FREEDOM OF SPEECH AND MEDIA SAFEGUARD FREEDOM.

Our Constitution and Universal Declaration of Human Rights gives us many Freedoms.

Where they censor speech, information and books they will take away your freedom.

FREEDOM ISN'T FREE, MANY DIED FOR YOURS. We veterans all of which gave some and many gave

all remind you to: Be vigilant and be prepared to fight threats to your freedom. There are many here who are

secretly against our way of life. Remember 9-11, Boston massacre, Detroit bomber, trucks as weapons etc.

And there are the greedy 1% who have excessive wealth yet won’t pay the 99% a living wage. And many

corporations make big profits but pay very little taxes. Abundance for nearly all, and excessive wealth for

the few has been created. But the wealthy and corporations need to be humane also and provide living

wages to all willing to work. All humans can now have and should have adequate good food, clothing,

shelter, medical care, education, training for jobs, and employment. The government can provide training

and create jobs.

At this time in history poverty is unnecessary, and unacceptable. No child should be without adequate food,

clothing, shelter, medical care and good education.

Automation is here like it or not. Machines with computers and AI are replacing humans now and this

will happen to most jobs. We need to have the government put up solar panels nation wide to get free power

daily. Have the electric companies buy this free power and put the huge profit into a fund and then give

every citizen an equal financial credit. This provides at least minimum income for all citizens including

children. All would still be free to work. Automation is already happening now and jobs are going to

machines.

Wise management and science can solve problems. Why not have abundance for all including you?

In this Who's Who are listed young men and women. our brothers and sisters who have given their lives to

preserve human rights and freedom around the world. We honor their memories and service. Some of them

died in attacks such as did over 3000 innocent Americans in the 2nd WTC attack on 9-11 (the 1st was 2/26/93

). Many more have been killed in additional attacks such as Boston massacre, mall bombers, road bombers,

aircraft bombers etc. Remember the under-wear bomber over Detroit. (If his bomb hadn't fizzled hundreds

in Detroit Area may have been killed.) Why have there been thousands of attacks (see Attacks in USA for

actual list of attacks) on innocent people since 9-11 all over the world virtually all by members of the

Terrorist Religion? This is an ideology which has been proven by their actions to be a growing threat to us, is

anti human rights, anti equal rights for women, and anti US Constitution. Don't take our word for it just look

at their actions in other countries. See for yourself at http://www.thereligionofpeace.com/ Stop the

killing. Stop the bombing. Stop the abuse of women. Stand up for freedom of speech and our Constitution.

This is historically significant. Saving the lives of our children is important.

Hundreds of graves are now unmarked at Warren Union and St Clement Cemeteries and many stones are

unreadable. Please help Historian Wesley Arnold identify these. Hundreds are children. If you have relatives

buried there please contact me at [email protected] while there are still people alive that have

some knowledge of who is buried there. These will be saved and published in libraries, and on this free

website where anyone can see and print any item in my histories.

The following message from the grave stands out.

DO GOOD WHILE YOU STILL CAN,

BEFORE ITS TOO LATE.

Behold and see as you pass by, as you are now, so once was I,

as I am now you soon will be, prepare thyself to follow me,

USE TIME WISELY WASTE IT NOT, AS SOON THIS TO WILL BE YOUR LOT.

As the years pass and life slows down, dad has gracefully adjusted and found ways to enjoy the beauty of a

quiet rain, the wonder of a chirping bird, and most importantly God’s word. He continues to whistle each day

and be thankful for another day with those he loves. Pete extracts blessings from daily events, stores them in

his heart, and shares them with anyone he speaks to. I have been blessed to be his daughter in law for many

years. He has taught me to appreciate simple things in life, to love without condition, to be patient in all

circumstances, to be thankful for every moment, every person and every situation. Thank you dad for your

love and thank you especially for raising the humble gentle man that I married. -Eve Kaltz Funeral

focused in Human Resource Management. Currently, I am exploring the development & financing of a

business opportunity (conceptually developed by myself) in the sports news & entertainment vertical. My

wife and I have two girls (Alexis & Lillie).

He is survived by his wife, Florence of almost 58 years. Also his children; Larry (Kathy) Kaltz, Marty (Eve)

Kaltz, Lillian (Andrew) Shakula, Rob (Dottie) DeMeulenaene. Also 10 grandchildren and 11 great-

grandchildren. And his siblings; Rosemary Pokriefka, Herb Kaltz and Alice (Bob) Evans.

I have been a life long resident of Warren. After graduation in 2004 I began my professional career as a Steel

Processor at Voss Industries, Voss Lantz(Detroit). In 2006 I made a decision to enlist in the U.S. Army as a

Motor Transportation Operator. My first assignment brought me to Fort Hood, Texas & The 4th Infantry

Division. I deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom in March of 2008. During this time I served under the

command team as we secured our area of operations in-part to prepare the region for Iraqi provincial

elections held January 31, 2009. Upon redeploying home in March '09, my wife (also an active duty service

member at the time, and OIF 08-09 Veteran) & my newborn daughter (Alexis) were reassigned to Joint Base

Langley-Eustis, Virginia. While serving at Joint Base Langley- Eustis I was assigned to the 359th Inland

Cargo Transfer Company. I worked as the units alternate Operations Non-Commissioned Officer In Charge

(Manager); a position slotted two pay grades above my own. In 2010, I worked in support of Operation

Unified Response (2010 Haiti earthquake) preparing & loading much of the equipment being sent for

support efforts. In 2011 I was sent to the U.S. Army Non Commissioned Officer Leadership Academy where

Page 5: Recognizing those who helped with the betterment of our

5

I graduated amongst the top 20% of the class; just short of achieving the Distinguished Honor Graduate

Award. My service time came to an end in 2012 when I was medically retired due to PTSD and other injuries

identified in 2011 sustained in OIF support 2008-2009.

I often marvel at the patient and gentle spirit of a man who has approached challenges with optimism and

faith. Medical hurdles presented themselves early on and continued to require attention for years and years.

Dad along with his right hand lady faced those with a winning and accepting attitude.

Keffer, Sue active member of Warren Historical Society. Every Monday evening she could be found

organizing work for volunteers for the Warren Historical Society. This club is more of a social club than true

historical group. Although they do a fine job maintaining the Warren Historical Gallery they in fact do little

of any historical research. Neither are they experts on local history. They do maintain a historical research

Kern Robert Apr 27, 2014 After graduation, in 1964 from CLHS, I worked a few jobs in the home area and

then on March 15, 1965 joined the USAF. I went from basic training in San Antonio, TX to Biloxi, MS for

technical training. I was then sent to Rome, NY where I worked on the navigation electronics on KC135s,

B57s and C131s for 2 years and then on to Galena, AK where I worked on F102s, T33s and a helicopter and

then was discharged in Anchorage on Friday the 13th December 1968. I returned to upstate NY and married

Madalyn Gelfuso on February 15,1969. I worked in the key punch machine assembly plant of Univac in

Ilion, NY for about two years and then in the key-to-tape machines and high speed printers facility of

Mohawk Data Sciences in Herkimer, NY for another two years. In early 1973 I joined a Columbus, OH

based automatic process control company, AccuRay. They sent us to Snowflake, AZ and we lived in Show

Low, AZ for a little more than a year. In mid 1974 we moved to Antioch, CA. That is where the moving

stopped. While here in Antioch, I continued with

AccuRay until 1979 and then did some independent contracting work installing and maintaining data

Page 25: Recognizing those who helped with the betterment of our

25

processing systems in large law firms until 1982 when I hired on at a Western Union facility on Market

Street in San Francisco, CA. That facility was the western “switch” for all the Telex and Teletype machines

on the west coast and Asia. While working there I was contacted by an ex-fellow worker and rejoined

AccuRay in 1983. I stayed with them through their buyouts by Combustion Engineering and then by ABB

until I retired on October, 31 2008. While with Accuray / C.E. / ABB, I had the opportunity to travel to

various work sites all over the nation. From the Seattle, WA area to Valdosta, GA. From L. A., CA to upstate

NY and various places in between. In 1986 my wife,

Madalyn, died of breast cancer. I was then in a relationship with Jan Eckert for 23 years and I am currently in

a relationship with Marianne Franchetto.

It’s been an interesting adventure but I am now simply enjoying retirement! Signed

KINGSCOTT JOHN W 27 SOLDIER b England Occupation in 1850

Kingscott John W is buried in Warren Union Cemetery. He was an early Warren township official and was

listed in the official 1850 US Census as a US soldier. In those days the life of a US soldier was often one of

suffering and sacrifice. That is why he should be listed on a historical stone. Otherwise he will be forgotten.

A family donated a beautiful memorial stone with his name and many Warren soldiers names. They had it

placed at Warren Union Cemetery. It was the only memorial which named many of our Warren boys who

served but have no marker elsewhere. That memorial was stolen by the Warren Hysterical grave robbing

Kluck Anna wrote historical works but did not share or publish them

Kluck Barny vice president Senior Citizens Club

Kluck, Anna was a beautiful writer who wrote a 124 page book named Pioneering in Warren Township. She

interviewed several old families and wrote their stories. She allowed a couple of the stories to be published in

the Star Reporter newspaper. In looking for her work I have only found 16 pages of her text. Old timers

informed me that she demanded money for her work and when the local historical society did not offer it she

refused to share it. I have not been able to verify that. She was married to a Center Line photographer. What

a shame that her work was withheld and now no one knows if she had children who might have the full text.

If anyone comes across her work please contact me Wesley Arnold so I can publish it in her name and so

Page 36: Recognizing those who helped with the betterment of our

36

future generations can benefit from the knowledge she obtained. The most famous section of her text was

preserved from an article in the Star Reporter about Center Line. You can view that in my history of Center

Line. I will summarize here what little I have found of her work. She states in a Preface that she interviewed

Louis Busch who gave information about Busch School. And the sailing of his grandfather to this country in

a wooden ship. Joseph and Barbara Wiengartz and Catherine Smith who told the story of St Clement Church.

Dan and Joseph Grobbel, Dora Buechel for the story of the Buechel store and first Post Office. And she

interviewed Frank Rinke who told his experiences of clearing the land and hauling logs. A very poor copy of

a few 15 pages of her book included the following Table of Contents. Warren township, Indian and pre-

Indian period. P1 Story of Warren township p 7. Pioneer Land Owners p10. Busch family Voyage p 16. The

Weingartz Family p23. Anthony Grobbel Family p27. Pioneering in Warren township p30. Outdoor Ovens

p33. The Groesbeck family p34. Gov Alex J Groesbeck p43. Dr Simonds, Pioneer Doctor p52. The plank

road p58. Early Railroads p61. St Clement Church p65. Buechel's General Store p85. The Busch School p89.

St Paul Church, Warren. P92. Center Line, Orgin of name 94. Village of Center Line p98. The Kaltz Family

p123. Village of Warren p128. Her page 5 entitled the Last of the Chiefs is the story of Macomte. This

material is found in other sources so this is not lost. He liked to drink and fell through a fence into water at

night on the John Tucker farm. Here is a sample of Anna's writing at the bottom of page 5. “Cum-emkum-

non was succeeded by his brother, Francis Maconce, an Indian of more than average intelligence, loved by

his people and respected by the whites. His wife, a beautiful Indian woman, dressed in the current style and

fashion of the white women. She was wekk known locally for her neat home and delicious cooking and often

played hostess to Judges Witheral, Sibley and Whipple when they stopped there on their way to St. Clair

county.” Here is page 6 which is only a half page. “Francis Maconce made several trips out west to select a

new reservation for his people and the bulk of the tribe followed him to the banks of the Osage river in

Missouri in the years between 1830 and 1838. Meanwhile, Truckatoe, acting as a sub-chief, became

dissatisfied and impatient and left with several members of the tribe for Lakeville in the early 1830s.” “But

they are gone. Their wigwams have been replaced by prouder architectural monuments of brick and mortar.

Their hunting grounds have been converted into cultivated fields, great cities and super-highways and the

bones of their warriors and chiefs lie scattered in various places where once the red man was lord of the soil

and rightful owner of the land we occupy.” (Anna Kluck Pioneering in Warren Township)

Her Chapter two is the exact word for word minutes of the first

Warren Town meeting which she states was written in longhand in a well worn leather bound book kept in a

safe in the township office. Her chapter Two also has a small list of the first land buyers. She also quotes a

Page 37: Recognizing those who helped with the betterment of our

37

resolution regarding farm animals running at large. “Resolved that Boars shall be restrained from running at

large between the 1st day of Man and the 1st day of November under penalty of $5.00.”“Resolved that no

stallion shall be allowed to run at large under penalty of ten dollars.” “In 1832 another interesting item

appears in the minutes ' Voted that there be eight dollars bounty on wolves killed in the town. “ In Chapter

Two she also mentions that Louis Beaufait was one of the first township officers and that his father was

justice of the peace and associate justice of the Court of Common Pleas in Detroit and also held military

offices in the militia. Louis Beaufait was a soldier in the War of 1812 and presidential elector in 1844.

narrative on Frank Rinke in this biography collection. Anna Kluck also noted that in Warren township nearly

every back year was equipped with an outdoor oven which looked like a bee hive. Since most of the settlers

were of foreign birth, they brought with them many tried and tested old country way of doing things. Baking

bread in an outdoor oven specially constructed for that purpose was one of them. They were built of brick

and lime mortar, measured abut four feet in height and two and a half in width. There were three

compartments in each. The grates, placed a few inches from the ground, formed the floor of the baking

compartment, which was about 18 inches in high. The space above was rounded on top and formed the flue

through which the heat and smoke traveled to the chimney at the end. An iron door closed the oven. The fire

was made with measured bundles of sticks set directly in the baking compartment. Some housewives used

wood especially cut into small sticks for this purpose; others preferred bundles of twigs. The same amount of

fuel was always used so that the heat was always the same. When the last twig had burned out the ashes were

carefully scraped from the grates and the week's supply of raised bread set in. After an hour the door was

opened and the plump loaves of fragrant brown bread were removed. Pies and cakes were baked in the

kitchen ranges, but bread, the staff of life, was trusted only to the outdoor oven. (Anna Kluck) Need More

Lawrence “Pete” V. Kaltz, age 91, of Harrison, formerly Center Line, Michigan passed away January 7,

2014.

Lawrence was a WWII US Army veteran. He worked for the Center Line School district and also 25

years for the City of Center Line Park & Rec.

Listening to others and really hearing what they say is a lost art. Dad is truly interested in what others care

about and truly tunes in to their conversations. A great example occurred when my brother in law listened to

Petey describe in finite detail a local restaurant and the fish dinner they serve. The picturesque description

went on for a few minutes followed by a short pause and then dad said, “course I have never eaten there but

Jim told me about it!” My brother in law cracked up and called to share the story with me. This impressed

me with the level to which dad tunes into all that others share with him.

My wife, Jessica, and I decided to relocate back to Warren early in my medical retirement process. We

decided to rent our home in Williamsburg, VA, and she too separated from service (under honorable

circumstances). She relocated 6 months prior to my retirement (living at my father's house in Warren), and

secured a position with a company contracted to General Dynamics. Upon my arrival in February (2012), I

began working once again in Steel Processing for Detroit Steel Processing. We purchased our home in

Warren in May '12. After one year at Detroit Steel Processing I decided to enroll as a full time student at

Baker College. There I have began working toward a degree

Today most people aspire to travel to far away places, live in magnificent houses, drive fine vehicles, and

acquire new technologies. Dad delights in his home built by his family and paid for through his hard work,

riding with his boys at dusk to look for deer, and a simple telephone to stay connected. The stories shared by

family are often reiterated to other family members so that everyone can share each other’s challenges,

successes, and current happenings.
