure activity.
Bristol is a thriving, attractive, university city
with historic links dating back to Anglo-Saxon
times. The city itself is rich in historical
buildings, notably the magnificient cathedral,
the Lord Mayors Chapel, Queen Square and
the streets and alleys of the old town.
Perched above the city and not far from
Redwood is Clifton, a ‘village’ which boasts
wonderful architecture - row upon row
of honey coloured terraces - open spaces,
an eclectic mix of specialist independent
shops and restaurants and Bristol Zoo.
There is so much on offer in Bristol . The city
centre is home to numerous museums, art
galleries, festivals and markets as well as the
usual multiple retailers, where as the floating
harbour, a major port in previous centuries,
is now buzzing, having seen intensive
regeneration over the last few years. Brunel’s
great ocean liner the S.S. Great Britain, built
in 1843, is berthed within the harbour.
There is an excellent choice of primary and
secondary state schools and well known
independent schools both in Bristol and in
the local vicinity.
LEISURE
Sports enthusiasts are spoilt for choice.
Bristol is the home of Gloucestershire Cricket,
hosts Bristol Rugby and has two professional
Football League clubs. There is also an
abundance of golf clubs nearby and numerous
amateur sports clubs where the local teams
are always looking for new talent.
If you are interested in the arts, there is a rich
variety of artistic and creative talent with
an ever-changing programme of exhibitions.
The city is also the home of the Bristol Old
Vic, the oldest theatre in England.
Further afield it is worth exploring Bath,
a world heritage site, and the beautiful
surrounding countryside of the Cotswolds and
South Wales - all within easy reach.
TRANSPORT
Bristol is ideally situated for travelling to
London, the West Country and the North as
it is only about eight miles to drive to the M4
and about 6 miles to the M5.
There are regular intercity train services to
all parts of the country from Bristol Temple
Meads Station which is only a 20 minute
drive from Redwood. Alternatively there is a
train from Sea Mills (5 minutes away) which
will take you to Bristol Temple Meads.

less - less in terms of energy usage, water use
and carbon footprint, but more in warmth -
and the knowledge that your home has been
built with sustainability in mind.
With energy bills rising, we use the very
latest environmentally-friendly technology
to ensure your home uses the least amount
of energy, staying warm and welcoming for
less. We work with a sustainable buildings
consultant who helps us source the most
eco-friendly materials.
And it’s not just the buildings which are
eco-friendly, we commission ecology experts
to help us develop our landscaping schemes
to encourage local wildlife, putting up bird
and bat boxes where we can, and planting
indigenous trees.
All our new homes at Redwood use materials
and technology which exceed all building
regulation targets for water use and carbon
emissions and are all equipped with:
Gas central heating
All lofts are fitted with 400mm loft
insulation
