They will share briefly at the start of service, but if you would like to hear more they will share for about 15 minutes between services on Sunday. Come and hear from a young missionary couple that is passionate about telling people about the hope and love we have in Jesus!

Equipping the Saints…

In Ephesians 4 (NRSV) Paul talks about pastors and other leaders as gi s God has given the church “to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ.” Stephen Ministry has given us an organized way to equip those gi ed for caring ministry so that they can build up the body of Christ by providing Chris an care and support to those experiencing a difficult me. CAMP OMEGA RETREAT: For those of you who signed up to go on the Camp Omega retreat, please plan on arriving at Redeemer by 2pm on Saturday, August 17th. IS FALLING PART OF AGING ? Key Messages:

Older adults, both male and female, can benefit from regular physical ac vity.

Physical ac vity need not be strenuous to achieve health benefits.

Older adults can obtain significant health benefits with a moderate amount of physical ac vity, preferably daily. A moderate amount of ac vity can be obtained in longer sessions of moderately intense ac vi es (such as walking) or in shorter sessions of more vigorous ac vi es (such as fast walking or stair walking).

Addi onal health benefits can be gained through greater amounts of physical ac vity, either by increasing the dura on, intensity, or frequency. Because risk of injury increases at high levels of physical ac vity, care should be taken not to engage in excessive amounts of ac vity.

Previously sedentary older adults who begin physical ac vity programs should start with short intervals of moderate physical ac vity (5‐10 minutes) and gradually build up to the desired amount.

Older adults should consult with a physician before beginning a new physical ac vity program.

In addi on to aerobic ac vity, older adults can benefit from muscle‐strengthening ac vi es. Stronger muscles help reduce the risk of falling and improve the ability to perform the rou ne tasks of daily life.

Those individuals who par cipate in FFF at Redeemer Lutheran feel they are able to perform their ac vi es easier.

Facts

The loss of strength and stamina a ributed to aging is in part caused by reduced physical ac vity.

Inac vity increases with age. By age 75, about one in three men and one in two women engage in no physical ac vity.

Among adults aged 65 years and older, walking and gardening or yard work is, by far, the most popular physical ac vi es.

Social support from family and friends has been consistently and posi vely related to regular physical ac vity.

Redeemer In-House Mission/Ministry Many of us may not have the opportunity or call to become missionaries in places near or far, but we can serve with gladness right here at Redeemer. Proceeds from the annual rummage sale will be, as in the past, donated to Redeemer projects or to local organiza ons which provide assistance to those in need. The Annual Redeemer Rummage Sale dates are October 4 and 5. Clean, useable dona ons are welcome from Sunday, September 29, thru noon Thursday, October 3, in the fellowship halls. We welcome every one who is able to volunteer when me is available. The volunteer sign‐up forms are at the Welcome Center and the display table in the Narthex.
