Moisture Damage

• Adhesion failure

• Water has a higher affinity for aggregatecompared to asphalt

• Asphalt cannot bond to aggregate with a wetsurface

• Cohesion failure• Inclusion of water within asphalt will weaken it’s

cohesive strength

• Moisture/Water should be eliminated from mix and

not incorporated

• Rediset products are designed to improve bothadhesion and cohesion in asphalt mixes

• 55°F to 65°F reduction in mix temperature

• Compaction between 250°F to 210°F

• Initial field densities in the range that would result inbonus payment

• Good results with the Hamburg WT tests (>20,000cycles)

• Paving crew experiences significant reduction infumes and odor

• APAC pleased with the results and looking towardsusing our additive in cooler months to extend theseason
