Q2: A-401M sets the scope of modernization where cubby cabinets will be added. There is no

elevation that I can find. I assume open upper cabinets with coat hooks below the bottom

as seen in some of the pictures. Is this correct.?

Q3: Detail 4/S1.2 - Please Clarify which scope is responsible for the 18" of Non-Expansive

A3: The General Trades contractor is responsible for the 18” non-expansive material.

Please confirm which trade contractor or bid package is responsible for this scope of work.

A1: The General Trades contractor is responsible for exterior steel pipe downspouts per their

scope statement.

Q2: Please confirm that the underground site gas scope of work is to be the responsibility of

Underground Utilities Bid Package B.

A2: Confirmed. Underground utilities does all site utilities to 5’ of new buildings and connects

at POC for meterset.

Landscaping Trades Bid Package Scope Statement “F” RFI’s

Scapes Landscape - RFI – E-mail Dated 03/10/2020:

Q1: L3.1 NEW POC is shown.

I understand the backflow and MV and FS to be the landscaper’s responsibility, but would

you please clarify which trade is responsible for the 1” water meter for irrigation?

I don’t see it spelled out in any trade scope of work. Normally done at the same time as

other underground utilities.

A1: The Landscaping Trades Contractor is responsible for installation of irrigation water meters

and backflow devices. This verbiage has been added to the Landscaping Trades contractors

Scope statement in Addendum 3.

Q2: L3.1 and C7.3 Line Bio retention area NE corner of Administration Bldg. shows a bio

retention area. All other bio retention areas are irrigated with precision nozzles or shrub

bubblers. Is the intention to irrigate this area with drip irrigation at similar spacing as non

bio retention areas? This is not the norm as bio retention areas usually have different

irrigation needs due to the different soil profile.

A2: See updated sheet L3.1 included in Addendum #3 that adds irrigation to retention area in

question.

Site Concrete Trades Bid Package Scope Statement “C” RFI’s

DRYCO - RFI – E-mail Dated 03/10/2020:

Q1: In Addendum #1 a new L1.1 sheet was issued but it still does not show any control joints

noted by a grey line. Please confirm this is the case and there are no control joints besides

between paving and walls and paving material changes. Typical CJ spacing is around 20’

o/c.

A1: Controls joints for concrete sidewalks shall be maximum 20’ on center per landscape layout

notes on sheet L0.1 and project specifications for concrete sidewalks.

Q2: In addendum #1 we requested confirmation of the site concrete scope duties, in regard to

the stairs and amphitheater. The response given is still not clear due to the conjunction of

the amphitheater and building concrete. Since the walls of the amphitheater tie into the

building, the most cost-effective option may be to have the general construction contract

covers the walls themselves and then site concrete contractor infills the stairs and slab on

top of the building.

Who is responsible for the excavation of these wall footings?

A2: Refer to Question 6 from BMI and see responses when they come out.

Q3: In addition to the amphitheater area, there is only one other set of exterior stairs. Is the

site concrete contractor only responsible for the infill of the stair pans since they are metal

framed stairs?

A3: Yes, The concrete trades contractor is responsible for the infill of the stair pans and the

general trades contractor will provide decking and other components.

MASTER CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE

Time limits stated in this Contract are of the essence. By executing the Contract, the Contractor acknowledges and agrees that the scheduled duration of Contractor’s work as set forth on the Construction Schedule enclosed herein is a reasonable period of time for achieving completion of Contractor’s Work. The Construction Manager shall manage, revise, update and control the Construction Schedule throughout the course of the Project. The Construction Manager shall have the right, in its sole discretion, to apportion time between Contractor and all other contractors and subcontractors to complete their work in coordination with each other and in compliance with the Construction Schedule. See General Conditions for additional construction schedule requirements.

Delineation of work required will be in accordance with the Scope Statement and Construction Schedule incorporated herein.

Liquidated Damages: The State of California Government Code, Section 53069.85 provides that Public Work projects may establish time limits within which the whole or any specified portion of the work contemplated shall be completed, and that for each day the schedule is delayed beyond the specified time, the delaying Contractor shall pay to such agency involved a specified sum of money to be deducted from any payment due or to become due to the Contractor.

MM 1) Migratory Bird Treaty Act Tree removal and construction activities shall be scheduled to commence prior to the beginning of nesting activity (March 1) or after fledging (August 15). If this is infeasible, the District shall retain a biologist to conduct pre-construction surveys between March 1 and August 15 in potential nesting habitat to identify nest sites. Surveys should be conducted within one week of tree removal and the start of construction to identify active nests prior to the initiation of construction activities. If an active raptor nest is observed within 350 feet of the Project Site, the District shall contact California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) for guidance and/or establish a 350-foot buffer around the nest tree. If a passerine bird nest is observed within 100 feet of the Project Site, the District shall contact CDFW for guidance and/or establish a 100-foot buffer around the nest tree. If construction activities cannot be prohibited within the established buffers until young have fledged, District consultation with CDFW shall be conducted for a reduced buffer zone based on nesting phenology, site conditions, and recommendation(s) of a biological monitor. The District shall prohibit construction activities in the buffer zone until the young have fledged.

MM 5) Paleontological Construction Contracts and Permits LanguageDue to the possibility that significant buried paleontological resources may be found during construction activities, the Redwood City School District will ensure that the following language is included in all construction contracts and permits:“If paleontological resources are encountered during subsurface construction activities, all work within 50 feet of the discovery will be redirected until a qualified paleontologist can evaluate the finds and make recommendations. If the paleontological resources are found to be significant, they will be avoided by project construction activities and recovered by a qualified paleontologist. Upon completion of the recovery, a paleontological assessment will be conducted by a qualified paleontologist to determine if further monitoring for paleontological resources is required. The assessment will include:I) The results of any geotechnical investigation prepared for the project site;2) Specific details of construction plans for the project site;3) Background research; and4) Limited subsurface investigation within the project site.If a high potential to encounter paleontological resources is confirmed, a monitoring plan of further project subsurface construction will be prepared in conjunction with this assessment. After project subsurface construction has ended, a report documenting monitoring, methods, findings, and further recommendations regarding paleontological resources will be prepared.”

Cultural Resources

MM 6) Policies and Procedures for Inadvertently Discovered Human Remains Because site disturbance may adversely impact undocumented human remains or unintentionally discover significant historic or archaeological materials, the following policies and procedures for treatment and disposition of inadvertently discovered human remains or archaeological materials will apply. If human remains are discovered, it is probable they are the remains of Native Americans.

a) If human remains are encountered, these remains would be treated in accordance with Section 7050.5 of the California Health and Safety Code and Section 5097.98 of the Public Resources Code, as appropriate. With these regulations in place, no impact on human remains is anticipated.

b) In the event that known or suspected Native American remains are encountered, or significant historic or archaeological materials are discovered, ground-disturbing activities will be immediately stopped. Examples of significant historic or archaeological materials include, but are not limited to, concentrations of historic artifacts (e.g., bottles, ceramics) or prehistoric artifacts (chipped chert or obsidian, arrow points, ground stone mortars and pestles), culturally altered ash-stained midden soils associated with pre-contact Native American habitation sites, concentrations of fire-altered rock and/or burned or charred organic materials, and historic structure remains such as stone-lined building foundations, wells or privy pits. Ground-disturbing project activities may continue in other areas that are outside the discovery locale.

c) An “exclusion zone” where unauthorized equipment and personnel are not permitted will be established (e.g., taped off) around the discovery area plus a reasonablebuffer zone by the Contractor Foreman or authorized representative, or party who made the discovery and initiated these protocols, or if on-site at the time or discovery, by the Monitoring Archaeologist (typically 25-50ft for single burial or archaeological find).

d) The discovery locale will be secured (e.g., 24-hour surveillance) as directed by the School District if considered prudent to avoid further disturbances.

e) The Contractor, Foreman, authorized representative, or party who made the discovery and initiated these protocols will be responsible for immediately contacting by telephone the parties listed below to report the find and initiate the consultation process for treatment and disposition:

the discovery. If the remains are Native American, the Coroner has 24 hours to notify the NAHC.

g) After notification by the NAHC, the MLD will be granted permission to inspect the discovery site if they so choose.

h) After notification by the NAHC, the MLD may recommend to the Administrator of District Support Services the recommended means for treating or disposing, with appropriate dignity, the human remains and any associated grave goods. The MLD has 48 hours after accessing the Site to make recommendations to the property owner as specified in Public Resources Code section 5097.98 (a). The recommendation may include the scientific removal and nondestructive or destructive analysis of human remains and items associated with Native American burials.

i) If the MLD recommendation is rejected by the School District the parties will attempt to mediate the disagreement with the NAHC. If mediation fails, then the remains and all associated grave offerings will be reburied with appropriate dignity on the property in a location not subject to further subsurface disturbance.

Geology and Soils

MM 7) Seismic Design CriteriaDue to the significant potential for strong ground motion at the Project Site, the District shall implement section 10.2 of the Geotechnical report performed by Ninyo & Moore Geotechnical & Environmental Sciences Consultants. The RCSD shall incorporate the geotechnical recommendation for design and construction of the proposed project. This includes earthwork recommendations, seismic design criteria, foundation recommendations, retaining wall, exterior flatwork, concrete, moisture vapor retarder, and surface drainage and site maintenance; see Geotechnical Evaluation and Geologic HazardAssessment at Appendix G.

MM 10) SMP: Site-Specific Health and Safety Worker RequirementsDistrict appointed contractors shall be responsible for the health and safety of their own employees and are required to have their own Health and Safety Plan (HSP) and Injury and Illness Prevention Plans (IIPPs) to comply with OSHA. The HSP shall be implemented at the Site. Contractors may utilize the HSP provided in the SMP, Appendix D, as a template to create their company-specific HSP. The HSPs shall provide general health and safety guidance such that field activities can be conducted in a safe manner. Per Cal/OSHA requirements (California Code of Regulations, Title 8), each contractor working at the Site shall prepare a health and safety plan that addresses the safety and health hazards during each phase of Site operations that includes the requirements and procedures for employee protection. The HSPs will provide standard operating procedures for personnel involved in activities that may expose them to chemical and physical hazards associated with the removal of impacted soil at the Site. The plan must be kepton-Site during soil removal and loading activities. MM 12) SMP: Site ControlSite control is intended to control the potential spread of contamination from the Site. The affected area shall be separated from the public by a temporary fencing, to be installed by the remediation contractor. Prior to field activities, the Site will be divided into three zones: exclusion zone, decontamination zone, and support zone. Within the exclusion zone are individual work zones where contaminated material is being excavated, stockpiled, or loaded. Ingress to and egress from the Site will be controlled via locking gates. The excavated soil will be stockpiled at the closest available area on plastic sheeting; see SMP at Appendix J.

MM 13) SMP: Excavation of impacted soilThe District appointed contractor shall be responsible for assisting the District with excavation/relocation procedures, stockpiling of soil, truck loading procedures, and transportation procedures. Soil excavation activities will remove approximately 115 cubic yards of pesticide and metal containing soil and transportation of the material to off-Site disposal facilities. For arsenic and pesticide removal areas, the initial excavations are estimated to be 1 to 1½ feet deep and include portion of one side of existing structures, two areas in the garden/outdoor classroom and one area on the southwestern portion of the Site. The depths of the excavations are estimated, and contamination may be present in deeper soils in limited areas. These areas will be determined after the initially planned excavations and confirmation sampling. The estimated yardage includes a contingency that additional soil (up to 30%) may need to be excavated should some confirmation samples have contaminants that exceed the Site remediation goal concentrations. Site grading and the construction of the new school buildings shall not take place until after the remedial activities; see SMP at Appendix J.

MM 14) SMP: Dust and Erosion ControlSite control procedures shall be established to control the potential generation of dust andexposure to worker and Site neighbors. These controls include a variety of dust control methods and practices designed to minimize the generation and spread of dust. A water truck or other source of water shall be used to deliver water to the Site for dust control

purposes. Experience at similar sites in the area has shown that if good dust control is maintained, dust emissions can be kept below action levels. Air monitoring shall be conducted by a Hazmat Consultant to control dust emissions during Site remedial activities. The dust control measures are outlined in the SMP and shall be followed at all times during remedial activities; see SMP at Appendix J.


MM 15) SMP: Air MonitoringAir monitoring will be performed by a Hazmat Consultant along the perimeter of the Site to evaluate the effectiveness of the dust control measures. Details of the air monitoring trigger and action levels are summarized in the SMP. If the Trigger Level of “visible dust” is reached, dust control measures must be increased visible dust is not present. Work shall stop if the action levels of 0.05 mg/m3 is reached, exceeded, or the Site cannot be reliably controlled. If the Action Levels are exceeded, the District project manager shall be notified immediately; see SMP at Appendix J.

MM 16) SMP: DecontaminationAs stated in the SMP, decontamination procedures shall be followed before equipment or personnel exit the exclusion zone as part of general protocols for preventing or reducing the physical transfer of impacted materials from the affected areas. The District appointed contractor shall be responsible for assisting the District with equipment decontamination, track-out controls, and worker decontamination protection; see SMP at Appendix J.




MM 17) SMP: Field DocumentationA McCloskey Consultant, Inc. (MCI) field engineer shall be present on-Site on an as-needed basis during the chemically-affected soil excavation, perimeter dust monitoring, and dust handling activities. This individual shall monitor the soil excavation work, collect confirmation soil samples, perimeter air monitoring and collect stockpile soil samples. As part of this process, a field log shall be utilized to document Site activities. A scaled Site map shall be implemented to document removal areas and confirm sampling locations. Site activities shall be photographed periodically by MCI to document implementation of the removal activities. The photographs shall be made available for inspection by District authorized personnel for the duration of the project and shall be included in the Removal Action Completion Report; see SMP at Appendix J.






MM 18) SMP: Confirmation Soil SamplingIn accordance with the SMP, confirmation soil samples shall be collected from the bottom and sidewalls of the excavation areas to document adequate removal of COC contaminated soils; see SMP at Appendix J.

SCOPE STATEMENTS

The attached Scope Statements describe the intent and outline of work to be completed as a part of this bid. In the event that this scope statement contains sequences, scope, work functions, materials or equipment not generally related to the technical specifications associated with the work of this bid, the Scope Statement shall govern in the assignment of work and/or the responsibility of furnishing and/or installing materials or services in addition to the materials and services named in the plans and specifications. The Scope Statement is provided as a guide and describes the minimum scope of construction activities and/or service to be provided and/or material and equipment to be furnished/installed and unless explicitly directed otherwise within the Scope Statement, this bid shall require the furnishing and installation of all materials or equipment identified within the Scope Statement. This work will be conducted by multiple prime contractors. The owner reserves the right to perform work related to the Project with the Owner’s own forces, and to award separate contracts in connection with other portions of the Project or other construction or operations on the Site under Conditions of the Contract identical or substantially similar to these including those portions related to insurance and waiver of subrogation. The bidder shall have thoroughly examined all bid documents relative to the execution of the bid as submitted and is expected to have visited the site of the work to determine all conditions effecting the execution of the work of this bid. The bidder shall have obtained first-hand knowledge of the site relative to the receiving, transportation, handling and storage of material or equipment and all other concerns related to the requirements of the bidding documents. It being further understood that no additional compensation will be allowed for the failure of the bidder to have availed himself/herself of this information or the procedures as outlined herewith. Site visitation will be as conducted during the pre-bid conference. Additional visits may be arranged if cleared and coordinated through the project manager. DESCRIPTION: Project will be phased per the construction schedule included herein. Furnish all labor, materials, equipment and services required for the above listed specification sections covering related work as per project plans and specifications and as described below:

S C O P E O F W O R K

SECTION A - GENERAL ITEMS; SPECIAL ATTENTION SHOULD BE GIVEN TO THE FOLLOWING:

1. Overhead, bonds and insurance: Contractor shall include all costs for home office overhead, field overhead, performance and payment bonds and insurance as required in the contract documents.

2. Security: Contractor will be responsible for compliance with Department of Justice requirements for school construction. All on site employees will be required to wear a construction badge or be escorted or accompanied by a badged contractor or school district representative through non construction areas.

3. The Construction Manager shall provide a debris box for general cleanup. Contractors will be required to clean up daily and load their trash in the debris box. Job clean-up will be at the direction of the Construction Manager. Note: If demolition is called for in Contractor’s scope of work, Contractor is responsible for providing his own debris box and removing all demolition debris from the site in a timely manner, but in no case longer than seven (7) days from the date of demolition. The Construction Manager’s debris box shall not be used for depositing selective demolition debris.

4. The Construction Manager shall provide portable toilets and hand wash stations. 5. Earthwork and Paving Trades Contractor shall be responsible for their own scaffolding,

lifts, and hoists. 6. The Construction Manager will provide temporary fencing around the jobsite perimeter,

as necessary. Contractor will be responsible for maintaining if relocated and/or disassembled.

7. Earthwork and Paving Trades Contractor shall be responsible for maintaining safety compliance and weekly safety meetings.

8. Earthwork and Paving Trades Contractor shall be responsible for their own phone service and drinking water.




9. Earthwork and Paving Trades Contractor employees will park in parking spaces or designated parking area identified by the Construction Manager.

10. Earthwork and Paving Trades Contractor shall be required to coordinate their work with other Prime Contractors, attend weekly coordination meetings and provide 3 week look ahead schedule and daily Task(s), manpower and equipment reports.

11. Time is of the essence on this project. Earthwork and Paving Trades Contractor shall adhere to the Construction Schedule as provided by Construction Manager and may be financially responsible for delays to the schedule in accordance with the contract.

12. Earthwork and Paving Trades Contractor shall refer to the Contractor Access, Laydown and Staging Plan for limits of construction, temporary power and water location. Specific areas for laydown and staging for each trade shall be as determined by the Construction Manager.

13. Earthwork and Paving Trades Contractor shall ensure a superintendent or foreman who is an employee of the contractor shall be present at all times while contractor or subcontractor workers are on site.

14. Earthwork and Paving Trades Contractor shall ensure payment of prevailing wages and timely submission of certified payrolls for all contractor employees and subcontractors.

15. Earthwork and Paving Trades Contractor shall protect from damage to all existing utilities, trees, buildings, hardscape and landscaping to remain.

16. Earthwork and Paving Trades Contractor shall review all Trade Scope Statements carefully and understand other Prime Contractors’ responsibilities. Contractor shall request pre-bid clarifications for items that are missing in scope, repeated in scopes, or may require coordination.

17. Earthwork and Paving Trades Contractor shall be responsible for cleaning pavement and streets from dirt and debris due to their work. Contractors will provide daily clean-up for their work.

18. Any contractor that disturbs SWPPP measures is responsible for returning them to their previous conditions.

19. All Prime Trades Contractors and their Sub-Contractors shall follow, maintain, repair and or replace Erosion Control and storm water pollution prevention measures (BMPs) as their work impacts the established BMP’s as per plans and at the direction of the Construction Manager.

20. All Trades Contractors and your subcontractors will strictly comply with all SWPPP, BMP, CEQA, MND, MMRP, SMP, HazMat, Geological, survey(s), Drawings reports managing measures as it applies to your work. If you disrupt or expose a previously protected and contained element or component during your construction processes, you are required to restore, protect and or contain the affected area(s) restoring the integrity of the area(s) disrupted or exposed as described within the above mentioned documents and as identified by the Construction Management Team.

21. Any and All Contractors off-hauling Soils, Concrete and Asphalt, are to follow the specific guidelines set forth within the Site Specific CEQA and Geotechnical report including MND, MMRP, and SMP Reports.

22. All Trades Contractors must adhere and comply with and to the findings and recommendations stated in the Geotechnical Evaluation and Geologic Hazard Assessment Report(s) including its Addendum 1 provided by Ninyo and Moore (project #402965006, dated December 11, 2017 & November 16, 2018) and at the direction of The District. This statement supersedes any contradictory verbiage which may be in the contract documents.




SECTION B – SPECIFIC ITEMS FOR THIS BID PACKAGE:

Do not exclude any of the following from your bid. Exclusions of any items may render your bid non-responsive.

1. Work is scheduled for a 5-day work week per the attached schedule. Overtime and weekend work is not mandatory unless where designated on the project schedule, however contractor shall ensure sufficient straight time manpower is provided to complete tasks within the durations indicated. If work is delayed due to circumstances beyond the contractor’s control, then the construction manager may adjust the schedule or authorize overtime via change order in order to maintain the schedule.

2. Provide for costs of bonds, insurance, secure equipment and materials storage, provide supervision of sub-trade contractor labor, coordination with other trade contractors, safety, Cal-OSHA approved protection, costs for DOJ background checks, copying, telephones and fax service, office trailers and temporary utilities if needed (location to be determined by Construction Manager), computers and printers.

3. All Trades Contractors shall provide required submittals, shop drawings, RFI’s, PCO’s and any required documents through “ColbiDocs”, The District’s online document processing program.

4. Earthwork and Paving Trades Contractor must recycle building materials and waste to their fullest extent.

5. All contractors are required to submit certified payroll for their forces as well as sub tier trades directly to the Department of Industrial Relations. Contractors and subcontractors will be required to register and submit payroll reports electronically.

6. Earthwork and Paving Trades Contractor must provide survey staking and layout of Earthwork and Paving Contractors work.

7. Earthwork and Paving Trades Contractor shall include two days of utility locating service.

8. Earthwork and Paving Trades contractor must coordinate with Geotechnical Consultant and IOR for all compaction tests and inspections.

9. Earthwork and Paving Trades Contractor shall include all allowances and unit price items in bid as called for in this scope statement and on the bid form.

10. Earthwork and Paving Trades contractor shall abate and demo all items with less than 1% contamination and dispose of debris as appropriate, (Abatement of Lead and Asbestos greater than 1% shall be done by the Abatement Trades Contractor) per ProTech Consulting & Engineering report.

11. Earthwork and Paving Trades Contractor must phase their demo work to accommodate the transitioning of (E) MSB and (N) MSB electrical to the school, at the direction of the Construction Manager. (Note: The school must have continuous power for all operations for all areas outside the construction site. Temporary power for construction will be provided by the Electrical & Low Voltage contractor.)

12. Earthwork and Paving Trades Contractor and/or their Subcontractors is required to have proper DOSH Certification and provide disclosure of said certification upon disposal of unregulated materials with less than 1% contamination as needed at an appropriate disposal site per Section “A” of this document.

13. All Trade Contractors will replace in kind the winterization rock when disturbed by their work.

Drawings Specific Scope of work: (NOTE ALL ITEMS IN RED ADDED DURING ADDENDUM 1 & 3) 1. Earthwork and Paving Trades Contractor shall excavate and remove soils specified by

the site control plan within the soils mitigation plan and dispose of soils to an




appropriate landfill per requirements stated in section “A item #’s 20 & 21 of this document.

2. Earthwork and Paving Trades Contractor shall provide initial set up of erosion control per, but not limited to the erosion control plans, see plan sheets C9.0, C9.1, and C9.2, phasing as directed by the Construction Manager.

3. Earthwork and Paving Trades Contractor shall sawcut, demolish and remove existing site AC, concrete, curbs, landscaping, chain link fence and other site improvements within demo limits indicated on the plans. (Some fencing will stay in place for security purposes & is to be removed in phases at the direction of the Construction Manager.)

4. Note: Any additional site demolition not shown in plans and only as directed by the authorized District representative will be compensated as terms and costs are determined at time of identification of work.

5. All excavation spoils are to be removed to an appropriate landfill per requirements stated in section “A item #’s 20 & 21” of this document

6. All demolition materials are to be removed from the site and recycled as applicable. 7. Protect or Remove trees as identified on plans and maintain tree protection as outlined

in Sec. 015639 and as it pertains to any of your specific work areas you have impacted. 8. Earthwork and Paving Trades Contractor shall perform all site, building, canopy and

associated foundation demolition. Also, site clearing within limits of work shown on the demolition drawings (ASD-01, ASD-02, ASD-121, PSD-01, PSD-02, S9.1, S9.2, C3.0, C3.1).

9. Earthwork and Paving Trades Contractor will remove all abandoned utilities, underground electrical, storm drain, sanitary and irrigation lines as discovered. Excavations to be backfilled and compacted per the Geotechnical Report.

10. Safe-off of storm drain, sanitary sewer, gas and waterlines are the responsibility of the UG Utilities contractor. Safe off of electrical by Electrical contractor. New utility trenches and backfill is the responsibility of the respective UG Utilities, Landscaping and Electrical contractors.

11. Earthwork and Paving Trades Contractor will perform all site clearing, subgrade preparation and compaction for all the building pads, site AC, concrete walls, vertical curbs, concrete planters, decomposed granite, pervious concrete paving and concrete paving. Provide engineered fill including applicable base rock for sidewalks, flatwork and AC paving as per plans & specs. Provide compaction of subgrade and fill material to specified standards per the Geotechnical report and plans & Specs. Screen and remove rocks in backfill material per the Geotechnical report.

12. Earthwork and Paving Trades Contractor shall provide grade checking to set accurate grades for building sites, elevation transitions, retaining walls, site concrete, concrete curbs, seat walls, and bio-retention areas and AC paving. Provide remobilizations as necessary to accommodate site grade & pave activities. Coordinate closely with All Other Trade Contractors.

13. Earthwork and Paving Trades Contractor shall perform over-excavation, back fill and compaction for all building pads and structures per the geotechnical report and plans.

14. Provide fine grading associated with re-establishing site concrete subgrade. Coordinate closely with Site Concrete Trades Contractor.

15. Earthwork and Paving Trades Contractor shall perform excavation for all bioretention systems at bioretention areas. (Note: The U.G. Utilities Trades Contractor will provide perforated piping, drain inlets, and class II permeable rock, and river rock, The Landscaping Trades Contractor will provide the biotreatment soil mix and the planting, The Site Concrete Trades Contractor will provide concrete planter boxes as needed).

16. Earthwork and Paving Trades Contractor will provide all AC pavement work, including header boards transitioning your work with any others, vehicular Wheel Stops, Parking lot/ADA striping and Signage. (Note: Decorative or Playground striping, and door swing




caution lines are the responsibility of the GC. Painting for concrete curbs is the responsibility of the site concrete trades contractor.) Earthwork & Paving Contractor to coordinate with GC and site concrete trades.

17. Earthwork and Paving Trades Contractor shall provide and install joint sealants and expansion joint caulking related to Earthwork and Paving as specified.

18. The district will pay or reimburse for city street AC paving improvements permit fee and the Earthwork and Paving Trades Contractor will apply and obtain the permit and perform work per plans.

19. Earthwork and Paving Trades Contractor shall provide required safety measures for Pedestrian and Automobile traffic during any onsite or offsite AC Paving improvement work where any pedestrian or vehicle traffic may be present.

20. Earthwork and Paving Trades Contractor shall provide winterization to the limits of construction as exposed and directed by the Construction Manager. All Rough graded areas will be held 6” below designed grade, compacted per the soils report and signed off by the Soils Tech. The final 6” of fill will be Class II Aggregate Base Rock compacted to 95% to designed subgrade and building pad grades. In all cases grades will be established to direct rain water to catch basins, retention ponds, silt ponds or other devices to keep the building site free from standing water during the rainy season. When there is no choice but to direct water to an area that cannot drain, a float activated sump pump and discharge pipe will be installed to facilitate. The Earthwork and Paving trade will be responsible to maintain the pump in working condition while in service.

21. Earthwork and Paving Trades Contractor to include $100,000 Allowance in their bid for any additional work requested by the district.

22. Earthwork and Paving Trades Contractor shall lime treat (or at the direction of a authorized district representative, provide Engineered Fill per Plan & Spec) a minimum of 5’ beyond parameter limits for building footings and building pads extend continuous to below planned subgrade or building footing, whichever is deeper.

23. Earthwork and Paving Trades Contractor shall encapsulate, demo, handle and dispose of all lead-based components in the appropriate methods, following all regulations and per the Hazmat report Titled “HazMat Report for Asbestos & Lead (Pb) Report Limited Pre-Demolition/Renovation Survey & Evaluation” for Taft dated 06/29/18. The work shall not cause or allow the lead-based items to become friable.

24. Earthwork and Paving Trades Contractor shall coordinate with the General Trades Contractor for protection and shoring of partially demoed canopy.

25. 22. All trades contractors must adhere and comply with and to the findings and recommendations stated in the Geotechnical Evaluation and Geologic Hazard Assessment Report(s) including its Addendum 1 provided by Ninyo and Moore (project #402965006, dated December 11, 2017 & November 16, 2018) and at the direction of The District. This statement supersedes any contradictory verbiage which may be in the contract documents.






1. Work is scheduled for a 5 day work week per the attached schedule. Overtime and weekend work is not mandatory unless where designated on the project schedule, however contractor shall ensure sufficient straight time manpower is provided to complete tasks within the durations indicated. If work is delayed due to circumstances beyond the contractor’s control, then the construction manager may adjust the schedule or authorize overtime via change order in order to maintain the schedule.



4. Underground Utilities Trades Contractor must Recycle Materials and Waste to their fullest extent.


6. Underground Utilities Trades Contractor shall provide survey staking and layout of Underground Utilities Trade Contractor’s work.

7. Underground Utilities Trades Contractor shall provide utility locating services as necessary to perform all work.

8. Underground Utilities Trades Contractor shall coordinate with Geotechnical consultant and IOR for all compaction tests and inspections.

12. All Trades Contractors will replace in kind the winterization rock when disturbed by their work.

Drawings Specific Scope of Work: 1. Underground Utilities Trades Contractor shall remove spoils from excavation of trenches

specified within the soils mitigation plan and dispose of soils to an appropriate landfill per requirements stated in section “A” item #’s 20 & 21 of this document.

3. Underground Utilities Trades Contractor shall safe off their utilities prior to demolition for both new building construction and modernization. Pothole, shut down utility, cut and remove section of pipe and cap end where existing utility will remain and recharge the utility system. (Note: abandoned utility demolition will be performed by the Earthwork and Paving Contractor and electrical utility safe off will be performed by the Electrical Contractors Trade).




4. Underground Utilities Trades Contractor shall, except as necessary to make new POC connections, exclude the removal of abandoned utilities lines and subsequent backfill and compaction. Note Earthwork and Paving contractor to remove abandoned utilities.

5. Underground Utilities Trades Contractor shall perform trench excavation, backfill & compaction to adjacent grade for all site fire water, domestic water, gas, sanitary sewer and storm drain systems.

6. Underground Utilities Trades Contractor will provide and install all site fire service, 7. domestic water, gas, sanitary sewer and storm drain work. Provide all excavation,

subgrade preparation, bedding, backfill & compaction to adjacent grade for their work. Include all connections, valves, boxes, devices, inlets, trench drains, finish grates, concrete collars, thrust blocks, PIV, FDC and other necessary work for complete utility services to and for the building and site per plans. This includes utilities underneath the new buildings. Temporarily cap utility pipe below grade and as-build locations for future final connections approximately 5 feet from the New Building(s). Note: Final utility connections at the New Building(s) will be done by the plumbing trades contractor.

8. Underground Utilities Trades Contractor shall provide potholing to identify exact location for utility points of connection.

9. Underground Utilities Trades Contractor shall install necessary domestic water meters and backflow devices per plans and specs.

10. Underground Utilities Trades Contractor to include installation of fire line risers to approximately 12 inches above interior slabs (FF) at fire riser locations and provide sleeves through floor slabs as indicated on plans.

11. Underground Utilities Trades Contractor will provide and install piping, drain inlets, and class II permeable rock, and river rock for all bioretention systems at bioretention areas. 12. Electrical and Low Voltage Trades Contractor must phase their safe off work to accommodate the transitioning of (E) MSB and (N) MSB electrical to the school, at the direction of the Construction Manager in conjunction with the Earthwork & Paving contractor and their demo work. (Note: The school must have continuous power for all operations for all areas outside the construction site. Temporary power for construction will be provided by the Electrical & Low Voltage contractor.)

6. Electrical and Low Voltage Trades Contractor shall provide and install all necessary underground electrical power and low voltage routes and reroutes.

7. Electrical and Low Voltage Trades Contractor will provide all power conductors and energize connections to distribution panels.

9. Electrical and Low Voltage Trades Contractor will field verify and reuse electrical raceways, electrical data and conduits, and electrical outlets stated on, but not limited to sheet A-401M for all work related to the electrical and low voltage trade contractor.

Electrical and Low Voltage Trades Contractor will provide and install all underground electrical and low voltage distribution, conduits, panels, conductors, pull boxes, vaults, pads, equipment and associated trenching, backfill and pavement patching. 11. Electrical and Low Voltage Trades Contractor shall provide saw cutting and removal of asphalt and concrete paving as needed for installation of new site electrical and low voltage. Provide asphalt and concrete patching to restore existing hard scape outside the limits of demolition shown on the plans. 3. Plumbing Trades Contractor shall provide all necessary safe off prior to selective demolition for building modernization. (see, but not limited to: PS-101, PSD-01)

4. Plumbing Trades Contractor is responsible to land connections for electrical to Insta hots, toilets, and other plumbing fixtures and accessories which have electrical components in new classroom buildings. (Note: Electrical contractor to provide conduit and wiring stub up to all plumbing utilities and plumbing trades contractor to make final connections).

5. Plumbing Trades Contractor shall provide materials and labor for final utility connections from the field to the New Building(s). Underground Utilities Trades Contractor shall extend their respective utilities to within five feet of the New Building(s).

6. Plumbing Trades Contractor is to provide, from UG supplied stubs, all final utility connections to the buildings.

7. Plumbing Trades Contractor will provide and install for all New Building(s) piping and conveyance systems for domestic water, gas, sanitary sewer, plumbing vents, floor




drains, fixtures, sinks, drinking fountains, hangers, valves, valve boxes, gas regulators, lockable steel cages for gas shut-off valves, back flow preventers associated with domestic plumbing, water fountains, sinks, toilets, urinals, water heaters, insta-hots, drywells, plumbing insulation, and ID labeling , condensate piping and drains ,as indicated in the plans.

Contractor shall properly abate and dispose of all asbestos, lead, light tubes, and any other regulated hazardous materials in the quantities and manner indicated in the document “HazMat Report for Asbestos & Lead (Pb) Report Limited Pre-Demolition/Renovation Survey & Evaluation” for Taft dated 06/29/18. Obtain all necessary clearances prior to proceeding with building demolition. Coordinate all abatement activities with the District’s hazardous materials consultant (ProTech).

2. In the event that any unforeseen asbestos, lead, light tubes, ballasts, and any other hazardous regulated materials are discovered, The abatement Trades Contractor shall inform the district representative and properly abate in the manner indicated in the documents stated in section “A” of this document and in the “HazMat Report for Asbestos & Lead (Pb) Report Limited Pre Demolition/Renovation Survey & Evaluation” at the direction of Construction Manager.

3. Abatement Trades Contractor shall include an allowance of Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000.00) for any unforeseen asbestos, lead, light tubes, ballasts, and any other hazardous regulated materials discovered.

4. The Abatement Trades contractor will not provide abatement of lead-based items, unless the lead-based materials have been compromised and deemed to have become friable in the process of demolition.

1.7 QUALIFICATIONS

A. Installer: Company specializing in Work of this Section with minimum five (5) years documented experience; manufacturer approved.

1.8 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

A. Delivery of Equipment:

1. Coordinate delivery with proper schedule and jobsite conditions. 2. Deliver equipment in manufacturer's original packaging, clearly identified as to

product and manufacturer,

3. Where possible, deliver each item of equipment in one (1) piece. If not possible, assemble equipment in the building in accordance with workmanship standards specified herein.

B. Storage of Equipment:

1. Store equipment in protected areas, in manufacturer's original packaging where possible, in such a way as to prevent damage to equipment and finishes, and to the structure. Damaged or defective materials and equipment shall be replaced at no cost to the Owner.

1.9 FIELD CONDITIONS

A. Examine appropriate existing job site areas and notify Owner’s Representative if conditions exist which will impede, inhibit, or prevent the contractor from completing the Work. In the absence of such notification it will be assumed that no such conditions exist.

B. To assure proper operation, site conditions should be controlled. The walk-in product should be in a well-ventilated location. Indoor ambient conditions should be controlled, relative humidity between 30%-60% and maintaining a dew point of 50 deg F (or less).

1.10 WARRANTY

A. Manufacturer shall provide a written warranty to the Owner stating the product is free from defects or workmanship under normal use and service. Warranty shall become effective following the Date of Substantial Completion.

B. Furnish 15 year panel warranty for walk-in cooler insulated panels.

C. Furnish 18 months parts and labor warranty for refrigeration system.

D. Furnish additional 5 year compressor warranty.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS

2.1 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

A. Walk-in cooler to be constructed of pre-fabricated, precision formed, modular panels designed for quick field assembly.

1. 8’-0” wide x 7’-6” long x 7’-4” high (nominal), supplied without a floor.

2.3 GENERAL

A. Walk-in coolers and freezers to consist of precision constructed modular 4” or 5” thick rigid polyurethane foamed-in-place interchangeable panels. Panels are designed for easy installation, expansion and relocation.

B. Panels shall be prefabricated modular construction consisting of 100% foamed-in-place polyurethane insulation, bonded by an adhesive to the interior and the exterior metal pan skins and heat cured for life long stability.

C. Each wall panel skin is to be formed using a double 90° bend on each edge to add strength and rigidity. Panels are to be in 6 inch increments, with a minimum width of 12 inches.

D. All panels are to bear the UL and NSF label. The panels shall incorporate cam lock type fasteners with reverse wing structural support as joining devices for the adjacent tongue and groove panels. Each device is to consist of a cam action locking arm and a steel rod in adjoining panel so that by rotating the locking arm, the hook engages over the rod and the cam action draws the panel together. The resulting panel joints shall be sealed by a foamed-in-place, continuous one piece gasket.

E. Panel joints are to be precisely formed male and female tongue and groove shapes fabricated to force the male edge to contact the female edge, providing additional seal. The panel joint shall have a gasket which provides a positive seal that meets NSF standards. Gasket shall be “locked” to the skins and run in a continuous piece, completely around the panel with only one break to provide the optimal seal.

2.4 INSULATION

A. Insulation shall be a full 4 inches or 5 inches thick, UL Class 1 rigid foamed-in-place HFO polyurethane with a minimum 2.15 lbs/cubic foot density. Foam polyurethane shall be injected into the panels by means of a high output, high impingement mixer.

B. The R-values for 4” HFO panels are: 1. Cooler:

a. Walls/Ceilings R-value 25. b. Doors R-value 25.

2. Freezer: a. Walls/Ceilings R-value 32. b. Doors R-value 32 Floors R-value 28.

C. Insulation shall be 90% closed cell structure. Flame spread rating of the foam core according to ASTM E-84/UL 723 shall be 25 or less.

D. The use of an HFC as a blowing agent is specifically prohibited.

2.5 FLOOR STYLE

A. Less-floor, 4” wall walk-ins shall be supplied with a 4-3/8” high foam screed sealer. Screed shall be of similar construction to wall panels with matching finish.

B. Cove Molding: Shall be factory provided for complete interior of prefabricated room. Cove molding to be 0.040” embossed aluminum, and installed with water-resistant contact adhesive. Comply with NSF requirements for sanitary floor practices.

2.6 CEILING PANELS

A. Ceiling panels shall be a full 4 inches or 5 inches thick with one piece foamed-in-place edge caps. Edge caps include metal formed adhesion edges which result in the edge caps being a foamed integrated member of the ceiling panels. Glued-in-place edge caps are not acceptable.

B. Metal face skins are to incorporate seams using a double 90° bend at a maximum width of two feet for additional strength. The joint between the ceiling and wall shall form a 45° angle to allow for easy cleaning.

2.7 FINISHES

A. The interior and exterior walls and interior ceiling shall be supplied with 26 gauge corrosion resistant stucco-embossed coated steel.

2.8 DOOR CONSTRUCTION

A. Entrance door shall be in fitting, flush design. The door section shall provide a full 4 inches or 5 inches of polyurethane HFO insulation, construction and finish shall be the same as the adjoining wall panels.

B. The door shall be 4 inches thick, constructed to incorporate heavy duty, molded ABS breaker strip, which is permanently foamed-in-place. Bottom of door shall seal with double sweep gaskets, uniquely designed to provide complete seal between door, threshold, and door jamb.

C. Door jamb to be a fully coved, extruded, welded, structural anodized aluminum, rigid frame design for easy cleaning and maintenance.

D. Threshold plate provided shall be constructed of fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) or extruded aluminum for bearing strength. All doors shall have an anti-sweat heater wire around the entire perimeter of the door opening and under threshold.

E. The heater wire (standard in both coolers and freezers) shall provide enough heat to prevent condensation. All conduit for the inner-wiring of the door panel shall be totally concealed in the polyurethane foam panel, exposed conduit is not acceptable.

F. Door section to be field-wired to surface mounted junction box on the interior door panel. The door size, location and swing to be as indicated on Drawings.

G. Door hardware shall be highly-polished chromium-plated steel. Hardware shall include a spring actuated door closer, field adjustable cam lift hinges, one spring-hinge and deadbolt locking handle with independent key/padlock feature and inside safety release. All hardware shall be attached to extra large 1/2-inch thick, nonconducting synthetic tapping plates.

H. Digital thermometer calibrated to indicate interior walk-in temperature shall be provided with each entrance door.

I. High-output low-profile LED light with approximately twice the light output of a standard 60W incandescent or 13-15W CFL, guaranteed for 5 years or 35,000 hours. Light is

positioned above the door to prevent interference with shelving or product. Locate light switch with pilot light adjacent to door, on exterior handle side of door section, with all inner wiring in conduit concealed inside the door section and terminated at a surface mounted junction box on the interior door frame. Fixture shall operate on 120 VAC.

2.9 SHELVING SYSTEM

A. Provide manufacturer’s U-shaped shelving kit specifically designed for each walk-in configuration. These kits are shipped with the walk-in so that all necessary components are at your location promptly when you need them. The shelving sets are coded to correspond to the walk-in configuration ordered; provide in four tier configuration.

B. Shelving Finish: Nor-Lake Standard Chrome Kote™ Shelving: Plated quality wire and steel. Surface nickel chrome plated.

C. Shelving posts are engineered for maximum strength. Shelves are adjustable on 1" centers.

All shelves are NSF. listed. Special clips are utilized to gain the maximum square footage of storage space for each model. 14”, 18” and 24” wide shelves are used as required for maximum storage capacity in each set. This wire shelving is ideal for storage of all refrigerated or frozen products, as well as non-refrigerated storage.

1. Shelves to have #9 (0.148") ga. crosswires spaced 3/4" on centers with crossbraces 1/4" (0.192") minimum of 4-3/4" on center.

2. Shelf Frames: Channel to be 9/16" x 1" x 0.075" thick. 3. Shelf Collars: A round tapered 1-5/16" high steel collar to be welded at each corner.

E. Posts: Posts to be 0.062" thick 1" O.D. round tubing notched every 1" on each corner of the post.

F. Post Levelers: Installed on the bottom of each post is nylon housing for a steel leveler 3/8"-

16 x 1-3/4".

2.10 REMOTE REFRIGERATION SYSTEM

A. Split-Pak™ Pre-Assembled Remote Systems: Pre-assembled systems shall be furnished for remote condensing unit installations using the basic components described under the general section.

1. Condensing unit shall be factory mounted to a galvanized steel rack. 2. Rack is to include a control box enclosing factory pre-wired pressure controls and

contactor for three phase units. 3. Optional condensing unit housing and low ambient controls for the specific

application shall be factory installed. 4. Liquid line filter drier, sight glass, expansion valve and temperature control shall be

factory installed. 5. A time clock housed in an enclosure shall be provided loose, for field installation. 6. The systems shall be designed to require no evaporator/ condensing unit inter-wiring. 7. Field provided two point electrical connection and refrigerant piping shall be required.

B. General:

1. Ambient temperatures around the system should be less than +90°F and 50% RH.

2. Condensing unit shall use air-cooled scroll compressor, designed for industrial use, to meet DOE requirements.

3. Condensing units shall be factory assembled and UL listed. 4. Systems shall be supplied with R449A refrigerant 5. Evaporators shall be forced air type designed for ceiling installation. Evaporators

shall be equipped with gravity-feed condensate line with pea trap for discharge through exterior building wall.

6. Air discharge shall be parallel to the walk-in ceiling. 7. Fan motors, guards, multi-fin and tube-type coil shall be housed in heavy gauge

aluminum housing. 8. Unit shall have drain pan with suitable drain pipe connection. 9. Freezer evaporators shall have an automatic electric defrost system including

heaters, time clock, defrost end and fan delay control and heated drain pan. 10. Defrost shall be time initiated and temperature terminated with built-in failsafe control. 11. All cooler systems are equipped with an "off cycle" timer to maximize heat transfer

and maintain optimum energy efficiency. 12. Evaporators shall be U.L. listed and be available in Lo-Profile design.

2.11 ACCESSORIES

A. Provide manufacturer’s standard seismic hardware package (Tap-con Anchors, etc.) and installation accessories as needed, based on walk-in cooler dimensions.

PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.1 EXAMINATION

A. Examine areas, with Installer present, for compliance with requirements for installation tolerances, location of framing and reinforcements, and other conditions affecting performance of the Work.

B. Take field measurements; report variance between plan and field dimensions.

C. Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.

3.2 PREPARATION

A. Field Measurements: Prior to fabricating, ordering, or delivering equipment verify essential measurements at the Work Site. Verify mechanical and electrical conditions having bearing on the work, as well as pertinent existing equipment and architectural conditions. Make every effort necessary to clarify conditions not accessible to visual examination.

3.3 INSTALLATION

A. Standards: Comply with NSF standards in methods of installing, mounting, and securing equipment.

B. Installation:

1. Utility penetrations: Provide penetrations required at panels to accommodate electrical and refrigeration lines and sufficient quantities of 5” diameter matching escutcheon plates to dress off utility penetrations, including drain lines. Escutcheon blanks’ hole cutting and sealing around penetrations to be performed by other trades.

2. Erection, installation, start-up, and testing shall be done by a California State Licensed Refrigeration Contractor, authorized by the manufacturer of the Walk-In Cooler for the work.

3. Seismic Anchoring: Provide and install seismic fasteners and anchors per manufacturer’s recommendation and local governing seismic codes.

3.4 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL

A. After installation, test mechanical and electrical equipment including, but not limited to refrigeration systems, and in general valves, regulators, tubing, wiring, piping, connections, gauges, safety devices, sensors, and other devices required for the proper operation of the equipment, for operating efficiency and conformance to requirements specified. Test and re-test until equipment is properly operating.

B. Manufacturer's Representative Field Service: Representative of the Walk-In Cooler manufacturer shall make inspections during installation and upon completion of installation to ascertain that the entire system has been installed according to manufacturer's specifications and approved details.

2.5 CLEANING AND PROTECTING

A. Perform fitting, joining, leveling, fastening, scribing, sealing, and adjusting of fixed equipment. Do cutting, drilling, and fitting in equipment necessary to accommodate work of mechanical and electrical trades.

B. Cleaning: Remove from equipment stains, paint spots, protective wrappings, coatings, tapes, grease, oil, plaster, dust, polishing compounds, rust, and other foreign substances.

C. Touch-up: After installation, damaged, stained, or otherwise disfigured portions of the work shall be touched up, refinished, or replaced to the satisfaction of the Owner’s representative.

PART 1 - GENERAL

1.1 SUMMARY

A. Section Includes: Floor-anchored, overhead-braced, solid color reinforced composite substrate toilet compartments configured as toilet enclosures and urinal screens.

B. Related Documents: The Conditions of the Contract and Division 1 apply to this section as fully as if repeated herein.

C. Related Requirements:

1. Section 09 22 16 - Non-Structural Metal Framing: Coordination with blocking in walls to secure panels, wall posts, and stiles.

2. Section 09 29 00 - Gypsum Board, coordination with blocking. 3. Section 09 30 13 - Ceramic Tiling, coordination with layout and installation. 4. Section 10 28 13 - Toilet Accessories.

1.2 SEQUENCING

A. Ensure that products of this section are supplied to affected trades in time to prevent interruption of construction progress.

1.3 ACTION SUBMITTALS

A. Product Data: Submit manufacturer's technical data for materials, fabrication, finishes, fastenings, hardware, and installation details.

B. Shop Drawings: Submit shop drawings indicating elevations of partitions, thickness of SCRC material, fastenings, proposed method of anchoring, size and spacing of anchors, details of construction, hardware, fittings, mountings and other related items and installation details.

C. Selection Samples: For each finish product specified, two complete sets of color chips representing manufacturer's full range of available colors and patterns.

D. Verification Samples: For each finish product specified, two samples, minimum size 6 inches square representing actual product, color, and patterns.

D. Product Schedule: For toilet compartments, prepared by or under the supervision of supplier, detailing location and selected colors for toilet compartment material.

E. Submittal procedures and quantities are specified in Section 01 33 00.

1.4 CLOSEOUT SUBMITTALS

A. Maintenance Data: For toilet compartments to include in maintenance manuals.

1.5 QUALITY ASSURANCE

A. Manufacturer Qualifications: Minimum 10 years experience manufacturing similar products.

B. Installer Qualifications: Minimum 2 years experience installing similar products.

C. Single Source Requirements: To the greatest extent possible provide products from a single manufacturer.

D. Coordination: Furnish inserts and anchorages that must be built into other construction for installation of toilet compartments.

E. Regulatory Requirements: Provide toilet compartments meeting the requirements for the physically disabled of the 2016 California Building Code (CBC) Title 24 Part 2, and 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design.

1.6 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

A. Deliver and store materials in the manufacturer's original protective packaging except that should packaging become wet, remove it immediately to avoid wet storage stains.

B. Store materials in an enclosed shelter providing protection from damage and exposure to the elements.

1.7 PROJECT CONDITIONS

A. Field Measurements: Verify actual locations of toilet fixtures, walls, columns, ceilings, and other construction contiguous with toilet compartments by field measurements before fabrication.

B. Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's recommended limits.

1.8 WARRANTY

A. Submit manufacturer’s extended warranty under the provisions of Section 01 78 36.

B. Submit Manufacturer's standard 25 year limited warranty for panels, doors, and stiles against breakage, corrosion, delamination, and defects in factory workmanship.

C. Submit Manufacturer's standard 1 year guarantee against defects in material and workmanship for stainless steel door hardware and mounting brackets

PART 2 - PRODUCTS

2.1 MANUFACTURER

12. Door handles and latches have operable parts that are operable with one hand and do not require tight grasping, pinching, or twisting of the wrist; and comply with ADA Sections 404.2.7 and 309.4. The force required to activate the operable parts shall be 5 pounds maximum.

13. Door pull handles (2) are provided for installation on both sides of the Wheelchair Accessible and Ambulatory Toilet Compartment door adjacent to the door latch, 34" minimum to 48" maximum above the floor, to comply with CBC 11B-604.8.1.2.

2.3 FABRICATION

A. Fabrication, General: Fabricate toilet compartment components to sizes indicated. Coordinate requirements and provide cutouts for through-partition toilet accessories where required for attachment of toilet accessories.

B. Floor-Anchored Units: Provide manufacturer's standard corrosion-resistant anchoring assemblies with leveling adjustment nuts at pilasters for structural connection to floor. Provide shoes at pilasters to conceal anchorage.

C. Door Size and Swings: Unless otherwise indicated, provide 24-inch wide in-swinging doors for standard toilet compartments and 36-inch wide out-swinging doors with a minimum 32-inch wide clear opening for compartments designated as accessible.

PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.1 EXAMINATION

A. Examine areas and conditions, with Installer present, for compliance with requirements for fastening, support, alignment, operating clearances, and other conditions affecting performance of the Work.

1. Confirm location and adequacy of blocking and supports required for installation.

B. Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.

3.2 PREPARATION

A. Prepare substrates including but not limited to blocking and supports in walls and ceilings at

points of attachment using methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrates under the project conditions. 1. Inspect areas scheduled to receive compartments for correct dimensions, plumbness

of walls, and soundness of surfaces that would affect installation of mounting brackets.

2. Verify spacing of plumbing fixtures to assure compatibility with installation of compartments.

B. If preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect in writing of deviations

from manufacturer’s recommended installation tolerances and conditions. C. Do not proceed with installation until substrates have been properly prepared with blocking

and supports in walls and ceilings at points of attachment and deviations from manufacturer’s recommended tolerances are corrected. Commencement of installation constitutes acceptance of conditions.

3.3 INSTALLATION

Measure T - Phase 1


A. General: Comply with manufacturer's written installation instructions. Install units rigid, straight, level, and plumb. Secure units in position with manufacturer's recommended anchoring devices.

1. Maximum Clearances:

a. Pilasters and Panels: 1/2 inch. b. Panels and Walls: 1 inch.

2. Full-Height (Continuous) Brackets: Secure panels to walls and to pilasters with full-height brackets.

a. Locate bracket fasteners so holes for wall anchors occur in tile joints. b. Align brackets at pilasters with brackets at walls. c. At light gage steel framed walls fasten brackets with toggle or molly bolts into

metal studs or backing plates fastened directly to the studs.

B. Overhead-Braced Units: Secure pilasters to floor and level, plumb, and tighten. Set pilasters with anchors penetrating not less than 1-3/4 inches into structural floor unless otherwise indicated in manufacturer's written instructions. Secure continuous head rail to each pilaster with no fewer than two fasteners. Hang doors to align tops of doors with tops of panels, and adjust so tops of doors are parallel with overhead brace when doors are in closed position.

C. Urinal Screens: Attach with anchoring devices to suit supporting structure. Set units level and plumb, rigid, and secured to resist lateral impact.

3.4 ADJUSTING AND CLEANING

A. Hardware Adjustment: After installation, carefully adjust hardware for proper operation. Except for accessible stalls, set hinges on in-swinging doors to hold open approximately 30 degrees from the closed position when unlatched. Set hinges on out-swinging doors to return to the fully closed position. Adjust doors so that bottoms of doors are level with the bottoms of the pilasters when the doors are in the closed position. Accessible stall doors shall be self-closing.

B. Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products.

C. Cleaning: Clean compartments and doors upon completion of work and leave free from imperfections.
