75th Anniversary Charter Sunday, November 16, 1933

We welcome Pastor Steve Sutterer of Marshfield, Wisconsin, who will be our special speaker this

weekend.

Pastor Steve was born in Rochester, MN, March 25, 1955. He was the son of the late William F.

Sutterer and Betty J. Lee Sutterer. He lived in Rochester most of his life with six years of his

childhood in Gainesville, Florida. He joined Redeemer in 1968 and was active in youth group

and choir. He graduated from Rochester John Marshall in 1973 and St. Olaf College in 1977.

He taught junior high in Alexandria, MN, from 1977-79. He felt a calling to serve God and

the church and went to Concordia St. Louis in 1981 and graduated in 1984. He did his vicarage

where his grandfather vicared about 60 years before him at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus

Falls, MN. He accepted his first call to serve at St. Paul’s Lutheran in Milaca, MN, until 1988.

He then took a year out to train for chaplaincy completing his CPE residency at Methodist

Hospital in Rochester, MN, in 1989. He then accepted a call to serve Redeemer Lutheran

Church in 1990 and stayed until accepting a call as chaplain for the North Wisconsin District at

St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, Wisconsin, where he continues to serve today. He has two

sons, Matthew, working at UW psychology department in research and David, who is a junior

at UW majoring in biology and psychology.

We Remember - Please join us for a special Bible Class hour at 9:20 am on Sunday in the

Fellowship Hall. We will be reviewing the entire 75 year history of Redeemer. See the new

historical displays now added to the exhibit in the Fellowship Hall.

We Dedicate our new Redeemer Stained Glass Window. It’s only been one year ago that we first

entertained the notion of having a large stained glass window made for our stairwell that would

not only cover a less favorable outside view but more importantly provide us with a reminder

of our 75 years together as a congregation. Upon request the congregation submitted 13 designs

that were reviewed for feasibility of construction and message portrayal. Four designs were

then put to a congregational vote over a 3 week timeframe where a total of 279 votes were

tallied. Confident that the funding for the new window would continue to stream in, our chosen

design was then taken to Mike and Stephanie Podulke of Rochester Stained Glass for design

modifications and glass selection. Within weeks our funding ($10,000) was complete and they

began construction. Their years of experience and artistic talents do not go unnoticed as they

managed to accommodate our goal of June 29th for completion and provided us with our

beautiful reminder of the message of the cross and it's importance in our lives.

We Thank the Redeemer Lutheran Church Women (RLCW) for preparing and serving the special

meal which will follow the late service on Sunday.

We Thank the members of Redeemer who committed $62,000 to the “Fan Into Flame” mission

effort as a special thank offering in gratitude to God for 75 years of blessings, those who gave

funds for the stained glass window, the confirmation display, and for general anniversary

expenses.

NURSE'S NOTES

HEALTH TIP - Cod Liver Oil

Cod liver oil may weaken bones because of its very high vitamin A content. A recent

Norwegian study of middle-aged women, in the American Journal of Epidemiology, found

that those who took cod liver oil as children are twice as likely to have low bone mass as

women who did not. Many people take cod liver oil because it is rich in vitamin D. Several

studies in the past seven years have linked high vitamin A intake to weaker bones. Fish oil

supplements, and fish itself, do not have much vitamin A, which is concentrated in the liver

(in beef and chicken liver as well).
