This is a people that loves Malta. #unitedtogether RED AND WHITE MORE GOOD NEWS Another 19 persons have recovered from Covid-19 after their tests came back negative. 14 are men and 5 are women. This means that the total of those recovered has now gone up to 118. At the same time, there was only one case of a person who tested positive for the virus. So far in Malta there are 306 active cases. In the last 24 hours 787 swabs were taken. There were some who did not keep their appointment to take the test. The health authorities have appealed that appointments should be respected regardless of the day. It is important that, together, we continue observing the regulations. We should stay at home and avoid close contact with people if we do not want the situation to go for the worse and lose everything.

Another 19 persons have recovered from Covid-19 after their tests came back negative. 14 are men and 5 are women.This means that the total of those recovered has now gone up to 118. 96 persons were fined €100 each during the continuous patrols that the Police are doing in order to ensure that thereare no groups of more than 3 people in public places, as per the legal notice published by the government. To date646 persons have been fined in breach of being in groups of more than 3 people in public. The appeal remains thateveryone should be responsible and cooperate with the directives being issued by the authorities. A foodestablishment in Marsaxlokk was fined €3,000 after an inspection found that it had a bench outside on the streetwith 2 clients eating on it. The establishment was supposed to be only serving take-away or deliveries.

INSPECTIONS

The number of beds at the Gozo General Hospital for patients who might get infected by Covid-19 has nowgone up to 120. The increase took place after elderly people who were in Sant’Anna ward in this hospitalwere relocated a licenced building close to the hospital. The building, which can accommodate a further20 elderly persons, has been equipped with all the necessities in order to serve as an old people’s homewhile offering good services and comfort. The relocation took place as part of the plan for Gozo to bewell-equipped to deal with the spread of Covid-19.

Work has already started in the tourism sector aimed towards enticing prospective tourists to visit Malta once theCovid-19 pandemic is over. Currently, there is no air or sea travel whatsoever among a number of countries, ameasure taken by many governments. The Malta Tourism Authority, however, has launched a publicity campaignin 14 different languages in order to remain in contact with prospective tourists and to show them the bestcharacteristics of Malta. The campaign is part of the strategy in the tourism sector in order to ensure that Malta is ina good position in tourism once the spread of the virus passes, as touristic competition in the Mediterranean isexpected to be very strong. SAFEGUARDING OF JOBS

2,200 jobs in the private education sector will be safeguarded after an agreement was reached between thegovernment, independent schools, and private childcare centres. The same holds for students, none of whom will losetheir place at school. In private schools there are more than 900 full-time employees and 180 part-time ones. Thanksto this agreement, all fees will be reduced by 35% while teaching continues online. The 778 full-time and 269 part-timeworkers at private childcare centres will also have their employment secured. This means that once the spread ofCovid-19 passes, the free childcare scheme will once again start in order to strengthen our country’s labour marketand economy.
