Following a £12m funding package from the Business Growth Fund and Lloyd’s Bank in 2014, we approached UNW’s Strategic Talent team and asked them to find a high quality Finance Director to join our board to help grow the business.

Quantum Pharma PLC makes strategic financial appointmentCounty Durham based Quantum Pharma has bolstered its executive team with the help of business advisers UNW.

The niche pharmaceutical developer and manufacturer, which supplies a range of innovative products to wholesalers, retailers and hospitals, approached UNW’s unique strategic talent offering with the objective of sourcing a new chief financial officer to replace Chris Rigg, who was recently promoted to become the company’s new CEO.

After UNW introduced relevant and experienced candidates to the Quantum Board, Ged Murray was identified as the appropriate candidate to help drive the business forward, and started his new position effective from 23rd January 2017.

Ged arrives with a wealth of experience working as a finance director for several of the region’s most well-known and respected companies, including Northgate PLC and Reg Vardy PLC. He returns to the region from London, where he was Group FD for Ardent Hire Solutions, to take up the role.

Speaking of the appointment, Chris Rigg said: “I am absolutely delighted that Ged is joining Quantum as our new CFO.

“His vast experience and track record leave me in no doubt that he is the right person to further strengthen and complement our Board moving into 2017 and beyond.

“This appointment was an extremely important one. Having worked with and known both Dave Bowman and Laura Dean from the UNW Strategic Talent team for a good number of years, I knew that their extensive networks and knowledge would ensure the recruitment of an individual who shared the same values and vision that we hold here at Quantum. In Ged, I believe we have acquired that and more.”

Peter joined UNW to lead the strategic talent advisory service in 2015, having previously spent 16 years as an executive search specialist at Nigel Wright Consultancy.

Utilising his extensive network and national search capability, he sources board level candidates, typically CEOs, COOs, Commercial Directors and NEDs, to create strong leadership teams to drive and sustain business growth.

Peter is also a non-executive director at The Great North Air Ambulance Service.

Dave joined UNW in 2015 from Nigel Wright Consultancy where he managed their finance recruitment team and was responsible for senior finance appointments across the North East. Prior to moving into recruitment Dave qualified as a Chartered accountant and spent 10 years working for Deloitte.

In his current role at UNW Dave is able to utilise his finance background and his extensive networks to identify suitable talent for senior finance positions for a broad range of clients including plcs, international groups and owner managed businesses.

She has over 10 years’ experience as a senior financial recruitment specialist having worked at Reed Finance, Nigel Wright Consultancy and NRG.

Focusing on financial recruitment, Laura uses her strong network of contacts and the wider network within UNW to source mid-level and senior positions for a broad range of clients.
