ST. PETER PARISH MISSION STATEMENT
We, the believers of St. Peter Parish, having our beginnings as the earliest Catholic Church of the Archdiocese of New Orleans on the Northshore, in response to God's call, come together:
to love God and one another to worship as a faith community to be God's hands, heart and mind and to provide for our community's spiritual and
physical needs
In doing this, we glorify God and help realize His reign on earth. While rejoicing in the experience of our pilgrimage, we must ever keep in mind our ultimate destination through our faithful stewardship of time, talent and treasure. Called to be a prayerful and hospitable Catholic family of living faith, we welcome and invite all people to share in our unique gifts of the Holy Spirit.

EASTER BLESSINGS:
St. Peter Parish continues to be showered with blessings during this 175th anniversary year. Fr. Otis opened the Triduum by processing into church with a new, very special gift --- a relic of the true cross; the very cross Christ carried up the hill to Calvary and upon which He offered Him-self to the Father for our salvation. A unique wooden reliquary was designed to display the relic. This was created through the talented hands of Sean Alford, craftsman. Thank you, Sean! A permanent place has been designated near the Divine Mercy image for the relic to remain in church for veneration.
LOOK AROUND:
Several of our statues have received a “touch-up” by the generous and gifted artist, Carol Strain. They look beautiful and we are very grateful. Look around and you will notice some new statue place-ments:
St. Jude --- Reconciliation Room St. Anthony ---Church Entrance, above the poor box Sacred Heart --- Centered in church vestibule St. Peter --- Back right corner New Holy Family --- Back left corner St. Joseph --- Front right, facing the Blessed Mother Infant Jesus of Prague --- Front left, facing Divine Mercy Our statues enhance the beauty of our worship space and remind us of the Communion of Saints and the powerful intercession of those who are eternally before the throne of the Father.

Third Sunday of Easter April 15th:
In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus explains the meaning of the scriptures. Like the disciples, when we offer and receive forgiveness our hearts burn because we encounter the risen Christ within us. Have you considered answering the call to “help the poor find forgiveness and healing in their life” by joining the Society of St. Vincent de Paul?
Stewardship ....Our Way of Life at St. Peter Parish ONE GOD + ONE CHURCH + ONE FAMILY
Any young man or woman who may feel a call to the religious life is invited to contact Fr. Otis or Fr. Colm at the rectory, 985.892.2422 so they may support you through your discernment. They are committed to praying for you as you grow in knowledge of your vocation.
Third Sunday of Easter
April 15th:
An underlying lesson from all three readings this week-end is that the Risen Christ has wiped away our sins, not only for individuals, but throughout the world and its history. The terrible power of sin has now been reversed and our coming to perfection through the love of God is part of the Easter experience. As stewards of God’s love we are called to participate in Christ’s redemptive activ-ity. The stewardship questions for us are many: How do we resist injustice at home or in the workplace? How do we confront violence in our language and attitudes? How do we bring Christ to others?
“The Eleventh Hour”
DID YOU KNOW that St. Peter Parish has a ministry that prays FOR THE DYING?
The ministry is called “The Eleventh Hour”. The members of this ministry pray for those who are dying and in their final hours and for those who have re-cently died. It is very easy to request prayer: just call the parish office 985-892-2422.
Heart of Jesus, have mercy on the dying!
Rosary Sign-up for The Holy Souls in Purgatory
Would you or your family like to sign-up to pray a rosary for “The Holy Souls in Purgatory”?
All parishioners are invited to pray a rosary for the Souls in Purgatory as often as possible during the year. This rosary may be said for your dear departed family members, friends, or anyone, even those unknown to you, whom you wish to include in this Act of Charity. The sign-up sheet is in the back of church. Thank you for sharing in this special gift to all the “Holy Souls in Purgatory”
Rosary Sign-up for our Beloved Priests
Christ continues to love us and be present for us through the hands of His holy priests! Fr. Otis and Fr. Colm have offered their lives to God as a sacrifice for us, his people. They depend on our prayerful support to live faithfully their vocation in the midst of many challenges.
Please consider praying a Rosary, asking God for special graces for them to persevere in their priestly vocations. Sign-up sheets are in the back of Church. Thank You!
