Network Intelligence –Deployment
Manual commissioning Mesh network is not easy
Active comparison between design fiber characteristics and actual measurements
Transient Control
One amplifier output power setting or changes will affect other directions amplifiers
Network-wide automatic power equalization
Manual equalization becoming extremely difficult
Interconnecting WSS ports will affect the thru traffic in other part of the network
Fully Automated Commissioning Hides the Complexity and Guarantees optimal Network Performance

Conclusion
As Optical Networks Migrating into MeshNetwork Intelligence is Becoming more Essential
Optical Layer is migrating from ROADM rings to all optical mesh
powered by the Wavelength Selective Switch (WSS)
New applications driving continual growth and different traffic
patterns, and higher bit-rates on links
Network Convergence Combined with L3 alien DWDM interfaces
Active and pro-active network awareness driving new techniques
for directly monitoring DWDM networks
As network growing in size and complexity, network intelligence is
hiding the complexity
