Step 1: Grab the cord with two green ends.

Step 2: Plug the cord into the blue jack in the back of the computer, then to your phone.

Step 3: Select “Mic In”Step 4: Make sure the volume on your phone is

all the way up.Step 5: Open Audacity through programs by

clicking on the Windows symbol in the bottom left hand corner of the computer screen. DO NOT OPEN AUDACITY THROUGH THE DESKTOP!!!

Creating Your PodcastStep 6: Hit “RECORD” on Audacity. (Red Button)Step 7: Hit “PLAY” on your phone. Your audio

recording will appear as a waveform in the work area.

Step 8: When completed, you must press the yellow “STOP” button in Audacity. “Record”

Step 9: Save your podcast RIGHT NOW before doing anything else to it. To save:

• Save it as an Audacity project by going to the FILE dropdown menu and choosing Save Project As…

• Give it a name.• Make sure it saves as an “aup” file.• Drop it into your personal student folder.

Step 10: Go back and listen to your podcast in Audacity.

**VERY IMPORTANT: When opening your podcast you must access it by opening the Audacity program first, then clicking on FILE and going to your student folder.

IT WILL NOT WORK IF YOU GO TO YOUR FOLDER WITHOUT GOING THROUGH AUDACITY!!!

Exporting Your File As An MP3 FileListen to your podcast to make sure it sounds

exactly the way you want it to sound.YOU WON’T BE ABLE TO CHANGE IT AFTER THIS NEXT STEP!!

To turn your file into an actual podcast, you will need to make it into an MP3.

Here’s how you do it:• Go to the FILE Dropdown Menu and choose EXPORT.• In the box that says “File Name:” rename it using

Period # then last name Example: 5Mangold , 6Lewis, 3Gay• In the box that says “Save as type:” you will scroll down to

“MP3 Files” and select this.• !!!!!!!DO NOT hit “Save” yet!!• Go up to “Save in:” Scroll down to “Computer”, click on it and find

the area where you normally save things at school. NOW SAVE IT.

Moving Your MP3 To Miss Mangold’s Drop Box

1. Start menu – go to Computer and find your .mp3 file

2. In a second window, go to Computer and open “TOH_SHARES”

3. Scroll down to Mangold4. Drag your .mp3 into STU_DROP _FOLDER
