6. CCSP Technical and Operational Requirements
The following pages contain details about specific Certified Cloud and Service Provider program technical and
operational requirements for all CCSP partners.
6.1. Hardware and Hypervisor Requirements
A CCSP partner provides a trusted destination for ISVs and enterprise IT to run their applications. As such, the
CCSP partner must:
• Run on a certified hypervisor. These include:
◦ Microsoft Hyper-V
◦ Red Hat OpenStack Platform
◦ Red Hat Virtualization
◦ VMware ESXi and ESX
For current information on supported hypervisors, please visit https://access.redhat.com/certified-hypervisors
• Run on certified hardware
◦ Red Hat certified hardware can be found at http://access.redhat.com/ecosystem/search/#/category/Server
6.2. Image Certification
Certified Cloud and Service Provider partners who want to make Red Hat images available through a cloud
marketplace or similar catalog, are required to certify the images with Red Hat before making them available to
end-customers.
The image certification process includes a series of tests that provide CCSP and Red Hat customers assurance
that they will have a consistent experience across cloud providers, their experience comes with the highest level of
support, and that good security practices are available to them. Red Hat provides all of the image certification tools
and processes CCSPs will need to certify their images.
6.2.1. Image Requirements and Workflow
The CCSP Certification Policy Guide describes the technical and operational certification requirements for CCSP
partners who want to offer services based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
The CCSP Certification Workflow Guide describes the certification workflow for CCSP partners who want to offer
Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
6.2.2. When and What to Certify
CCSP partners are required to certify each type and version of hypervisor on which Red Hat Enterprise Linux
guests will be present and run.
For example:
The CCSP partner is running VMware 4 and Red Hat Virtualization 3.0 and will have Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 &
41 of 60 Red Hat CCSP Program - Confidential NDA Only v1.32
7 guests on both. Certification is required on one instance of each major Red Hat Enterprise Linux version on each
hypervisor.
2 hypervisors and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 & 7 will require 4 image certification runs
It is also recommended that this be repeated in each isolated data center or region in the
providers cloud to ensure against inconsistencies.
Re-certification of new minor versions of Red Hat Enterprise Linux is optional but new hypervisor versions that are
deployed will need to be re-certified.
For example:
The CCSP partner upgrades from VMware vSphere 5.x to VMware vSphere 6.x, requiring a re-certification. This
certification would be additive to the example above.
6.2.3. How to Certify
Review the CCSP image certification process documentation here - CCSP Certification Workflow Guide.
Non-standard Red Hat packages or file systems
During the certification run, non-standard Red Hat packages or file system layouts will be noted at the time of
certification submission. These do not necessarily prevent certification, as Red Hat understands that all clouds are
different and that additional packages or layouts may be required for proper functioning of the image in the CCSP
partner’s cloud or managed service.
Certification Completion
The resulting Bugzilla tickets entered by the certification program are reviewed by a Red Hat team against the
technical and operational criteria expected. Once the review is complete (typically less than 5 business days), the
CCSP partner should make all certified Red Hat images available for consumption on their cloud.
As part of the certification process, the CCSP partner creates an entry in the Red Hat Certification Catalog, which is
available on the Red Hat Customer Portal. The certification catalog provides Red Hat customers a way to search
and discover the CCSP partner’s certified images.
6.3. Metering, Billing, and Reporting
6.3.1. Metering and Billing Requirements
CCSP partners are required to provide a system or methodology to track usage of Red Hat products according to
available revenue units in the CCSP program: in general, hourly, monthly, or yearly for multi-tenant environments,
and monthly or yearly for dedicated environments.
Red Hat Update Infrastructure and Red Hat Satellite Server are not metering and billing utilities. They are designed
for content distribution and in the case of Red Hat Satellite, active systems management.
Red Hat CloudForms has the capability to provide metering and billing reports with customization. Please contact
your Red Hat partner manager for further details on using Red Hat CloudForms for billing and metering
requirements.
42 of 60 Red Hat CCSP Program - Confidential NDA Only v1.32
The following metering and billing requirements are in effect for the duration of the agreement:
1. The CCSP partner will demonstrate the ability to account for all consumption of Red Hat offerings on their cloud
or managed service.
2. Metering must be consistent with the revenue units that Red Hat is offering to the CCSP partner.
3. The CCSP partner must be able to account for total consumption of every hour used by its customers and
partners.
Dedicated Environment Billing
Dedicated environments are those in which the physical servers/systems, whether bare metal OS or virtualized, are
used by a single end customer. Usage for such systems is on a per physical socket basis. A 'socket' is defined as
the number of physical CPUs in use by the server (i.e. 2-socket server, 4-socket server, etc).
Refer to the CCSP SKU Guide for the details about the applicable billing SKUs that should be reported.
6.3.2. Reporting Requirements
1. The CCSP partner will deliver monthly reports on actual customer usage of all instance hours consumed for
billing purposes.
2. For U.S. partners only that sell into the public sector market, partners must report on public sector and private
sector separately (US public sector includes federal, state, local government, educational organizations, and
tribal entities).
3. Total hourly consumption, total revenue, and maximum concurrent instance usage by customer must be
provided by instance type and per data center region, if the provider has offerings in multiple geographic
regions.
Submitting a Royalty Report
Reports must be submitted for each calendar month no later than the fifteenth day of the following month. Partner’s
monthly report shall include the following information:
• Partner name, email address and physical address
• Reporting Period
• Total Number of Units deployed, purchased, distributed and used within the month broken down on the basis
of:
• End User company name
• Software Subscriptions Type by Red Hat SKU
• Country and state (or province) where Red Hat SKU is consumed
• Software Subscription Fee (Unit Price)
Use the following format for the report’s fle name:
CCSP Royalty Report <company name> <yyyymm>.xls

Use the following format for the email subject line:
CCSP Royalty Report <company name> Usage for <yyyymm>
Send the report to [email protected].
If you are working with a distributor, refer to your agreement for guidelines on submitting a
royalty report.
Sample Billing Report
Sample Royalty Report includes a sample billing report for CCSP partners. CCSP partners can also access the
Red Hat Partner Connect for Business portal for a sample royalty report.
6.4. Content and Systems Management
A core requirement of the Red Hat CCSP program is that an end customer using Red Hat products on the CCSP
partner’s service can get access to the content, updates and security patches that Red Hat delivers. Three options
are available:
• Red Hat Update Infrastructure
• Red Hat Satellite Server
• Red Hat Customer Portal
6.4.1. Red Hat Update Infrastructure
Red Hat Update Infrastructure (RHUI) offers a highly scalable solution to manage yum repository content for Red
Hat Enterprise Linux cloud instances. Based on the upstream Pulp project, RHUI allows cloud providers to locally
mirror Red Hat-hosted repository content, create custom repositories with their own content, and make those
repositories available to a large group of end users via a load-balanced content delivery system. Any CCSP partner
who resells Red Hat products on a multi-tenant service infrastructure must use RHUI to provide updates.
Architecture
RHUI is comprised of three types of nodes:
• The Red Hat Update Appliance (RHUA) which communicates with Red Hat’s content delivery network to pull
content for it’s repositories
• Content delivery servers (CDS) which provide redundancy and scalability
• Client nodes which pull the content from the CDS.
RHUI’s architecture provides a redundant, scalable and highly available solution for the CCSP customers to access
content.

CCSP partner’s environment.
6.5. Errata Notification
A CCSP partner is responsible for ensuring that its customers are aware of important errata and updates. This is
typically handled by pass-through from the CCSP partner to the customer. CCSP partners should review Red Hat’s
policies on security notification and advisories and appropriately subscribe to the indicated security notification
distributions.
Typical mechanisms for customer notification can include email, RSS & message boards, or a provider-hosted web
dashboard.
Security notifications and advisories can be found online at at https://access.redhat.com/security/updates/advisory.
Red Hat Satellite may also be used for notification of errata and for system remediation. Additional instructions can
be found in the Satellite Product Documentation at https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/

6.6.4. Multi-vendor Support with TSANet*
In order to participate in the Red Hat Cloud Access program, a CCSP partner must join the Technical Support
Alliance Network (TSANet). TSANet is a third party, not-for-profit member alliance of global IT vendors that provides
the legal and operational framework to enable multi-vendor collaborative support between members. Red Hat
maintains membership in TSANet for situations when it is necessary to engage other vendors on mutual customer
support issues.
Red Hat has established a collaborative group through TSANet to facilitate 1:1 engagement with Red Hat Global
Support Services. This allows us to establish bi-directional support processes, providing a common platform for
both CCSP partner and Red Hat support teams to engage on joint customer issues. It also simplifies the
administration and maintenance of the points of contact and process details for both sides.

7. Cloud Access
7.1. Cloud Access Overview
Red Hat Cloud Access is a feature of certain Red Hat subscriptions that allows a Red Hat customer to move their
eligible product subscription(s) from their datacenter to a participating CCSP partner’s environment.
From the customer’s perspective, Cloud Access enables open, hybrid cloud environments and the flexibility of
using Red Hat products where they need them, in the datacenter or on a certified public cloud.
Customer Benefits
• No cost, no new contracts to sign
• Maintain their direct sales and support relationship with Red Hat
• Provides flexibility & choice for how/where they want to use their Red Hat subscriptions
• Single management/update architecture via Red Hat Satellite or RHSM
• Available for the life of the subscription, to use any time
• Potential cost savings vs. long-term on-demand consumption
7.2. Partner Eligibility
All CCSP partners are eligible to participate in Red Hat Cloud Access provided they meet the following
requirements:
• Agree to the Red Hat Cloud Access terms and conditions and have been approved to offer Red Hat Cloud
Access as part of the CCSP agreement with Red Hat.
• Have a documented tool or process for customers to import their own virtual images or otherwise install Red
Hat products on their cloud or service.
• Understand the purpose and value of Red Hat Cloud Access and be able to describe and position it correctly to
their end-customers.
• Participate in TSANet to facilitate joint, multi-vendor resolution of customer issues.
54 of 60 Red Hat CCSP Program - Confidential NDA Only v1.32
7.3. Customer Enablement
One of the primary requirements for CCSP partner participation in the Red Hat Cloud Access program is to provide
a tool or process that end customers can use to import their virtual machine (VM) images in to the CCSP’s cloud
environment. The tool should be easy to use and supported on the latest Red Hat Enterprise Linux platforms and
certified hypervisors.
ex. AWS EC2 Image Import using CLI tool
aws ec2 import-image --description "RHEL 7.3 VM" --disk-containers file://yourfile.json
The CCSP is also required to provide support for the import tool to their end customers and to provide clear
documentation on the installation and use of the tool. For example, here is the AWS EC2 Image Import CLI
Documentation that customers can use to learn how to import their own virtual images into the AWS cloud.
These basic requirements must be met before the CCSP can be enabled for Cloud Access general availability.
7.4. Customer Registration Form
Once a CCSP partner has completed all requirements, Red Hat adds the CCSP partner to a registration page so
that end customers are able to select its cloud or managed service for Cloud Access enablement.
The Cloud Access registration form includes information on Red Hat products eligible to move to the CCSP’s cloud
or managed service. Customers can choose to move their subscription(s) to any eligible CCSP, and the Red Hat
product availability is based upon the customer’s subscription information in their Red Hat account.
See the Cloud Access customer registration form for more details.
7.5. Cloud Access Reporting
In order for Red Hat to determine the end customer’s compliance with subscription terms, the CCSP partner must
provide Red Hat a report on any Red Hat customer that moves a subscription to its cloud or managed service. The
report must be submitted monthly in arrears and contain the following information:
• company name
• end customer email address
• image or product imported
• quantity of VMs or dedicated sockets used by the customer

Appendix A: CCSP Terms and Definitions
This table contains important terms and definitions related to the CCSP program.
Term Definition
Business Terms
Multi-tenant Multi-tenant offerings are designed for CCSP end-customer offerings that have
software isolation of customer apps and data but the infrastructure used to host
the offering is shared between multiple customers. Multi-tenant offerings are
typically measured by virtual elements like Virtual Guests rather than physical
elements like sockets or socket-pairs.
Dedicated Dedicated offerings are designed for CCSP end-customer offerings that have
servers dedicated to a single customer, where the hardware is not shared with
other customers. Hypervisors dedicated to a single customer can fall in this
category. Dedicated offerings are typically measured by sockets or socket-
pairs.
Partner Service A partner service is an offering that the partner implements at an end user
location with the following additional terms: (a) only Dedicated System End
User Software Subscriptions and pricing are eligible for this type of Partner
Service; (b) Partner is responsible for the procurement of all associated
hardware and all other obligations associated with implementing the Partner
Service; and (c) the End User Software Subscriptions may only be resold by
the partner to its end users and not to the end user’s customers or partners
unless those entities have their own Partner Service onsite installation.
Sell-to Sell-to is a CCSP business model where the CCSP partner uses Red Hat
software to build, run, and/or manage offerings for their end customers.
Sell-through Sell-through is a CCSP business model where the CCSP partner makes Red
Hat software available to their end customers.
Software Software is the Red Hat-branded software made available under the CCSP
program, including all updates, that are delivered by Red Hat, in either binary or
source code form or recompiled from source files that are obtained from Red
Hat.
CCSP program subscriptions CCSP program subscriptions are entitlements to software subscriptions for the
partner to implement an update service in the Partner Service and provide
access to Red Hat software that allows a partner to create images for end
user(s) software subscriptions.
