Recycling 101

• There are many different ways and things that you can recycle.

• The main products that are recycled are metals, papers, plastics, glass, hazardous materials and others.

• Recycling is a very smart way to give back to the environment.

Metals• Metals are a very popular recycling

resource. There are about 150 million metric tons of Scrap metals recycled annually.

• Metals include: steel, brass, bronze, Zinc, magnesium, Tin, lead and aluminum.

Papers

• In 2007, 56% of the paper used in the U.S was recycled. That’s an average of 360 pounds of paper for every person in the country.

• Amazing!

Plastics• We use so many plastic bottles on a

daily basis that, in 2006, it took more than 17 million barrels of oil (excluding the oil used in transporting the plastic) to produce these plastic bottles. With this much of an impact and need for plastic bottle use, recycling them is a necessity.

Glass

• Fact:Glass is 100% recyclable. Americans recycle nearly 13 million glass jars and bottles everyday.
