ST. PETER PARISH MISSION STATEMENT
We, the believers of St. Peter Parish, having our beginnings as the earliest Catholic Church of the Archdiocese of New Orleans on the Northshore, in response to God's call, come together:
to love God and one another to worship as a faith community to be God's hands, heart and mind and to provide for our community's spiritual and
physical needs
In doing this, we glorify God and help realize His reign on earth. While rejoicing in the experience of our pilgrimage, we must ever keep in mind our ultimate destination through our faithful stewardship of time, talent and treasure. Called to be a prayerful and hospitable Catholic family of living faith, we welcome and invite all people to share in our unique gifts of the Holy Spirit.

The First Friday and First Saturday Devotions to The Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary
The First Friday of each month was designated by our Savior Himself as a day to be consecrated to honoring His Sacred Heart. Attendance at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is assuredly the best means of honoring and loving the adorable Heart of Jesus.
First Saturday Devotion … All are invited to join the Northshore Manresa Men’s Group on March 3rd, for First Saturday Devotion with Confessions beginning 7:45 a.m., Rosary at 8:00 a.m. and Mass at 8:30 a.m. Our Blessed Mother asked at Fatima for the First Saturday Devotion, saying it is a way of atoning for sins in the world, and promising that she would help at the hour of death anyone who keeps the devotion for five consecutive First Saturdays.

With thanks, we continue our Novena thru March 3rd, in celebration of our 175th Anniversary.
O Loving God, through whom every blessing flows, we thank you for the gift of our beloved St. Peter Parish. Through Your Divine Providence, You have guided Your people since our earliest beginnings on the bluffs of the Bogue Falaya River.
We come before you now to ask for a perpetual outpouring of Your Holy Spirit as we continue our prayer, love, and service. We welcome all who come to our doors; may we strive to spread the Good News and faithfully abide by Your teachings so that the name of Jesus may be known and loved by all. We ask this through Christ, Our Lord.
St. Peter, pray for us. Amen.

Second Sunday in Lent: February 25th:
Lent is a call not just to “give up some-thing” but more important to “give something for the poor.” Wherever you live in the parish, there are poor families within walk-ing distance of your home. When in need, they ring the rectory bell. They are, in effect, ringing your doorbell. This month, through your gifts, the Soci-ety of St. Vincent de Paul was able to assist several families, providing for their various needs.
Stewardship ....Our Way of Life at St. Peter Parish ONE GOD + ONE CHURCH + ONE FAMILY
Poor Box Envelopes can be found in a holder on the wall in back of church. Please place donations in the collection basket or drop off at the rectory. Thank you.
The St. Peter Parish Homebound Prayer Warrior Ministry
The Homebound Prayer Warriors are com-mitted to praying a daily Hail Mary for specific monthly parish intentions. This ministry strives to remind others by exam-ple of the Scripture verse in 1 John 5:14: “And we have this confidence in him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.”
The following is the prayer intention for the month of March:
St. Peter Parish 175th Anniversary Year
(March 2018—February 2019)
Thanks to all our homebound for the gift of their prayer for our parish community.
Please continue to keep all those who are homebound in your prayers.
Encounter Cesia We encounter Cesia in Nicaragua where despite a lack of economic opportunity, young people pursue their dreams by building businesses to better their lives. How can you work to improve the lives of others this Lent? How can you support those, world wide, who are forced to flee their homes to find safety or better opportunities? Visit crsricebowl.org for information.
Eucharistic Adoration for Vocations
The Vocations Committee of St. Peter Parish invites you to offer your Adoration Hour in the Chapel to pray for an in-crease in vocations to the priest-hood, religious, and consecrated life as well as to provide spiritual support for ex-isting vocations. A binder has been placed in the Chapel with prayer suggestions. The gift of your prayer and time with Christ would be a beautiful sacrificial practice during this Lenten season.
The Vocation Committee of St. Peter Parish invites all women of the parish to commit to offer the graces of their Eucharist on every first Sunday of each month. All women are invited to embrace a life of spiritual motherhood by praying for an increase in religious vocations and by making a commitment to intercede both prayerfully and through mortifications for the holiness of existing vocations. Next Sunday, March 4th, is the first Sunday of the month. May all women of the parish prayerfully consider this offering of graces.

Safe Haven Sunday: THANK YOU!
Our Save Haven Sunday was a big success!
The Archdiocese of New Orleans and St. Peter Parish extends a tremendous “Thank You!” to all who made Safe Haven Sunday possible and to all parishioners for their support of the education and awareness on the issues of pornography at our Sunday celebration made possible through this Archdiocesan wide aware-ness day. Again, thanks to our parish community for your openness to the topics of Internet safety and the dignity of the human person in light of the porno-graphic culture. Just because Safe Haven Sunday is over for this year, it doesn’t mean our efforts to make our homes safe havens is over. Stay informed at covenantEyes.com, and learn more about how to pro-tect and guide your family and friends.

The Pro-Life Focus of the Month for February is Human Trafficking
“Each year, an estimated 17,000 vulnerable men, women and children are trafficked across our borders and then forced into slavery. Many are fleeing terrible situations in their home countries, and come to the United States to find a better life. Unfortunately, the nightmare often begins when they reach our shores.” Find more information on the USCCB’s website at http://www.usccb.org/about/anti-trafficking-program/.
Check out the Respect Life page of the Archdiocese of New Orleans: https://respectlife.arch-no.org/human-trafficking for the article “6 things you can do right now to help end Human Trafficking” and a corporal work of mercy for hu-man trafficking.
