Assistant Principal’s Message

Greetings Red Knight Nation,

Here we are: quarter two and as can be

expected, North High is in full stride prep-

ping students for success and the results

speak for themselves! Yes, we are still

bragging about our “A” status.

As you read through this edition of KnightLine you’ll notice that great things

continue to happen here at North Ft. Myers High School and that we are still

a rigorous and challenging academic institution. Our AICE and Center for the

Arts students are preparing for their respective course exams and competi-

tions, while athletics and activities maintain their laser like focus to win com-

petitions and championships.

Coach Eskay, now in her sixth year as the head coach, has our Lady Red

Knight Volleyball team sitting with an impressive winning record and while

Coach Mack (in his first year at the helm) has the Red Knight Varsity Football

team ranked 3rd out of all 20 SWFL teams for the News-Press Power Rank-

ings. Both teams are district contenders and possess the means to advance

to the regional level. Our JROTC program can be seen every afternoon

working out as they prepare to defend their National Champion status and

seek to achieve their third National Championship ring. continued on page 2

CREDIT RETRIEVAL

North High’s Homecoming week was a fabulous suc-

cess charged with so much energy. North High’s Student Government Association

organized a great week which included some of the best window paintings, great

student dress up days, the pep rally, our football game victory over Island Coast

and of course the dance (An Arabian Knight) which was a huge success with over

1000 students in attendance. It was a great North High Homecoming week that

any alumnus would have been proud of.

As we move forward, be sure to peruse our website and check our Marquee for

upcoming events and information. In November and December, look for the

Center of the Arts performances and I’d be remiss if I didn’t remind our future Red

Knights of Red Carpet Knight. It’s a great night and opportunity to experience why

North Ft. Myers High School is an “A” school.

We’re very proud of our accomplishments! You should be too!

It’s great to be a Red Knight!

MESSAGES FROM GUIDANCE

Congratulation to Zachary Forbes, for being nominated North Fort Myers High School DAR “Daughters of the American Revolution” Good Citizen. Zachary with-out a doubt exemplifies the qualities of a good citizen through his dependability as a student, his service and leadership to his school, and his selfless patriotism to his family, friends, school and local community. Congratulations to Zachary! Please be sure you are checking out our scholarship newsletter that is updated monthly. Go to: https://nfm.leeschools.net/our_students/collegeandcareer Stu-dents can also find the scholarship newsletter in their grade level google class-room, under the tab Scholarship Newsletter/Information. For additional infor-mation regarding scholarships, please contact Christy Gorton at [email protected].

Mr. Vogt would like to congratu-

late the 73 students who have

successfully completed an E2020

course for credit retrieval so far

this year. The credit retrieval

class is designed to allow students

who have, for one reason or an-

other, not passed a course that is

required for graduation. They are

retrieving the credit to be able to

graduate on schedule. Not all stu-

dents are seniors, but it is just as

important for underclassmen to

retrieve any missed credits. One

student has completed three

courses already!

“Atta-boy!” -Mr. Vogt

SAVE THE BEACH CLUB

On Saturday 10-20-2018 the two clubs went together

(twenty students and two teacher/sponsors) to hike

and clean Prairie Pines Preserve. What we found was

a breathtaking, clean and pristine place to hike in true

Florida country. We did observe the landscape and

the flora and fauna. The area was left cleaner, and

we can’t wait to return to hike the longer trail as it

was closed for maintenance.

District Cross Country meet

BOYS’ GOLF TEAM

Please congratulate our boys golf team as they competed at districts yesterday and put on a great display of sportsmanship, integrity and respect for the game. We fell a couple of shots short of making it to regionals as a team but Freshman Aiden Denlinger will be competing as an individual has he scored low enough to move on. Yesterday at the match overheard our players being truthful to their score on multiple occasions that the opponents had counted wrong for them. I couldn’t have been prouder of the boys for their hard work this season and how far they have come. So if you see the following students please congratulate them on being an awesome representation of the Red Knights. Seniors: Cameron Connelly, Logan Varsogea Junior: Sean Torrico Freshman: Aiden Delinger, Samuel Lakes On the team but didn’t compete in Districts: Junior Xavier Lamb, Freshmen Alex Lioce and Ronald Gilcher

na Bruggeman-Munoz, Allarie Kovacs and

EXCEPTIONAL STUDENT EDUCATION EXCEPTIONAL STUDENT EDUCATION

At the beginning of the school year, 11 new interns joined the teams at HealthPark Medical Center and Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida. These interns are part of Project SEARCH, a one-year transition from school-to-work program for students with intellectual or developmental disabilities. The primary objective of the program is to help high school students develop life and work skills appropriate for competi-tive employment. Along with our employees, the interns re-ceive training and continuous feedback from a job coach and a school instructor.

“Project SEARCH is a program that helps students find jobs

and to be independent. I have also learned new skills to assist

me when the internship program is over” -Daniel Jaramillo

“Project SEARCH is helping me to talk to others more, to push

myself to do things that I am not used to and it gives me the

opportunity to learn new things.” -Cristian Anthony
