1 Background
In the early hours of 25 April, 2015 a magnitude 7.8 earthuake occurred in !epal, the "iggestearthuake in o#er 80 years. $he earthuake %as follo%ed "y se#eral aftershocks, including amagnitude &.7 earthuake on ' (ay 2015 %hich triggered many areas of the !epal %here to%ns and
#illages ha#e "een cut off "y the se#ere damage. In )irtipur only '* li#es %ere lost %ith *51*residential "uildings completely "roken do%n and '157 "uildings %ere partially damaged.
$he historically, culturally and archeologically famous )irtipur suffered huge human and economic loss. Almost all temples, patis pau%as and other pu"lic "uildings are at higher degree of risk in terms of itsser#icea"ility and cultural #alues. +eople are %orried a"out etinction of history, architecture andci#ili-ation of )irtipur. ence )irtipur (unicipality as the responsi"le go#ernmental organi-ation it shalltake o#erall management of such assets in )irtipur. $ill date no ma/or study in terms of technicale#aluation and social e#aluation of our near"y pu"lic assets has "een kept in priority "y themunicipality hence early and timely planned maintenance is essential in order to preser#e our architecture and technology and to hando#er the culture, art and technology to the upcomingengineers.
$he recent earthuake most of the temples are demanding great degree of maintenance and repair acti#ities as these structures are the edge of its eistence. $herefore the municipality should keep itsintention to%ards the reconstruction of the damaged temples through the sustaina"le, resilient andplanned manner.

$he main o"/ecti#e of this proposal is to assist municipality in pro#iding the technical assistance in thepreparation of a detail study report of the reconstruction plan of historically, culturally andarcheologically important "uildings structures, sites and places damaged due to the de#astatingearthuake %ithin )irtipur (unicipality.
pecifically, the o"/ecti#es are
• $o record eisting conditions of temples, dur"ars, gum"as and other pu"lic structures
systematically
• $o assess structural integrity of the temples for its safe use
• $o prepare detail architectural dra%ings of the temples, dur"ars gum"as etc
• $o pro#ide design and dra%ings of the structural components that need to "e repaired 6 replaced to
make the structure usa"le
• $o prepare a detailed cost estimate for maintenance 6 repair 6 reha"ilitation %orks
3 Scope of Works:
econnaissance sur#ey, Inspection and ecording
9e %ill conduct reconnaissance sur#ey of all the damaged cultural heritages, in#entory data and other related data if any.
:sing the standard Inspection forms, complete the appropriate inspection report forms. $he condition,
etent and urgency are noted in the form. Also identify the reuired maintenance items and record inappropriate forms 6 sheets.

Based on the "uilding condition assessment and e#aluation report, all the "uildingelements6components6parts reuiring maintenance6repair6replacement, design and dra%ings %ill "eprepared.

A preliminary cost estimate of the "uilding maintenance %orks %ill "e prepared. $he ;:;B3 normsand specification %ill "e used for the maintenance and repair %orks.

Based on the a#aila"le "udget the maintenance program6 plan %ill "e prepared.
+hotographs
+hotographic recordings of all the damages on the structures are essential for the future record. Assuch photographs of the damages %ill "e taken.
4 Expected Outputs

• Reconnaissance survey
• A complete condition of the "uildings
• epair, maintenance and strengthening design dra%ings
• uggestions for house pooling plans or programs
